Am 34 weeks now.

*poppet" - yes, mine actually said, "You know how it is, I have to ask these questions, blah blah blah". Not really encouraging to say "Actually yes, I am worried about depression / mental health ..." I don't know how much more I'll see of her now though, most appointments now are with the high risk team as they will look after the actual birth.

poppet85 · 12/01/2015 15:06

My care is shared with the gp (just the way its done here) so I will only see her 3 times and shes community so thank god wont be delivering . At 28weeks I asked if she could tell which way round baby was . I was interested and excited , she just said "theres no point he'll be moving all the time " as she was walking away . I know that but she could have explained different positions or something to humour the ftm !! My gp has been wonderful and kind and given me all the time in world to ask questions . Unfortunately its back to the midwife for the 36 appointment !

Ducky23 · 12/01/2015 15:45

That's a shame, you need someone you can trust at times like that! I found my midwife amazing where most (definitely not all) the staff in the hospital were rubbish/rude/patronising/in too much of a rush to be helpful.

I also had dizzy spells a lot tori, not that that helps you! Lol

Bearsinmotion · 12/01/2015 16:22

That's interesting that a few of us had issues with community midwives. When DD was born they did the follow-up, and I was in quite a lot of pain so I asked what that could be. She basically said it was to be expected and to put up with it, wouldn't look at the stitches. Someone on MN told me to go to the GP as it could be a UTI. He did a quick test, gave me a script for antibiotics, 24 hours later the pain was gone. I honestly don't know why she bothered coming. My health visitor on the other hand was ace, looking forward to seeing her again!

iamdivergent · 12/01/2015 17:47

I moved areas when 37 wks with DD1 so I didn't know the midwives or the hospital when DD1 decidea to arrive 2 wks early. Had evil midwife in delivery suite and we actually asked for her to be removed, she kept standing between my legs and pushing down on them - said I had to open them wider Hmm DD1 arrived about 2 hrs after I arrived at the hospital so don't think I did that bad a job!

DD2 midwife was amazing, ours are primarily community but do a week a month at hospital too - I was lucky that I ended up getting her for my booking and majority of appts then she delivered dd2 at home Grin 1hr 30m from me waking til she arrived on the living room floor Grin she's still lovely to me even 7 yr later, we chat quite a bit on Facebook Smile we have moved again though, so although it will (fingers crossed I get pg) be same hospital it's unlikely that I'll see her Sad

It's def hit and miss. I'd have hated the midwives where I lived before I moved here - they were not supportive or young mums in the slightest

Cupcake92 · 12/01/2015 19:34

There's a lot of not so good modwifes about!
I love my midwife :) she's so lovely I feel she actually cares about me even when im not pregnant!

It's been a long day for me today, work was hetic but enjoyable! Haha :) and then dS was acting like a mad man so had to take him out to burn off his energy!
I'm Ready for bed now tho, so tired!

Cupcake - how has DH been? Has he apologised?

Health Visitor is coming tomorrow- what will she do? DS has been very settled today. I walked him down into the village and round the shops and he slept all the way. He has been wide awake tonight for his daddy to see him. Currently sitting next to him on the sofa. Grin Has been in the bath and is ready for bed, looking very cute. DH looks knackered.

I feel really tired but on a good note am back to prepregnancy weight- but not shape! Tummy still a jelly belly.

Not long to go now Bears. You must be excited.

Tori - it must be awful feeling sick like that. I got light headed with heat a few times in the summer.

LuluJakey1 · 12/01/2015 20:06

On midwives, I rarely saw the same one twice until I got to the hospital in labour and the nicest one I had seen was on duty.

She was great and really kept me focussed and calm- even when DH was complaining I was hurting his hand by gripping it so tightly!

Cupcake92 · 12/01/2015 21:47

He went out and got me flowers and my fav chocolates (lint lindor!) and apologised when I came in from work.
Which was nice as he doesn't normally do things like that. He's in bed now as he's up early so im having a peaceful night downstairs.

Lulu u said HV is visiting tomorrow? She just normally asks how dS is feeding, looks at his sleeping area and asks if u have any concerns etc. oh and she will weigh him :) and ask how ur feeling in urself.

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 12/01/2015 22:57

Thanks Cupcake. I know what to expect from HV now.

Did you forgive DH? I don't think I could have.

Cupcake92 · 13/01/2015 03:15

No I don't forgive DH not yet. I'm hardly seeing him the next few days due to him being at work etc so will be nice to have a break from him.

