Here, we go, nice new thread.
Might be helpful to have some stats so we know where we all are?

I will start, farfallarocks - TTC#2, cycle 11. 1st brooking baby DD, 21 months. Investigations reveal high FSH and potentially starting IVF.

ooh far 2 weeks Grin Grin so exciting x

Imps9 · 30/10/2014 06:47

Eh? How can they close a referral without talking to you about it?

keepitgoing · 30/10/2014 08:05

because they're rubbish... expecting a call back today with an explanation!

Stacks · 30/10/2014 09:04

Hope you get some answers and an apology Keep.

Sending Brooking vibes to all. Busy morning here, but you dropped off my TIO.

farfallarocks · 30/10/2014 14:44

pasta where do you live? Is it Rome? I have a friend there, hmmmm, maybe I need to plan a visit!!

keep how annoying! At least you chased and I am brooking no argument they sort themselves speedily!

I am panicking about work and IVF and keeping everything juggling, not knowing when you are starting is really playing havoc with my work planning! Did you all take time off?

OP posts:
Pastamancer · 30/10/2014 14:49

Rome? Ha ha ha ha. I'm Cornish :o

keepitgoing · 31/10/2014 08:35

far I wasn't working last time. others were and just took off EC and the day after. it's hard to plan, how flexible is your job? have you told them what's happening? are you doing short protocol? if so you will stimm between 10-17 days, av 14, then trigger. if you need lots of notice I might try and stay in work for the first 10/12 days and work scans round work, then take a week off and assume EC would be then. ET doesn't take long and you could go to work after; I know people who did.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 31/10/2014 10:50

I wasn't working either Far, if I honest, I don't think I could've. I was on long protocol, and the drugs really took their toll on me. I also couldn't have made it to the scans and bloods around work, it would've been a 5 hour round trip. I think you need to see how practical it would be for you. Are you telling work?

keepitgoing · 31/10/2014 13:33

so i have spoken to the clinic and they need masses of details around processes etc from our thai clinic to ensure that the hfea quality standards are met. I can see this taking forever...

maybe did you take off from the beginning of downregging then till bfp? I can't remember now. did you have it as sick leave i think?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 01/11/2014 11:04

Oh Keep, what a mission! Do you think it will e fairly easy to do?

I had just got offered a new job, so I delayed my start date

keepitgoing · 01/11/2014 14:02

no I think it will be massively complicated, expensive, and that our nhs clinic (we will be self pay) won't be arsed Angry
maybe I'll have to go on an extended holiday. though still can't leave kip so don't see how that'd work
argh

NoMaybeAboutIt · 01/11/2014 19:53

What a pain in the arse Keep. But yes to a Thai holibob!! Could you bring her with you maybe?

Imps9 · 04/11/2014 07:09

Keep I think an extended trip to Thailand may be the answer. Bit tricky with Kip but you'll be able to work around that. In the meantime it won't hurt to get all the paperwork I to as much of a good shape as you can. I share your heavy heart though - nothing more frustrating or slow than public sector red tape.

Far what's the latest?? Squeeeee! I too am very worried about combining IVF with work. I work a 45 min drive away and clinic is 20 min drive in opposite direction so I will have to be in late a lot etc. it will not go unnoticed by anyone. I would desperately love not to tell my boss - I might just say that I am having some medical treatment and see if he asks. Arrgggg such faff though.

Have got a bloody awful chest infection at the moment. Chuffing well hope that it fucks off before I go on holibobs at the weekend (squeeeeeee!).

How's everyone else doing?

farfallarocks · 04/11/2014 17:41

Pasta I am clearly going mad! Still a lovely part of the world and we have spent happy weekends there! Has your DH found a new job?

keep that is so frustrating! I think a trip to Thailand sounds great though and maybe better for the embies? How do they transport them? Presumably FET is a lot less stressful on the body? Would you do a natural FET?

maybe and keep thanks for the advice on working. My office is very supportive and I have told them I will be doing IVF and will tell them when I start. I was going to try and work for the first week of stimming where its just a morning bloodtest and scan so I will be in late. The 2nd week can be twice a day so trickier and then I was going to take a couple of days off after EC and a couple of days after ET. But if its all getting too much I will take time off. It's so hard as this is the most important thing to me and yet I have clients and a team that rely on me. I also think maybe working in 2ww might be a good distraction!

IMPS I have heard GPs will sign you off for gynae operation for a couple of weeks for IVF and that way you don't have to fess up! Hope you start feeling better soon!

I am awaiting AF and I think she is on her way, first time I have actively willed her on! I know we are out this month as we missed ovulation, not by long but I ovulated on day 10 or something like that and it was babyfar's birthday weekend so no time and no inclination until day 12!
So I might be starting this week, if FSH plays ball as they like it be to be under or close to 10. Eeeeeeek.

In terms of diet I am doing high protein, lots of orange foods and will be drinking a litre of milk when the cycle starts (blergh!)

farfallarocks · 04/11/2014 17:42

p.s. I am also mega distracted at work spending way too much time on fertility friends and googling short flare protocol and hysteroscopy

gah

keepitgoing · 04/11/2014 21:22

brooking for your FSH far! how exciting. great that work are being good; one less worry

I think I'd like to do a natural fet, but will see what the clinic says. tbh I don't think I can do a trip as how could I plan that round my cycles etc. we will see. transporting them is complex; I think one way is literally some guy keeping the frozen canister on the seat with him Grin. I mean you don't want to lose them!

I have a job interview next Friday ...

farfallarocks · 05/11/2014 09:52

Exciting stuff keep, similar sort of role or something new? Are you looking forward to it? The idea of going back to work is terrifying from memory but the reality is actually ok and I must admit some mornings with far is being very 2 I am quite relieved to have a break from it all!
