Hi All, it's been another fairly rubbish day sickness wise, but does seem to be lifting now. Clinic couldn't prescribe anti sickness as they didn't have a doctor there this afternoon, however after an argument with the go receptionist, then the duty doctor dh has gone out to pick up some anti sickness pills. So I will take one of those tonight anyway just to try to get a good nights sleep.

We have to be at the clinic 10am tomorrow, for a scan first to check the OHSS has improved, them if it's going ahead embryo transfer will be at 10.30. Xx

loopylou1984 · 17/07/2015 17:49

And yes, Lucie - I'm not worried about them being frozen, it will just be disappointing that we have to another whole month it's all. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Xx

spinningirl10 · 18/07/2015 08:11

Sammy, sorry you've been feeling so poorly. Hope you're a little better this morning. Fx the transfer can go ahead today xx

TrixieRay · 18/07/2015 09:05

Good luck this morning Sammy. Really hoping things have improved enough for transfer to go ahead.

loopylou1984 · 18/07/2015 10:34

Am feeling a lot better this morning, but just had the scan and everything looks the same as it did two days ago... So now we have to wait for the consultants decision on whether we're going ahead or not.

loopylou1984 · 18/07/2015 11:30

Transfer is cancelled. They thought I'd be too unwell if they went ahead. We're disappointed but know it's the right decision. We have 4 brilliant quality blasts to go in the freezer and 1 more that might catch up. X

lucieloos · 18/07/2015 11:47

Aww sorry to hear that Sammy but I think it's totally the right decision. Even if you had felt well I think your estrogen levels would have been sky high and that can affect implantation. Have a month to get better and then you can concentrate on preparing an amazing lining for those little frosties to implant. That's brilliant you have 4 frozen Smile

TrixieRay · 18/07/2015 12:10

Oh Sammy I'm disappointed for you. Like Lucie says though you've got a month to recover and get ready to transfer one of your top quality blasts. So pleased you've got plenty to freeze Smile

spinningirl10 · 18/07/2015 13:25

Sammy, really sorry you couldn't have the transfer but it sounds like the right decision and a month will fly by. You can get yourself fit and well and the egg will have the best chance of giving you your long awaited bfp. 4 eggs to freeze sounds fab! Is there a chance you could have 2 transferred or is it just one?

loopylou1984 · 19/07/2015 08:49

Thanks everyone, we are ok, we know it was the right decision - there were too many risks with going ahead. It's just disappointing, test day should have been 31st July and now they won't even have been transferred by then :(.
As they are good quality I think we'll only be getting 1 transferred so that'll leave 3 back-ups. I'm so exhausted with the whole thing, I just want to feel better. Xx

loopylou1984 · 19/07/2015 17:23

Just to update you, the embryologist called and number 5 made it, so that's 5 frosties now Smile

lucieloos · 19/07/2015 17:36

That's brilliant news Sammy! Quick question for you and trixie..how long do you have to wait for a frozen transfer after having treatment? Can you start again after having your withdrawal period straight after the treatment or do you have to wait to have one normal period before going again?

loopylou1984 · 19/07/2015 18:01

I have to wait for a 'normal' cycle, but I think that's more to do with letting my ovaries get back to normal. I'll leave it to Trixie to let u know how how soon you can go again usually. Xx

TrixieRay · 19/07/2015 18:11

5 is brilliant Sammy! Hope you feel better very soon.

My clinic said you have to have a withdrawal bleed when you stop the pessaries and then another bleed before you can start again so you have to wait one cycle Lucie. Your clinic may be different though. I definitely wouldn't be ready to go again as it is taking ages for the bloating to go down.

loopylou1984 · 19/07/2015 18:21

I think I'm feeling a bit better now, have managed to eat and drink a bit more today so think that's a good sign. It all went down hill at about 8pm last night so time will tell.

Trixie, Lucie, how are you? Xx

lucieloos · 19/07/2015 18:49

Ah ok thanks trixie I thought that might be the case. I've emailed my clinic to double check as I'm still debating fresh or frozen but if they say the same as you I think I will have to go fresh. If it was a matter of starting straight up again which would in effect be one month extra until transfer then I would be very tempted to go for the frozen but I've waited so long already since my last attempt in April I don't think I could do another 2 months on top of this one. It's a shame really as I quite fancied the idea but it just occurred to me all of a sudden that they might suggest waiting longer than I had initially thought.

I'm ok thanks Sammy, I'm just so eager to get started again. Next week will be my last week of doing nothing and then treatment begins the following week. I'm debating at the moment whether to take a couple of days off work next week just to chill out and it would also help the week to go faster but then I feel guilty incase I need those days later on in the year for anything treatment related. I've only had one day off since April which wasn't treatment related though so it would be nice but just not sure.

TrixieRay · 19/07/2015 19:13

I'm sure I've heard of back to back treatment Lucie so you never know. You could always just take one day off as a kind of middle ground. Have you thought about reflexology, I found it really helpful in keeping me nice and relaxed.

I have my follow up appointment tomorrow so looking forward to going through my list of questions with the Consultant. Will then think about dates for a frozen cycle. Half of me wants to get on with it but then half of me knows I need a bit of time out.

Sammy, hope 8pm comes and goes with no deterioration. I take it you have to stop all your meds now and then wait for AF.

lucieloos · 19/07/2015 19:18

Good luck tomorrow trixie hope it all goes well and you can sort out your dates for your next try.

