Here, we go, nice new thread.
Might be helpful to have some stats so we know where we all are?

I will start, farfallarocks - TTC#2, cycle 11. 1st brooking baby DD, 21 months. Investigations reveal high FSH and potentially starting IVF.

Appt done - bit disappointing to be honest. Basically we were told that we'd need ICSI. We've known that for ages. Mr Imps is having another blood test and giving a back-up sample of sperm to freeze, we've filled in a form and that's it. It was hinted that egg collection will probably be in about 3 months time.

I think I was expecting a start date for treatment on the basis that we've already had all of the tests/confirmation of the treatment that we need. Oh well, just need to be patient really.

farfallarocks · 03/12/2014 18:20

Oh no imps how irritating, any ideas of next steps?

We're going to a seminar on 6 Jan, then I will be booked in my for consultation a couple of weeks after that (although we're on holiday for 2 weeks so it will more likely be mid-Feb) and then I'm not sure.

Just want it to hurry up really - it's been 10 months since the first NHS referral. I know we're very lucky to get NHS funding but just getting a bit impatient - esp bearing in mind that it may take several cycles.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/12/2014 19:24

How annoying Cups. I thought this was a consultation for you. They must do it slightly differently there opposed to our one. Once you have your consultation booked in, the pace will really pick up. That's when it gets exciting. Just think, have a amazing Christmas, as this time next year you'll be up the duff!!

I've always said, the waiting around is the worst part of IVF. It's awful. But you absolutely will get there. I'm brooking no argument x

Munxx · 03/12/2014 20:11

CUPS!!!!!

I am in actual tears. Oh my goodness.

Everything crossed far

Oh Far :(

keepitgoing · 04/12/2014 09:30

oh no far Sad. I'm so sorry x

TurtledoveTamer · 04/12/2014 10:54

Sorry to hear that Far

I think I will write to my MP and ask him to investigate the sheer number of faulty pee sticks that are for sale in this country. Too many of my lovely Brookers are being affected.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/12/2014 11:18

I'm so sorry Far Sad

keepitgoing · 04/12/2014 12:44

imps that is annoying. sounds like a bit of a wasted appointment. still, with Christmas and a holiday in the way 3 months will fly by! I bet you know more than anyone else at the information evening...

we have a clinic appt re frosties and fet on the 19th. but since I haven't found a job we can't afford to do it all yet Sad

trix that's a big saving on petrol.

keepitgoing · 04/12/2014 12:45

oops sorry. do you want to work? would you be sad to move from your family? what does mrtrix do, are there no jobs for him closer? it'd be a shame to move to a smaller house maybe?

cartoontrickster · 04/12/2014 13:06

oh far I'm sorry.
imps yes I am sort of just waiting for something to happen and everything to sort itself out! Boo that your appointment didn't really feel like you were getting anywhere.
keep honestly no I don't want to work really but I'm sure not many mums do actually want to go back to work! I'd hate to move away from my family etc but I can see how it might be better for us as a family but moving costs loads and probably would have to be a smaller house. I don't want to down size.
sorry you haven't found a job yet. its shit about the money isn't it, we can't really afford to pay to have treatment again so will just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best when we ttc.

cartoontrickster · 04/12/2014 13:18

Mr trix hasn't been able to find anything that pays enough closer to home. Sad

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 04/12/2014 17:43

Oh Far I am so very sorry it was a bfn. I don't think it's any easier to deal with even if your expecting it. I know I still held out hope on my second cycle with my one embryo that was graded poor and abnormal by the embryologist. I know it's little consolation but make sure you have a few nice glasses of wine, some lovely food and give minifar lots of cuddles xxx

Munx thank you so much! How are your DC doing? Lovely to hear from you

Keep great news on the appt, fingers crossed on the job front. Am I right in thinking FET is around £1k? Will you incur extra costs transferring the embies over to the UK?

Imps sorry to hear it's going to take a bit longer. I totally get your frustration as it took me a while to start our first cycle. Hopefully the wait won't be too bad as you will be so busy over the next few weeks. I think most of us ivf Brookers have had ICSI too so you are in good company. Have you got any ivf books? I have a copy of Zita Wests assisted conception book. I find her a bit preachy but as a rough guide to ivf it's pretty good. I would be happy to post it to you.

