PMSL Coggy! Well done with the weight loss. Have to say, I have not really thought about food this weekend and really don't have a clue what I've eaten

Hi ladies... sorry to barge in uninvited... but I posted a thread about losing weight while, and then realised there are some other gals doing just that... So I will ask you my questions, if that is ok??

Here goes... I normally manage my weight by points (weightwatchers) and restrict myself to 18 when trying to lose and 24 when trying to maintain. What is the sensible amount (if there is such a thing) whilst TTC???

I have not been counting points for almost 2months due to TTC and I have put on a few lbs .

I usually do Davina McCall's Cardio Box 3 times a week, but since TTC I have been concerned that it is too strenuous during the 2ww, and have stopped doing it. Do you think I'm being too cautious?? The cardio box has me bouncing around all over the place, lots of kicking and jumping. Or do you think that will be ok??

Basically I do eat a balanced diet, but when I am not counting I tend to eat more than I need and that coupled with only walking as exercise I have put on weight, and really want to lose it all before my BFP.

Sorry for all the questions... Hope no one minds me asking

MrsMcJnr · 30/10/2006 14:45

Hello! You sound exactly like the rest of us Ready so you are in good company! Welcome!

My understanding is that you should do what you normally do both in terms of losing weight and exercise until such time as you are pg and then if you want to carry on, get some advice. For example, I follow (or not as the case may be) Scottish Slimmers and I know that pregnant ladies are allowed more calcium and higher calorie intake but not by much. After all, plans like that and WW are based on a healthy diet and so should be good for us TTC too.

I have that DVD too (haven't done it for a while). Natty and Coggy will keep you right but I would think that as long as you listen to your body, you should be ok, what do you think Natty?

Natty1806 · 30/10/2006 15:15

Yeah think dieting is okay when TTC as long as it is not a silly diet e.g Atkins etc

As for exercise i do worry a bit about over doing it in the gym during my 2ww but then see pictures of Paula Radcliff 6 month preggers and still doing 10k runs.

I am trying to get as fit as possible as this is meant to help with labour and losing weight afterwards, don't think a wee egg would not implate just because you are jumping around.

However as soon as i get that BFP dieting is out the window but healthy eating staying in (only allowed an extra 250 cals in the last 2/3 months when pregnant) also gym is going and i will be walking and swimming.

Good luck and welcome, sorry did not answer your question, would go back to 18 points a day carry on with the exercise and then go back to 24 when lost the weight. x

ready4motherhood · 30/10/2006 17:40

Thanks very much Natty and MrsMc - I will start back on my points then (I feel much more in control when doing that) and will do the Cardio Box (i have actually missed it!!) but will not go mad!

I don't believe in the atkins diet and faddy diets like that... like you say WW is based on a healthy diet, so should be good while TTC.

Here goes the attempt to lose 7lbs before the BFP... I obviously hope that I don't get the chance to lose it all cos I am in my 2ww.

Hope everything is going ok for everyone on this thread! Babydust x

coggy · 30/10/2006 19:33

Why didn't I know Paula Radcliffe was pg???!!!

I have dutifully added puff exercise and alcohol to my chart.............

FIL and DH out pn Weds so I can go to class after all......

MrsMcJnr · 30/10/2006 20:46

Coggy! I have not done much puff exercise recently (as you can see) I have wanted to but the cramps are too uncomfortable at the mo. Bad excuse and the cross trainer might help but then again, it might not!! No class for me this week, have a work function instead.

OP posts:
coggy · 01/11/2006 09:41

I've had to put class off for one more week BUT as you will now see (finally got in to update chart!!) I have done a puff exercise and abs yesterday.

Rather a lot of wine last night so today may be hard!!!!

pinkranger · 01/11/2006 09:49

Hi everyone!

Havent been on here for ages ( been hiding on the sofa with lots of jaffa cakes!)

Well, the only thing i dont think i have eaten latly is SALAD
I have been really naughty and have tryed to hide rom you all but my guilt has brought me back!!
Excersise is non exsistant at the moment , dont know why but i havent managed anything!

Ging to try better with food so here we go!!!!!!!!!

