Hi, ive just got married and today i took my last pill! Ttc for our first baby (hoping for a honeymoon baby!) so scared and excited! Anyone else just started trying? This is all so new to me and most of my friends either have had all their kids or are no where near trying yet

mrscatmad31 · 28/12/2014 12:37

my OH is the one who asked if we should start trying, I've been smiling ever since Grin I came off the pill about 3 weeks ago and my hormones are running rife! haha :')

mrscatmad31 · 28/12/2014 13:23

My OH is definitely more keen than me, lol! I stress about money, room, how the cats are going to cope etc but hes an optimist!

Yes same here. We're going to start trying in my next cycle (in jan). Here's hoping we all get lucky first try Wink

mrscatmad31 · 28/12/2014 13:43

Ooo good luck! :-)

Hi, we are also trying. I'm scared but excited at the same time. My problem is I'm not very patient lol xx

BowiesJumper · 28/12/2014 14:08

I've started my folic acid. Not doing anything else as yet though!
I suppose I should read up on what's meant to help!! Anyone got any basic tips?

mrscatmad31 · 28/12/2014 14:16

We have been taking pregnacare his and hers since October, lol! Cant give up drinking until after the honeymoon :-)

rachelrawrrr · 28/12/2014 14:36

mrscat, my OH really wants us to start a family so his grandparents will get to meet the little one :') I'm exactly like you though! and I just know the cat ain't gonna like it! haha

mrscatmad31 · 28/12/2014 15:08

We have three spoilt cats and really worried what they will be like if we have a baby! getting a behaviorist out in Feb as one of the cats doesn't like children and want some tips on how to manage him

OP posts:
rachelrawrrr · 28/12/2014 15:23

I had 2, one we lost at the beginning of this month and I just know he would have been amazing with a child, he was the most placid, happy kitty. The other one doesn't like other people and when the twins come over (niece and nephew at age 5), she hides and won't come out for hours. I'm worried about it but we'll see how it goes. I wanted another cat but then my OH turned around and said "let's have a baby" hahaha :')

mrscatmad31 · 28/12/2014 16:40

Ahh sorry to hear that :-( we lost our siamese in April and although i really miss having a siamese we havent got another as we knew we were planning a baby, two of mine will be fine its just the youngest one im worried about!

rachelrawrrr · 28/12/2014 16:57

Sorry to hear that Sad it made me laugh how I was talking about getting another cat (in about 6 months or so) and my OH said he wasn't ready and won't be, but he wants a child haha, it's only been 2 days since we decided, it's a good thing I haven't managed to get to the doctors to get my pill renewed!
fingers crossed we all get the results we want very quickly Grin

mrscatmad31 · 28/12/2014 17:12

Ooo so excited and ive only stopped my pill today, im not even that maternal really, prefer animals to children! but know i want my own and cant believe we are actually trying now! :-) fingers crossed for us all :-)

We have also just started trying, came off the pill at the beginning of December - am half excited, half terrified! After a good twelve years of trying NOT to get pregnant it feels really weird actually trying TO. Have started taking folic acid but aside from that we've just been seeing what happens this month. Have been doing a lot of reading though and I think next cycle I'll be tracking ovulation a tad obsessively!

Decided to chime in on this thread as I'm also concerned about how the cat will cope ;)

rachelrawrrr · 28/12/2014 20:25

I've not even looked at taking supplements or checking my ovulation, can't check the ovulation because I've not had a period in 6 years haha. ohhhh there's so much to do!
my cat doesn't even like me, only my OH, so she can seek comfort from him haha Wink

mrscatmad31 · 29/12/2014 19:29

Glad its not just me thats worried about the cats :-)
Thats the thing sparklysnowflake, ive spent ten years not getting pregnant, its so odd to be trying to now, lol!

I've bulk-ordered some ovulation sticks for the next cycle (got a wee bit click-happy on Amazon after a few glasses of wine last night!!) although we have been trying this month I've sort of written it off as a 'getting back to normal' one, think I may have only just ovulated (despite being meant to 1.5 weeks ago) so don't think my body knows what it's blooming well doing yet.

Yes it's very weird to be trying catmad - I mentioned that we were ttc to the doctor the other day during a routine check-up and felt really awkward like I was expecting her to tell me not to be daft or something... (I'm 28 - this all feels far too grown up lol!!)

rachelrawrrr · 30/12/2014 10:54

I've ordered those ovulation sticks and a pack of PG tests Grin too click happy myself!

I know what you mean about it feeling really grown up, I'm 20 and it's mad! but I feel totally ready at the same time Grin

mrscatmad31 · 30/12/2014 17:57

Im nearly 31 and i feel the same, lol! I dont want to start using the ovulation strips yet, think it will stress me out

OP posts:
rachelrawrrr · 30/12/2014 19:56

I'm just being really impatient Grin

Focusfocus · 31/12/2014 05:04

Joining you guys! I turned thirty yesterday and will try TTC for the first time ever in January! Not particularly broody or maternal (yet!) as a person, (DH has been broody since he was 20 apparently) but extremely objective-goal oriented lol so really hope I will be patient with the process and realise it's not one of my work/career to do lists!

Prep wise - have always done natural contraception I.e. Charting cycles for over six years now (excessively overfamiliar with my cervical mucus) and been on pregnacare conception his and hers for the last couple of years, with a few gap weeks this year and last I think around when we got married.

Moving over to Zita West Vital Essence 1 though from day 1 of AF due next week and let's hope a BFP results between Jan-April (she plans again!!) as that would sooooo suit my other work related commitments.

Got BMI down from 26 to late 23s I.e. Lost about 8 kilos over the last year intentionally. Eating is a mix - I am foodie, hate sweets etc but do have a weakness of Tthe savoury so the month of December has bee rather rich in takeaways but on the other hand had moved to whole grain, colourful veg, fish, good milk etc long so maybe I only notice the things I fail at! Hopefully!

All best to all other fellow first timers!

mrscatmad31 · 31/12/2014 13:43

Im not overly broody, just know i want kids and feel if im going to do it i should get on with it, lol! I also like to plan things and this is all the great unknown! I really want a honeymoon baby, keep telling myself it might not happen but i know i will be dissapointed if it doesnt happen

Focus I'm impressed by your organisation! I feel I'm winging it a bit at the moment, though definitely want to be better at tracking things (hence ordering a ridiculous amount of sticks to wee on!) as I'd ideally love to fall pregnant in the next few months (I'm a teacher - a September/October baby would work amazingly well for maternity leave!). I have been tracking on the Ovia app which has been useful (would recommend ladies if anyone's after something like that).

Am due my period on Sunday and already getting cramps, so very much doubt this first cycle will come to anything. I did use ovulation sticks between day 11 and day 17 and got zilch, so either ovulated very early or later than that. Did have some EWCM and cramping around day 22 so my money's on ovulating late-ish this month. We dtd that day, but not since, Christmas has been pretty busy! We'll see anyway, I was always a very regular 28-day cycle when not on the pill, so will be interesting to see if I get back to that.
