Sammy that's an amazing amount

Big hugs trixie

Toes and lucie how exciting for September :)

TrixieRay · 14/07/2015 10:02

Thanks Pikz.

Sammy, how are you feeling today? Definitely worth calling your clinic if you are worried. Hopefully you hear about your fertilisation results soon.

Lucie, I'm back at work today though still a bit tearful. Should be a fairly busy day, plan for the next few weeks is just to get on with things I think and hopefully start to feel better. We are going to talk about dates at our follow up on Monday. Our clinic start cycles in the middle of the month so we will have to decide whether to start mid August with transfer at the end of August/beginning of September or start mid September with transfer at the end of September/beginning of October.

Thanks everyone, still in a bit of pain this morning, but the embryologist just called and wasn't at all surprised given that I had 18 collected. She's said it's important to get up and move around, so today I will be trying to do that.

So out of the 18, 6 were immature so never stood a chance of fertilising (must have been the 7,8 and 9 sized ones), 2 fertilised abnormally and 2 didn't fertilise at all. Which leaves 8 which have fertilised normally. This is a great number based on the fact that the nurse originally said we'd get 10 collected, but I'm a bit disappointed that more than half of my bumper crop were no good.

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2015 10:07

We're not going to hear from them again until Thursday either so I have 48 hours of wondering :(. X

TrixieRay · 14/07/2015 10:23

Sammy, I had 8 fertilise normally and 7 of those made it to day 5. I'd had 16 collected and felt a bit disappointed, with such a high number your expectations are high. Stay positive, you only need one good one and you have 8! Fingers crossed for Thursday.

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2015 10:31

Thank you Trixie - I am desperate for at least one for the freezer and one to put back on Saturday. I need the back up like you in case this doesn't work.

Guess all I can do is chill out until Thursday... Which would be easier if I wasn't in pain! Xx

lucieloos · 14/07/2015 10:48

Aww that's good Sammy, based on the sizes from your last scan I also thought you would have around 10 collected so was amazed when you got 18. They obviously managed to pick up a lot of the smaller ones too but it was around the 10 eggs that were mature. It's great that you have 8 fertilised. I had 6 and they were all still going strong on day 3 which is when your next phone call will be so fingers crossed for you. I think you will definitely have enough for one transferred and at least one for freezer but probably more!

Trixie, I know that teary feeling in work well but it's all moving ahead for you nicely. I don't think there is any medical reason to wait past August for your next treatment. It all depends how you feel emotionally and finances etc.

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2015 11:06

Thank you Lucie, it just seems so far away. Thank god I have you ladies to keep me sane! Xx

TheTravellingLemon · 14/07/2015 11:09

sammy I'm going to quote you from 5 months ago...

'It only takes one!'

Good luck Flowers

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2015 11:15

Yes Lemon - I realise I am a total hypocrite and that if these were anyone else's results I would be really excited for them! Lol!

Thank you, Xx

lucieloos · 14/07/2015 11:55

Like trixie said you have 8 chances of making a baby there whereas somebody trying naturally would only have one. 8 is a decent number so try not to worry. You are young as well so the quality of them is likely to be very good and you have a good chance of a lot of those making it to day 5. Thursday will soon be here. We are already half way through today xx

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2015 12:56

I know Lucie - I suddenly realised that I had spent half of the day in bed!

Thank you all for being so lovely. I really want chips.... I wonder if I could get them delivered from anywhere?! X

Hi Activia

You need a day 21 test to check you have ovulated. This is done on day 21 (as the name suggests) of a 28 day cycle, but if your cycle is usually longer/shorter then the day should be adjusted. It's needs to be 7 days before your expected AF. X

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2015 20:29

What happened there? X

Pikz · 14/07/2015 22:33

Can't cope tonight. Last of my NCT group now preggers. The first one started trying a month after us... She has a 9 month old. They will all be off on Mat leave together so I suppose that is the end of that friendship group.

