To continue the support for everyone 40 and over who is or wants ttc. Lots of hand-holding and understanding, we're all together in the uphill struggle.

jass keeping fingers and toes crossed! a BFP is a BFP! Flowers

ChewyGiraffe · 05/02/2015 12:17

JassS - just popped on to catch up a bit and seems like I picked a great moment to do it. Congrats on your BFP! I can understand why you might feel a little apprehensive, but you've identified a few things you've done differently this time, so lets hope they'll help you to look after a lovely sticky bean. I only know a tiny bit about prednisolone, but hope that it might be the key to things for you. I'll be honest, I've never heard of lovenox, but when I try to read between the lines to gauge how you feel about taking it - it sounds like your gut feeling is to leave it out, so I'd perhaps skip it? But anyway, look after yourself - just brilliant news!

jassS · 05/02/2015 13:24

Lovenox is a long-used drug to help implantation, but lately it has come up in some research that unless you need it, it might make things worse. It is a blood thinner like heparin or baby aspirin.
Th eprob with Pred is that I once did it and got to 20dpo stronger than usual, but then lost it at 21-22 dpo.....This is my story - hcg dips between 14-18 DPO and then goes back up, but the dip means the fetus is dead and the rest is just tissue.Last time a fetus formed but did not make it to heartbeat. I was sorry that since I discovered late that pg it made no sense to start pred anymore, and I still think maybe if it went as far as it did withou tpred it could have pulled through with it. Hence taking it this time.

DrDiva · 05/02/2015 14:11

jass ! Thanks I have everything crossed for you.

joey38 · 05/02/2015 15:53

Hi jass keeping everything crossed for you. Have you thought about going to your doctor to ask them for some progesterone pessaries? My consultant prescribed them for me a while back, and told me to start taking them as soon as I get a BFP. That's not happened yet, so I have a stock of them sitting in the cupboard. Might be worth an ask of your GP though? I really hope this one sticks for you.

Cloud and Fridge my cycle buddies - wow, you have done amazingly well on dtd - I take my hat off to you!! We only managed it 3 times!! Both of us have been feeling off colour and absolutely knackered. We did manage to time one though with the day of a smiley opk, and my temps have definitely risen, so you never know. That makes me about 3dpo now, so a long wait ahead. How are you both feeling?

I'm looking forward to spring now. Winter is too cold to try and make a baby - once I'm all cosy in bed with my pjs and hot water bottle, the last thing I want to do is take them off again!!! Grin

notsoold · 05/02/2015 17:21

Jazz....fingers crossed for you and it is a bfp!!! Xxx

notsoold · 05/02/2015 17:22

I meant jass.. and not jazz

jassS · 05/02/2015 17:31

Joey, I am on progesteron since OV plus 2 days, not only bfp. So already on it. From bfp is a position lots of GPs weirdly support, but the rmc spesialists think if a person has low progesterone, the risk is mostly in the week before bfp. So at bfp it may prolong miscarriage. rather than help. There are of course people who save their pregancies starting from bfp, but it makes much more sense to supplement in LP.
Thanks for all good wishes everybody!

SeeWotHappens · 05/02/2015 17:57

Jass, everything crossed for you girl xx

mustbemad71 · 05/02/2015 18:03

Jass congrats on your BFP and fingers for a sticky one.

I'm off to docs tomorrow morning after my chem last week. Thanks for info about supps girls - willask GP what she thinks I should take.

Grizzer · 05/02/2015 18:04

Everything crossed here too Jass & whispering a quiet 'congratulations'.

cloudjumper · 05/02/2015 18:09

Jass, hoping this will be your sticky one!

My temps went up another notch today, no dips so far. I am symptom-spotting like crazy and feel literally sick with anxiety - very hard to focus on work today! At the same time, I Really don't want to test yet! Confused Every time I wipe, I stare at the tissue for ages to check for any spotting... Sorry tmi! Not sure I will be able to hold out until Sunday at this rate.

Cloud everything crossed for you too.

Getting a BFP in your forties should be renamed the 12 week wait, urgh!

joey38 · 05/02/2015 19:45

What day is your af due cloud?

reni1 · 05/02/2015 22:24

Hope for a sticky bean, Jass and good luck cloud.

I am cd9, about 1-2 days before usual ovulation (as measured by opk) and had a huge temperature drop today. Is it not supposed to jump up?

Fridgedooropen · 05/02/2015 23:21

We didn't manage it last night Sad DH, who has been good to go the rest of the time, was just too tired and I was pretty tired myself. Took my own advice to you joey and decided not to stress about it. We've managed it on days 8, 10, 11 (first day positive OPK) and 12 (second day positive OPK) so it's not precisely SMEP but a good effort. Going to try for one more tonight which is day 15 of my cycle and is the 'one more for luck' day of SMEP anyway.

Best of luck jass

Supplements - I take Pregnacare and also Vitamin B. DH needs to get back on his, but last time round he was advised to take magnesium, zinc and vitamin E by fertility consultant (had a mild sperm motility issue) and it was after 2/3 months on those that we conceived, so definitely worth trying.

cloud I don't test myself as I'd rather stick with the fantasy of being pregnant until AF tells me otherwise. Ignorance is bliss for me! When I conceived last time I only tested when AF was 5 days overdue.

Fridgedooropen · 05/02/2015 23:24

reni the jump to a higher temp is supposed to happen after you've ovulated, I thought from what others have said. So you wouldn't get that yet. No need to worry then.

ICallHimGerald · 06/02/2015 09:52

fridge I know exactly what you mean about keeping the fantasy alive! I don't test much any more even when Af is late. Except though when I am getting my hopes up far too much!

jass congratulations on your positive. Really really hoping this is the one that you have been waiting for.

reni1 · 06/02/2015 11:27

Static smile on the cb opk. Let's get this straight: A plastic stick shows me an electronic smile and I start the day happy Hmm

cloudjumper · 06/02/2015 12:18

reni Grin Yes, the world of ttc is a mysterious one! I see your electronic smile and raise you a 43-year-old, professional (or so I'd like to think), scientifically trained woman who squints at toilet tissue for 5 min after each wipe to decide whether it has a pink tinge to it Confused

The madness is everywhere...

OP posts:
reni1 · 06/02/2015 13:06

Oh yes, the wipe-and-squint, cloud Smile, maybe it is possible to record the colours and plot them on a graph to go with the opk and the temperature charts?

fromwesttoeast · 06/02/2015 13:41

Reni, I am cd11 today and trying out temping for first time. My chart so far looks nothing like the examples given! Mine has been on a steady upward march, apart from one dip which occurred during the days of AF. I do have a bit of a sore throat though, which may have affected things.

reni1 · 06/02/2015 15:21

Fromwest, I'm cd10 and opk says ov imminent, first month of temping. Temp has been low, but very variable so far (from 35.7-36.2C with no pattern) and yesterday dropped hugely. I am hoping it will shoot up tomorrow. The gallery on ff doesn't have many slope-type charts like you describe, but a huge variety, maybe everyone has their own "typical" one... Are you doing opk as well?

Those of you who have been temping long, is your chart similar from month to month?

daftgeranium · 06/02/2015 17:31

reni so far my charts have differed a bit - but I have had a dip in temperature before ovulation, every time....

fromwesttoeast · 06/02/2015 19:48

I'm not doing opk. In the past I've been quite good at just estimating my fertile times, and have been correct in last 3 pregnancies ( last 2 of which were mc). I thought I would try temping just to see how it tallies with my usual estimates.
It's interesting though to try to understand more and what Daft just said about the dip...very interesting.