Cartoon and Maybe we really need to move too as live in a small 2 bed terrace, I started panicking that I've no space for a pram yesterday! I don't really think we can afford to move either but we are going to get the house valued and see where we can go from there. It's so frustrating.

keepitgoing · 04/12/2014 17:44

it sounds to me you'd be better waiting for him to get a job near where you are now. he could get a lower paid one even and you find a job, perhaps PT if your mum can do childcare. then maybe he would find a better job locally further down the line and you could poss stop.

I actually do want to go back to work now. I'll miss her like crazy of course. I'd love to work PT eventually, that'd be perfect for me

keepitgoing · 04/12/2014 17:55

hey cups Grin when's your 12 week scan?

I think a natural fet would be about £500; the main cost will be getting the embies which will be £2000+...

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 04/12/2014 18:06

Yikes Keep £2000?? Well we all know this ivf lark is not cheap. We somehow managed to spend £2000 on extras on our last nhs cycle. We are so lucky we got 3 cycles on the nhs.

My scan is on Tuesday, I am absolutely bricking it. I've just googled how likely it is to miscarry after a good scan at 10 weeks. I'm kicking myself as I found so many bad stories.

By the way has anyone used one of those Dreamgenii pillow? I was thinking of getting one as I'm a front sleeper to try to keep more on my side. I've started with pains in my bum and lower back in the past week which Dr Google informs me is probably pelvic girdle pain so I'm thinking I should invest in one of the pillows sooner rather than later.

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 04/12/2014 18:12

Oh I forgot to say welcome back to Iwas! I think I remember you, did your name have the letters JT? Congrats on DC3!

iwasabrooker · 04/12/2014 18:26

Yes that's me :) Congratulations to you too!

My scan is Monday! I seem unreasonably nervous this time. I guess I just feel lucky to already have my two boys. Blush

I have a Mothercare V shaped pillow thingie which will be coming to bed with me soon. it's not as big as the dreamgenii though. I think I had an arrangement of 3 different pillows by the end last time.

I should really be iamabrooker....did not think of that.

Grr for BFN far. :(

iamabrooker · 04/12/2014 18:27

that's better!

cartoontrickster · 04/12/2014 20:36

cups see the doc if that pelvic girdle pain gets bad. mine was terrible and I still get pains. I've had a physio session and will have another in Jan. mainly to sort my pelvic floor Blush , but she said I should have been coming while I was pregnant. she's given me a stretch to do to relieve the ache I get under my right bum cheek. she knew as soon as I told her about that ache that I had a suffered with pelvic girdle. look forward to your scan news soon!
keep I think part time work would be ideal. still can't imagine leaving N though. I think I'm the clingy one I don't spend much time away from him.

Solars · 05/12/2014 11:00

Far I'm so sorry to hear that. Are you in today for your blood test too at ARGC?

Iam I'm not sure I know you Confused congratulations and good luck with the scan on Monday.

Cups I used the dreamgenii just made sleeping a bit more comfortable but I was lucky I didn't suffer any pains so not sure how it works with relieving that. So good to see you here and looking forward to hearing about your scan news next week!

Wow Keep £2000!! Let's hope you and Trix find jobs soon.

Big wave to Munx and Maybe

Imps Brooking that time goes quickly for your next appointment! The waiting for ivf/ icsi to start is frustrating but it'll go by quickly once you get going as will pregnancy and that first year of the baby's!!!

farfallarocks · 05/12/2014 11:27

Hi solars, yes they have called and confirmed the negative today. Not a surprise, all the girls I cycled with (5) also got a negative, gutted for them as most have no kids and this was their last shot. So today I am counting my blessings for littlefar big time!

cups I had the dreamgeni but did not get on with it at all, I just used a normal pillow under the bump. However I gave it my friends and she raves about it and now uses it as a feeding cushion for her twins!

Hope you all have good weekends brookers and thank you for all your support. I am brooking no argument we will all get our BFPs soon!