Yes maybe I could take next Friday off as a compromise hehe. I think my decision on transfer will be based on what my doctor comes back with now so kind of makes it a bit simpler. If I was going for the frozen I was thinking of having the acgh testing where they test all the embryos for any genetic defects and that way you only put back the viable ones and it increases success rates quite a bit more again. If I go for the fresh this time then maybe that would be something to consider for next time. Ideally I would love to transfer a couple of embryos this time and have a couple to freeze as well but going by my first cycle I don't think my body is up to making enough top class embryos to have enough to transfer and freeze.

lucieloos · 19/07/2015 19:55

Sorry trixie also meant to say I had thought about reflexology before but I did acupuncture for 6 months last year and it was pleasant but it was expensive and I didn't feel I got a lot out of it. She would always say how it would change my cycles and make them longer etc but it didn't do anything to them. I just try to have my own relaxation sessions now with the zita west CDs and a couple of others that I have. I wouldn't mind giving reflexology a try but every last penny is going on treatment now Hmm

loopylou1984 · 19/07/2015 21:26

Ah Lucie - I know what you mean about being eager to start... I'm only a couple of days in to waiting for the next cycle but already just want to get on with it!

Trixie - yup, am off all meds (except one to help the OHSS) and waiting af to rock up... The first time in ages I won't get a warning from a temperature drop! Xx

loopylou1984 · 19/07/2015 21:27

Ps. Made it past 8pm! Lol. Am shattered though, so going to bed now! Xx

lucieloos · 20/07/2015 13:45

Sammy hope you are feeling better today and good luck for your spot trixie.

My doctor has got back to me and said that I can start the drugs for the frozen cycle straight away from my withdrawal bleed from the fresh so I am pleased about that and am now seriously considering it. It would mean only having to wait 3.5 weeks before I go out again for the transfer. I think it would put my mind at ease as even though I'm doing a different protocol this time I worry so much about early ovulation seeing as it's happened to me twice. If it did happen again this time so long as there were a decent number of follicles left to go ahead with then I wouldn't have to worry about my lining changing and not being receptive as I would be doing that bit in the next cycle. It would also mean that I wouldn't have to spend so much time abroad waiting around between collection and transfer so looking a good option but going to have a proper think over the next few days.

After what you said about the reflexology trixie I've also decided to look into hypnotherapy!! I was reading somebody's IVF blog last night and she was saying how much it helped her so I've found a lovely local lady who has been very helpful. She's putting a cd in the post to me today which I have to listen to as I'm falling asleep every night and then she is going to see me for a 2 hour appt in a couple of weeks. I know it's not going to change the outcome of my treatment but the part I'm struggling with at the moment is trying to stay positive and focused and not get too anxious about everything so I thought maybe it could possibly do me some good. She has said it helps to lower the production of adrenaline in the body which can affect hormones so going to give it a try.

TrixieRay · 20/07/2015 18:57

Yay for making it past 8pm Sammy. So I guess technically you are 7dpo so hopefully not too long to wait for AF.

Lucie, great news that you can go straight ahead with a FET. I tried acupuncture last year, I found reflexology more relaxing though and get the same effect from one treatment a month rather than 2 acupuncture sessions plus herbs. The reflexology is much cheaper per session too. It does all add up though so taking a break from it. Hypnotherapy sounds good I have read good things about it.

My follow up went well this afternoon. Consultant said that only 1 of my 16 eggs was immature so our fertilisation rate of 8/15 was low and if we had to do another fresh cycle they may suggest ICSI but he said it is really unusual to get 7/8 fertilised to blast stage. The good news is they do transfers any time during the month, it is just collections they group together and I could take the med to delay AF a bit to ensure that transfer is at a time when my boss isn't off. He said we could transfer 2 next time if we wanted to. He said there are other tests they can do but they are expensive and usually only done after 3 failed cycles. He seemed very confident that we would have success from this batch of frosties and said some women do better with FETs so FX.

Came home really positive but have had a bit of a relapse. Was speaking to my DM and she mentioned that DSIL had phoned her earlier to tell her about her 25 week check up (DB and DSIL are younger than me and they know that we had IVF and it didn't work) I don't know if I am being unreasonable but if I was in her position I wouldn't do this. It has just really upset me as she is sharing this bond with my DM which I can't, feels like salt in the wounds. Can't even blame hormones...

loopylou1984 · 20/07/2015 21:12

Hiya

Lucie - hooray for being able to start the drugs right way :) If it was me, I know I would do it ASAP. The doctors at my clinic keep saying how FET has such good results, and that they think I won't be long before we scrap fresh cycles all together, so that's promising.

Trixie - Perhaps it was just bad luck that only 8/15 fertilised?
Our fertilisation rate was 10/12, but only 5 made it to Blast. Brilliant news about timings, and interesting that they now say you can transfer two. Do you think you will?
Its hard isn't it, my SIL is about 18 weeks now, and they paid for a private scan to find out the sex the day before our egg collection. While I'd never expect them to put their lives on hold it did seem a little insensitive to text me the result (girl btw) when knowing my op was the next day. She couldn't have won thought, as I would have been very upset had she not told me!

I'm feeling so much better, actually had a whole dinner of a jacket potato, cheese and beans tonight, and feeling satisfied for the first time in a week! Might even have some chocolate! Have 2 more days signed off to recover before coming up with an illness that has kept me off work for a week and a half! Xx

Ps. Has anyone seen Purdie anywhere? I'm worried about her, Xx
