Over here all breastfeeding TTCers! Welcome to our thread - a place for us to come for support, information and to talk about the extra challenges of TTC while still breastfeeding.

Seeing as I filled up the old thread I thought I should start the new one!

For anyone who is new to the thread or needs a reminder, here are a few links to some useful websites (thanks Waiting for putting these together). I hope I've worked the links properly.

You know it's been a bad night when you are looking forward to a check up at the dentist cos you can lie there with eyes closed!

RosieRue52 · 30/01/2015 13:38

May I join if I'm not local?
Found you lovely ladies while researching how to jump start fertility while bf and fell in love with this thread!

1DS- 7 months, not quite TTC yet, as no AF
But would like figure out my cycle, try to get O going & concieve before DS 1st bday

Today was the 1st day I was able
(got enough sleep and remembered)
to take temp.
Cake to all!

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 14:27

Rosie you don't need to be local to join us. I have no idea where everyone lives Grin If temping doesn't work you could always try the clearblue smiley sticks as you don't need AF to return before using them...maybe in a couple of months closer to when DC turns 1!

Hide - conceive plus is like sperm friendly ky. It's meant to help sperm live longer or have a happy environment...something like that anyway! I used it with DS so it obviously works. Strange that boots and Superdrug would pull it off its shelves though...makes me suspicious.

RosieRue52 · 30/01/2015 15:25

Yaay! Smile
Pear- thanks I'll keep that in mind, would I just use them when cm seems to be more fertile?

I spotted for 2 days the start of the year.
Then had horrible mood swings the following week. I have also noticed cramping, sometimes on 1 side sometimes all over, which is why I want to start temp diligently.

When ever you ladies have a chance mind sharing where you are on your TTC journey?!

australopithecus · 30/01/2015 16:01

hide that's what I thought too, but the perceived wisdom (or shout that be conceived wisdom) seems to be it is faint before LH surge and then gets dead dark or darker but still a tiny bit lighter than control when you surge.
I don't knoooo-ooo-oooow!!!! Confused

hideandsqueak · 30/01/2015 16:02

Hi Rosie! I am BF my DS who is 15 months and have been TTC for 3 cycles. I haven't really tried to cut down but that is something I am looking at next. Last cycle I used some ovulation sticks that were cheap off amazon. I am 31.

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 16:06

Rosie ~ you can use them whenever. I used them for DC1 and just started the day they arrived in the post until I got a smiley face.

My story: TTC dc2 (currently on 3rd cycle since tracking began). My DS is 20mths and I'm bf 7am & 7pm (took 4 months to conceive him). AF returned when DS turned 14 months but cycles have taken along time to shorten. The first cycle of tracking I didn't detect ovulation but I did in the last cycle so hopefully I'm back on track and ready to lay another egg next week Wink

australopithecus · 30/01/2015 16:19

Hi Rosie! What's local? :)
DC 10 months, no AF yet, cut down from feed on demand to two feeds (occasionally three) per 24hrs end of 2014 and desperately hoping I am about to ovulate based on CM and very confusing OPKs (and thus shagging a lot!) It's probably not going to happen, but trying anyway.

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 17:42

Austral I've got my ?? crossed for you Wink

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 17:42

Sorry could find a fingers crossing icon

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 18:15

OK so because you ladies have been discussing IC OPKs I just did one. I've got a strong line and a faint line. Weird. The packet (one step) says that counts as negative. It says you need two strong lines as strong as each other for it to be a positive.

australopithecus · 30/01/2015 18:19

Well, tonight's showed two strong lines immediately so I am indeed hoping that was a run-up and I will now ovulate. Or at least try to. Will keep you posted! :)

australopithecus · 30/01/2015 18:44

Thanks pear!

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 18:57

Austral ~ how exciting! How many days have you been getting the faint lines? Are we saying that faint lines mean a lead up to two strong lines? I can see truth in that!

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 18:59

I really feel positive for this thread today Smile

australopithecus · 30/01/2015 19:05

Yes, that's what the vague consensus appears to be! It's not what the official "rules" tell you though. So about three days (the days all flow into each other these days but I think it is about right!) of easy to spot but still fainter than the control line results. Before that a day or so of very faint lines, and before that no lines. What makes tonight's different too was that the test line showed up strongly immediately rather than gradually growing darker. It would be really really good to know that all the rubbishyness for both me and DC of cutting down bfing so suddenly actually worked!

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 19:14

Austral ~ I'll keep testing with the IC OPks. In theory though I shouldn't be ovulating until Thursday so I feel it's a big early but hey you never know! Perhaps my shorter cycles mean I'll Ov quicker this month. I'm on cd12 and the average women ov on cd14 after all!

hideandsqueak · 30/01/2015 19:43

Ooh austral that is very exciting! Of course It would make sense that the lighter lines lead up to darker lines.

I am banning myself from testing until Monday morning now. It's so addictive! AF due tuesday.

MarysPrayer · 30/01/2015 21:04

Just checking in to say hi to everyone. Nothing interesting going on: cd5

Gonna start doing opks in the next few days. I started on cd10 last month and was surprised to get a +ve on cd 12. That seemed a bit early since my previous cycle had been 29 days long but sure enough AF arrived exactly two weeks later, making that cycle 26 days - at least I now my leutal phase is normal!

MarysPrayer · 30/01/2015 21:07

at least I know (typo)

peardrop2 · 30/01/2015 23:53

Eeek hide!! Are you peeing really fast in the morning so you avoid testing temptation? Wink hardcore!! Have you had any 2ww symptoms? So you feel pregnant? Anything?!

Morning all!

I have been a bit lurker-ish recently - partly because I have been busy with work and partly because it has been extremely dull in the knicker / OPK department. Pear I think I am due to ovulate the same time as you. So next week will be busy and DH will be back from his ski trip by Tuesday (really hoping I don't ovulate before then but not looking likely at the moment).

Pear I think you are right - this thread is due a few BFPs. This month is going to be the start of a good run, I am sure!! Hide you have amazing willpower but perhaps you will be first?!

Austral OPKs are so annoying! Over the last 12 months while we were TTC but with no AF I had several almost positives with relatively strong lines (but always weaker than the control) but obviously never quite managed to surge. If you've managed to get a positive then FX things will be moving for you now!!

I have reported the weirdo post urging us to all call priest Joshua for a pregnancy spell. Think I might try my own pregnancy spell though... wanders off in search of DD's flashing magic wand