Proper feeling the infertility diagnosis tonight

lucieloos · 14/07/2015 23:04

Oh pikz I'm sorry I know how hard it is. Are you have any tests or treatment?

TheTravellingLemon · 14/07/2015 23:18

Oh Pikz this happened to me too. In fact the last announcement ended up with me here sobbing my heart out. All those babies are here now. It was really hard and I had an overwhelming feeling of injustice, like I just wanted to have a huge toddler tantrum and kick and scream and cry on the floor.

It's ok to feel these feelings. Let them out on here. I found this thread so comforting on my saddest days.

It doesn't have to be the end if your friendship group, but it can if you want it to be. I found I needed to distance myself from those people for a while for my own wellbeing. It is ok to do that I think. Flowers

Pikz · 15/07/2015 07:11

Thanks lemon. That's kinda how I'm feeling. Oh well it might happen sometime.

Lucie I had a lap/dye/hysteroscopy on dec with endo and adhesion removal. My 3rd in 4 years so no more treatment at the moment. I conceived ds after the 2nd op so I think the consultant hopes the same with this. I had a scan a month ago and he said everything looked fine and I was ovulating. Unfortunately as I had a csection too I have had 4 major ops in 4 years and so it's going to take time. He reckoned I would be preggers by jan next year. I know I am so lucky to have ds but when everyone else gets pregnant the first cycle trying it stings a lot

loopylou1984 · 15/07/2015 08:17

Pikz - sorry you've had such a rubbish time, I've found it easier to step away from pg friends, especially those who got married after us who always inevitably ask 'when are you having one, can't believe you let us beat you to it'

I had a terrible night, felt sick (and was a couple of times) all night. I'm just waiting on a call back from the clinic now. Xx

lucieloos · 15/07/2015 08:24

Oh Sammy, hope the clinic can help you today. Maybe it could be mild ohss from all those follicles that you had or a side effect of the sedation. Hope it eases off for you today.

Pikz, really hope your doctor is right and you get that lovely bfp by January.

loopylou1984 · 15/07/2015 09:43

I spoke to the nurse and she said that as I was feeling a bit better this morning they don't need to see me, she thinks it was my blood sugar dropping following the operation and has told me to eat lots of carbs. I don't feel right, but just managed a bowel of cereal so it's an improvement! X

TrixieRay · 15/07/2015 10:39

I'm so sorry Pikz, it is awful when things like this happen, it's like salt in the wounds, sending hugs and positive vibes for a BFP by January.

Sammy, sorry that you are suffering. Did you manage to get any chips? I always find that crisps help when I am feeling rotten if you can manage any. Not long to go until your next update.

Spoke to my boss about taking time off in a few months time for a FET. We can't really both be off at the same time as we are a really small firm and can't really leave the trainee by herself. He is taking the first and last week in September off which I'm pretty sure rules out a go in August though I feel this is a bit soon anyway. And I am worried that this may rule out a September go too. Will have to find out from the clinic when the dates would be when I go in on Monday. I currently have a three day trial the first week in November which rules October out and then we are into December! Grr!

loopylou1984 · 15/07/2015 10:51

Hi Trixie - no I didn't get chips, but I ordered potato wedges (on their own) from dominos - I managed to eat about 3. Dh has bought me some salt and vinegar crisps so I'm going to try them in a bit.

That's rubbish about the timings, tbh I think I would just do it in September anyway and call in sick for the days you need! Shouldn't be too many for a FET should it? The trainee will cope for a couple of days. Xx

lucieloos · 15/07/2015 11:05

I would try and go for September as well trixie. I think you only need one scan to check the lining with a fet and then you are good until transfer which is normally between day 19-22 of your cycle. You would go in and have the transfer done which would probably take an hour max with paperwork etc and then you're done. I know it's nice to have some time off in the 2ww but there's no medical reason that you need it especially as you won't have all the stimm medication in you so will be a lot easier on your body. I'm going back to work straight away after my next transfer as I would rather be busy. Maybe you could use your northisterone so that you could time your cycle to be in the middle of September and just take a couple of days off:
