Spinning and Sparkly - thanks for your kind words. Yay for cake baking and a positive opk Sparkly - I really hope this is your cycle.
Glad you are enjoying your new cookbook Spinning - sounds ace.
The reality is that we could probably save up to have tests and (if it was just one round), IVF privately, and I know that we're fortunate to be in a position to do so. We're probably a way off IVF yet (and suspect there's no point having investigative tests done until June) as this is only my third cycle post-ectopic, and I want to give it six cycles before doing anything (bearing in mind that when I was more fertile pre-ectopic it took us 2 and 3 months to get a BFP respectively).
My main concern (and the reason I went to my GP for reassurance) is that if I have another ectopic in my other tube (and I have a 17% chance of doing so), I suspect we'll be told that attempting to conceive naturally again is too risky, in which case IVF will be our only option. My GP's view was that the PCG's 3 year rule would probably apply in this scenario as well, although we could try and push the PCG to consider our case separately due to extenuating circumstances if that happened.
What I do know is that having to pay for it ourselves will make any fertility treatment so much more stressful than it needs to be, as if it fails, we'll have wasted a huge amount of money and will need to find a similar amount to try again. It also feels slightly unfair that as two taxpayers, who will presumably keep paying taxes for the next 30 years, we'll be reduced to paying for something ourselves that should really be free.