DS has woken at 3am, not quite sure why, but I'm so tired! I really needed a good nights sleep :(

OP posts:
LuluJakey1 · 13/01/2015 06:30

I know what you mean. I did the feed about half 2 and DH has just finished this one but DS doesn't want to doze off again! So he is lying next to me and I so could do with another couple of hours sleep.

DH is up and getting ready for work and I am just hoping DS starts to snooze. We are lying in the dark and I have my fingers crossed. Grin Am hoping the dark, his full tummy and the warm room will send him off.

Ducky23 · 13/01/2015 07:21

Well ds has definitely improved with reduced feeds but yesterday we had 4 hours of non stop crying, he's also had about 18 poos since yesterday, some of them like water. The midwife came out to see him and I have an appt at the drs today. Think I'm going to get him his special formula, if it will settle him I NEED it! Confused

Didn't want him to have to go on it tho Hmm

I don't really trust the gp's now because thy missed it 3 times when I took him before and looked like they didn't have a clue when I was asking questions Confused

Cupcake! Flowers and chocolates!!! How have you been?

I hope you and lulu managed to get some sleep!

Cupcake92 · 13/01/2015 10:41

Lulu I hope DS slept for u! My DS went back to sleep at 5am till 8am.
I'm still so tired haha Grin

Aww ducky, poor DS :( how did the doctors go? I hope they did something for DS! They are so bad u really have to push the doctors to do things.

I'm a bit annoyed today. DH text me saying he was left standing outside work for an hour again! As the other staff member who has the keys over slept yet again!! DH starts getting paid when he clocks in. So he is loosing money standing waiting for this woman! Yet he text me saying "it's okay if she's late, she's rele nice to me" so I got angry and said he should buggar off with her then if she's so lovely because we won't be able to pay the bills if he keeps loosing hours because of her.

Ya know I love to have a moan Grin

OP posts:
Ducky23 · 13/01/2015 11:16

My husband has that attitude cupcake Confused it's so annoying!! But if it was the other way round it would be a different story!

Well I went to the drs and they said I couldn't try the new formula as he's no longer non stop screaming after every feed it's only evey couple of feeds. They said it's probably his body getting used to the smaller feeds and his poo is because his body is clearing out all the 'back log' Blush he had.

He has been laughing today tho so I hope he's on the mend! Have to take him back at the end of the week if his still pooing non stop. It's just difficult because I change him (which he hates) then within 5-10 mins he needs doing again! His bum is ever so sore Sad

Il try that tori Smile I think it doesn't help because I use wet wipes and it leaves it a bit wet in his nappy so I got some cotton wool to help dry him a bit.

They didn't give me any cream Hmm I have a few different baby nappy cream things but they didn't seem to help

Dry his bum with a wash cloth after the wet wipes or let it air dry. Which reminds me I was going to order a bunch of face style wash cloths for that exact purpose!

I've also ordered the Burts Bee's baby products, apparently using a barrier cream helps a lot for sore bottoms before and after the rash appears.

Cupcake92 · 13/01/2015 14:28

U can get dry wipes to dry his bum with Ducky :) and also I swear by CJ's butter monkey farts flavour! Yes sounds stupid but it's amazing!!!!! :) search on the Internet for it :) I love it ! Smells like bananas Btw Grin

Just put my order in with Stokke, travel system, car seat, carrier all ordered now to wait to see how long it takes to process. I realised that these things can take ages to arrive and if she comes early that's only like 11 weeks from now.

Not fussed about the whole bad luck thing with storing it, we don't have any relatives near by. If something bad is going to happen it will no matter where I store it.

That's really crap about your DH and work cupcake, seems really unprofessional to not turn up!

LuluJakey1 · 13/01/2015 20:24

Health Visitor very happy with DS. Has put 10oz on. Asked me about contraception Shock I said we will not be having sex until DS leaves home and she said 'They all say that. Believe me.'

SIL coming up for the day tomorrow. She has not met DS yet and is very excited. He has been choosing his outfit so he looks cute. Has been very good today apart from when HV undressed him and he screamed blue murder. I think he was cold. The pet lip was enormous. He has scoffed his feeds.

We are all going to bed in a bit. Haing an early night. We take the Tommee Tippee upstairs at night and DH takes it dowstairs in the morning. No coming downstairs in the middle of the night.

DH's sixth form sent a hoodie and a hat for DS. Very sweet.