Well done all you on your weight loss xxxxx

MrsMcJnr · 01/11/2006 10:06

Coggy - well done with the puff. I just haven't felt like it the last few days. I can't go to class today either as I have a function tonight (about diamonds but I doubt I'll come home with any!) I have been bad already today, had a muffin with my latte (still v high cals but not as bad as that cake last week!) I will start my efforts again tomorrow and weigh in on Friday. Funny for me but I have not felt like drinking booze at all.

Hello PinkRanger - nice to have you back, jaffa cakes are less evil than most things and who wants to eat salad when it's cold! Give me a bowl of steaming veg soup any day!

Natty - are you like me? last thing on your mind?

Where have the rest of you? come on - 8 weeks till Christmas - we can still do it!

OP posts:
ready4motherhood · 01/11/2006 10:32

I find it easier to work out when the weather is good. When it's cold and damp all I want to do is curl up under a blanket on the sofa eating from the trick or treat bowl We did not get a single trickortreater yesterday... DH said "Oh no what a shame, we have all these sweets leftover!"

Natty1806 · 01/11/2006 10:34

OMG glad i am not the only being crap and this dieting lark. Really need to get a grip 4 weeks till friends wedding.

Healthy eating plan starts Saturday after this Friday's weigh in which will be another gain i am sorry to say.

Yeah mrs not really the top thing on my mind this week, however when AF arrives on Tues am sure i will back on track.

coggy · 01/11/2006 10:50

Well.........I said that a few days ago but when AF comes you feel fed up and want to stuff loads of junk down and you also feel too bloated and fat to exercise!!!!!!

Oh...there's simply no good time to exercise and diet on the ttc merry-go-round is there!!!????

Natty1806 · 01/11/2006 10:52

No, not really, oh well am sure we will pile on the weight anyway once we get our BFP so whats an extra few pounds going to do.

MrsMcJnr · 01/11/2006 11:01

I'm just banking on getting a weight loss when PG as a result of giving up the booze.

Felt like some frazzles this morning so bought Boots low fat version - gone in 10 seconds and now wish I hadn't bothered . I know Coggy already had porridge, muffin, latte and the crisps and it's only 11am. This is what I do when I feel down!

OP posts:
coggy · 01/11/2006 12:23

LOL at how hopeless we are all being at the moment!!

I have just done some shopping and bought some pate (low-fat version but still high fat!!) and other yummy (and a few naughty things) but I am going to make a MASSIVE effort not to have crisps, cakes and extra snacks that aren't needed as much as possible.

Bought lots of fruit so I'll try that first if I'm peckish!!!

No exercise yet today..........save it for tomorrow I think!!!!

MrsMcJnr · 01/11/2006 12:38

Well, I figure that we should eat our fill of pate, things with raw egg in, blue cheese, unpasturised things, nuts (that was a new one for me!) and shellfish whilst we can!!

OP posts:
pinkranger · 01/11/2006 12:40

i seconed that - I LOVE pate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

coggy · 01/11/2006 12:42

Exactly my thinking........AF arrives and so does the pate and wine and stilton as a consolation prize!!!!!

ready4motherhood · 01/11/2006 12:44

What nuts are you not allowed when PG? Is it just peanuts or there others?? I adore nuts - especially almonds and brazils... please tell me that I am not going to have to give those up?? If I do, then I will just have to eat crisps

MrsMcJnr · 01/11/2006 12:45

It's got to be smooth though Pinky, don't like the lumpy, jelly stuff - eeeeghh! (which is funny because I am a crunchy peanut butter girl but I know what those lumps are!), my Mum always mixes sherry in with her bought pates - tastes nice but invariably, they all taste the same after that!!

OP posts:
coggy · 01/11/2006 12:46

jUST PEANUTS i THINK.

Opps.....sorry!!

ready4motherhood · 01/11/2006 12:47

Phew!

coggy · 01/11/2006 12:47

LOL MrsMc..........don't worry..we all enjoy reading your cr*p!!!!!!!

All this talk of oatcakes and pate is making me peckish (not really the idea of this thread...... ).......I'm off for lunch!!!!!!
