Just thought I'd get the January bus started! The heaters on, the tunes are turned up and the seats are pretty comfy :)
I know there's a couple of others like myself who won't be POAS until January time so we have a bit of time to get cozy on the bus.
I'm Spam, my hubby is having a reverse vasectomy in a couple of weeks so my earliest hope of a BFP is 4/5th January :)

Good luck to you mrscrumbtious!
Has anyone here used OPKs? I'm not going to start with them until Cd10, which is Sunday, but I'm worried I won't do it right or at the same time every day - how have you coped with OPKs or temping at the same time everyday even on weekends? Xmas Sad worrier here!!

letsdothisthing · 23/12/2014 22:10

After my self pitying post last night, surprised and relieved to announce that my AF arrived in style this morning which means I can now officially take my place on the Jan bus!!!

Obviously I would much rather have seen a BFP but must admit that haven't DTD enough in the last 3weeks of the 50 day (+) cycle to expect a BFP so glad to have an AF and fresh start!! Here's to 2015 ladies xxx

tessiegirl · 23/12/2014 22:19

Hi all!!
Just had a read back - took a while!! Xmas Smile
squish - it is really important that you take you temp at the same time every morning, even at weekends!! I set my alarm at 7am every day, take temp still half asleep then fall back to sleep again usually! When I turn my thermometer on the last reading comes back up on the screen so I can plot it on my chart then.
I am having a nightmare taking temp at the moment as we have been doing so much travelling around last few days so I have been waking up in different rooms each morning with different room temperatures which can have an effect on your bbt! I am going to continue to take my temp but not rely on it completely just in case its not reliable. I also do a CB opk test each morning and an ic opk in the afternoon and should ovulate in the next couple of days or so. DTD whilst staying at relatives houses is going to be interesting! Xmas Confused

spamanderson · 24/12/2014 00:04

shoot well we managed to DTD and we're now looking forward to like a week of rest, plus AF should start in that time. I have a short luteal phase of 6-10 days so still classed as being my fertile window today! Back to normal tomorrow and what would be (for a normal person!) a 2ww. I'm only now 1dpo with 5-9 days until AF due so it's unlikely I'd get a BFP until my AF is like a week late. Fingers crossed she doesn't show herself until New Years day and I can POAS to satisfy my POAS addiction!
Ooooh fingers crossed mrscrumbtious! That sounds good to me :) when can you POAS?

tessiegirl - sounds romantic!! (not!!)

Frasras11 · 24/12/2014 03:28

Jumping on this bus too although I am hoping for BFP this weekend. Don't want to get my hopes up too much though. Am 33 and TTC #2 and as DS was an accident this is the first time I've actively tried. This is 4th cycle and last few days have felt very strange. So hot at night and can't sleep which is strange and not a usual pre period symptoms. Metallic taste in mouth too. Gah! I'm driving myself nuts! I just want to sleep!

spamanderson · 24/12/2014 07:04

Ooooh frasras that sounds positive! Dd1 was an 'accident' well, a very happy accident :) my first clue I was preg with both was tiredness and that awful Metallic taste!

Af is due next Wednesday so will try to hold out until Monday. Woke up for a wee at 5:30 and just had another one (I only go about 2-3 Times a day) cm is still thick, creamy and looks spotty too sorry tmi! Xx

MrsCrumbtious · 24/12/2014 08:09

Sorry that should say snotty!

spinningirl10 · 24/12/2014 08:14

MorningGrin

It's Christmas Eve!!!GrinGrin

Mrscrumb, sounds good for you, fx.

Treacle, are you lurking? Hope you're ok.

9dpo here and no symptoms.

HariboBrenshnio · 24/12/2014 08:25

squish with OPKs, I know it's advised to do them at the same time everyday but you could get away with a bit of leeway. When my OPK's are a strong positive, which was for two days this time, it didn't matter what time I pee'd on them, they came up +ve clearly. Maybe on a weekend, do it twice when you have time to confirm?

5dpo, it's dragging! We're away visiting DPs family so some distraction but I'm so impatient. Getting lots of discharge, a few pains in my boobs and (tmi) the runs. Hoping it's hormones but probably something I ate!

