Is anyone else ttc after an ectopic pregnancy?

Hi,

I had an ectopic pregnancy at Christmas and lost my right Fallopian tube. Been trying to conceive since but nothing yet. Trying not to feel too down. Early days I guess!

The surgeon said having only one Fallopian tube wouldn't reduce my chances of conceiving by 50%. But didn't explain much more about how or why.

Is there anyone else out there in a similar position?

Anyone with happy endings after an ep? Can I ask how long it took you to conceive?

I worry the odds are not stacked in my favour.

TIA

Hey Caitmous
I'm sorry to hear about your ectopic at Christmas.
I'm not currently ttc, but a positive story for you.
Your body is amazing: because your ovaries aren't attached to a fallopian tube, they sort of float about, an egg released from your right ovary can still be collected by your left tube. There is a website that is a fab source of knowledge and support post ectopic pregnancies:
[[http://www.ectopic.org.uk/ ectopic pregnancy trust]]

I've only got one tube following an ectopic.
We left it a little longer than you before ttc again (my stitches weren't up to it for about 2 months), but have conceived both boys within 3 months each time.
Fingers crossed for some happy news soon

Thanks so much Addicted. Great advice. I will check out the website. And brilliant to hear you have two lovely boys too. Proof it can be done Smile

Not quite the same as you but I had a very late miscarriage last year after ttc for 18 months ish. We have been trying since. Doc referred me for a tube patency test and it turns out I have a blocked right tube!!

Seems like I have had since abdominal surgery from 10 years ago and that is probably the reason it took us so long the first time! I am kind of glad I know now why it is taking so long but also I'm sad cos all I want to be is pregnant. I have a follow up appointment in a few weeks but I guess I'm just going to be told to keep trying.

In my head I have half as much chance of getting pregnant every month than if I had both tubes. I have heard of this catching the egg from other ovary but I think stats are that it only occurs in 10% of people if even that Confused

Dingaling that's fantastic news - congratulations!

BumWad I feel the same. I wonder if getting pregnant is the only way to solve the heartache.

I am sorry too to hear about your mc. I had a twelve week mc then got pregnant straight away but it was ectopic. Such horrible luck.

Hopefully it'll be us with the BFPs soon x