Hairstylisttoboris · 24/12/2014 08:46

Squish - I use opps at different times of the day between about 10am and 8pm. Life is to busy to test regularly. I also only get a positive for a short period so occasionally if I get a near positive in the morning I check again in the evening. I am now buying the cheap tests so I can pee on as many as I choose!

loopylou1984 · 24/12/2014 09:25

4DPO here (I think) so glad of Christmas as a distraction!
Actually saw fertility specialist who's said from the initial tests there's no reason we shouldn't get pg so to try for another four months then come back to see him... So we shall see.

Happy Xmas Eve everyone! Xx

Nervous83 · 24/12/2014 09:35

MrsC sounds promising! Got my fingers and toes crossed for you and Spam - rest up!

Squiish - I've been using OPKs which are really easy to use, I don't think it matters that you do them at different times to catch the 'surge' so long as you do them in the advised times as different ones recommend different times of the day. I'm a little confused at the moment though as I had a really really positive OPK on the 13th (evening), then a weaker line on the Saturday lunchtime-ish. Fertility Friend is saying that I'm 10DPO so I count OV as the day after my strong reading?

Spinninggirl - are you testing asap or are you holding out until you are late?

Xmas Smile festive hugs to everyone

MelonMelon · 24/12/2014 09:48

Happy Christmas eve everyone! Let's hope santa brings us all a present that we can open in January! I'm still babysitting AF and will start OPKs on 29th (my birthday!) Any tips on OPKs for a newbie?

Xmas Smile
loopylou1984 · 24/12/2014 09:54

Nervous - yes you should count from the date of the strong positive - the weak ones don't count as the line has to be darker or the same as the control. Xx

Nervous83 · 24/12/2014 10:01

Sammylou that's what I thought, so I would think I'm 11DPO, but FF says 10DPO Xmas Confused

Sparkly123 · 24/12/2014 10:46

Hi everyone! Just wanted to pop in and wish you all a very merry Christmas and a BFP filled new year! Positive thoughts to those in the TWW! Ive not had a minute to read back yet but intend to soon. Hope everyone is ok and sending baby vibes to all! I'm CD 6 now, so won't be long until dtd starts again!
Merry christmas!

Sparkly123,30,ttc#1,cycle4,BFP due 14/15Jan

HariboBrenshnio · 24/12/2014 10:49

nervous I go a positive on Wednesday but then an even darker positive (line darker than test line) on Thursday so count that as day 1. Friday was a negative.

loopylou1984 · 24/12/2014 10:51

It think that is because the LH surge usually happens just before ovulation, so although your fertile window started on cd10 the egg was probably released day11. Hope that makes sense.
I thought you were asking which day to count your positive opk! X

Nervous83 · 24/12/2014 11:17

thanks Sammylou, makes sense.

Melonmelon - depends how much will power you have Smile or how well you know your cycle I guess (depending on how many you'll need to use). I just use the amazon cheapies as they are simple to use and very reasonable. Some people prefer the reliability of the more expensive ones.

MelonMelon · 24/12/2014 13:51

I bought the cheapo poundland ones. My cycle is between 28-30 days (used to be exactly 28 but MC has messed everything up) so was going to start on day 8? Is that too early?

spinningirl10 · 24/12/2014 15:26

Melon, I would test from cd8, I found when I started using ov trays that I ov early on cd10/11Grin

Nervous, I don't think I'll poas. It would be a lovely Xmas present to poas and get a bfp but it's mine and dps birthdays right after Xmas so I think I'll just wait. I'm a poas addict once I start as I don't believe the bfnGrin last cycle I managed not to poas and just watched my temp..........I'll have to see if I can hold out this time!

who else is in the kitchen this afternoon? I have a list as long as my arm to get through, although I think I'm making good progressGrin

Frolicacid · 24/12/2014 16:20

Just pppping in to say merry Christmas and good luck.

spinning, I have everything crossed for a christmas / birthday / new year gift for you. I should be in the kitchen but can't stomach it just yet. Tomorrow is going to be interesting. I usually go the whole hog with christmas dinner, so my parents will be wandering why I've gone pre-made as much as possible this year.
