A thread for anyone TTC with a ClearBlue Fertility Monitor!

Morning ladies!! I was hunting around for a recent thread for anyone TTC with a CBFM but couldn't find any - please let me know if one is ongoing that I didn't find!! But otherwise I wanted a place to share experiences with other ladies using this rather interesting gadget. It makes big claims for success!!

About me - I'm TTC baby #1, cycle #3, expecting AF or BFP on 2-12 June.

I'm still having slightly long cycles after stopping the pill - this is my first cycle using the monitor properly, because my last cycle went on for 40 days, and the machine got bored and stopped asking for sticks after 25 days!!

I'm currently on CD09 and had my first day of a high reading today, although I know the machine gives out high readings like they're going out of fashion so not reading much into that! Will be kicking off the SMEP (sperm meets egg plan!) from today though anyway just to be sure.

Would love to hear from you!! Smile

Mel3062 · 28/05/2014 12:15

Aw thanks ladies and huge congrats on the positive test :) I chart my temps too which is why ff calculated I ovulated day 10!
Hopefully next month it will be used to me abit!
I'm always up early I'm afraid I could blame the prednisolone but as soon as it's 4.45 I'm awake so have to get up :(

blankfornames · 28/05/2014 12:16

Hi Grand. My sticks are the same as yours! I'm on CD13. The left line was slightly less dark this morning but it's always the left line that is the strongest. I'll stick up a photo when I get home. Hope the witch stays away!

Mel3062 · 28/05/2014 12:19

Abit symptoms?

TheGrandHighWitch · 28/05/2014 12:19

It's possible that you are simply noticing them more. Using the monitor means you know you are approaching ovulation so you know that symptoms at that time = ovulation, whereas before you may have put it down to an off day or a cold/virus or something. Especially when ovulation occurs later than you thought it would.

As if symptom spotting for BFP's aren't enough to occupy us Grin.

I am currently 2dpo and my symptoms include:
Nausea
Headaches
Backache
Cramps
Bloating

And to top it off, sore breasts complete with a randomly sore nipple (sorry for tmi). Confused

Of course I have now gone from linking those symptoms to ovulation to linking them to a BFP..... It's going to be quite a wait.

hedwiggity · 28/05/2014 12:29

i have 4 clearblue pg tests and a FRER think i'm turning into a hoarder Smile can't use them yet thought earliest test date will be 16/6/14 AF day if AF is so much as 2 hours late im testing like a mad loon lol

Mel3062 · 28/05/2014 12:58

I'm terrible when boots have frer on 2 for 1! I have loads but have to test early due to my meds though I don't as hate seeing bfn :(
You need to get busy lady ;)

TheGrandHighWitch · 28/05/2014 13:10

Quite right Mel3062, what are you doing on here Hedwiggity? I think there is something else you should be doing with your time..... Grin

I have 10 internet cheapy tests but am not far from shops that sell branded ones if needs be. I plan to test daily from the 5th June until I get an answer.

hedwiggity · 28/05/2014 13:30

DTD for night times only lol and right now i have stabby tummy pains and my waistband is making my skin crawl !! Sad the idea of DTD is so not appealing right now Angry but it needs to be !! lol

TheGrandHighWitch · 28/05/2014 13:36

Oh dear. Not a fun time for you then. Maybe DTD will help you take your mind off the symptoms? At the very least, you won't have to worry about your waistband.... silver lining and all that.

hedwiggity · 28/05/2014 14:14

think i'll wait till tommorow and see what the monitor reading is OH is tired from work too he doesn't really feel like trying today either

hedwiggity · 28/05/2014 19:56

TMI alert .. DTD accomplished mooncup inserted and now the waiting trying not to pee game Grin
pic of my monotir and stick too Smile weirdly proud of it lol

A thread for anyone TTC with a ClearBlue Fertility Monitor!
Mel3062 · 28/05/2014 20:06

Aw wonderful ;) yes I've got a mooncup too! You may get the egg symbol tomorrow :) x good luck

hedwiggity · 28/05/2014 20:21

thanks mel the mooncup even went in no fuss lol usually it gets messy Blush its like its meant to be i bloody hope so approaching 8 months of trying and its getting frustrating now

hedwiggity · 28/05/2014 20:22

i think you get 2-3 highs and then an egg peak symbol ? i dont know

ChandlersFarang · 29/05/2014 03:30

Witch - looking at your pics, our sticks are the same way round. The same line is always darker on mine too. Phew! Smile

Hed - you can get up to five/six high readings I think, if your cycle isn't 15 years long like mine (hello CD24//13th day of high reading!!)... So don't wear yourself out!! Wink Need to get some of those cup things if I'm not lucky this cycle... Will get them when I'm back in the UK next month!

Morning ladies! Just catching up on all your news! Quick update from me, just had first peak at cd15 Smile

Mel3062 · 29/05/2014 06:26

Super news another lady getting busy ;)
I'm on day 21 and yet another high reading, when I looked it looked like I had a second faint line on the stick though ff said I'm 11dpo and due af tomorrow! Temp has gone up too. I'm using the new digital monitor, just hope it's worth the money as I've used the digi sticks too which showed a positive on day 7!

blankfornames · 29/05/2014 09:43

Happy days Guineapig1! I'm a day behind you on CD14 but still showing 'high'. I thought all signs were pointing to ov yday but no go. Confused

I'm currently using the 'dipping for 15 seconds' technique, but the last few days my second line is getting quite smudged... any ideas what I'm doing wrong?!

ChandlersFarang · 29/05/2014 11:00

Mel how confusing that the monitor is still asking for sticks when you've already had positive OPKs..!! I would trust the OPKs given it's your first cycle on the monitor and it's still getting used to you. (Although I have heard of some people getting an LH surge which gives the positive OPK but then not actually ov'ing... The body then gears up and has a second surge later in the cycle and then ov happens. Who knows!). I wouldn't trust the app above the monitor or the OPKs for sure tho! Apps assume we're all regular as clockwork so have never worked for me. I use mine just to record AF, CM, any ov/preg symptoms and what the monitor has been saying so I can check back later (which has been really handy actually).

Now CD24 on my third epic cycle, but feeling like ov may finally be in the post... Despite constant negative OPKs, am getting slightly darker LH line on the CBFM sticks, and wetter CM. DH now getting back from work trip earlier, tonight!! Phew!! All to play for!!

Guineapig - get to work!! GrinWink

On the dipping - I go for 15 counts too, funnily enough have noticed today's one looked a bit 'flooded'!! Will try less tomorrow.

I know I think I'll be going through the box this month :( I tend to wait for the wee to go up the test stick then put it in the monitor. I've tried to Dtd the 3 days I had postive sticks (around day 8) then Dtd every other day since so fingers crossed it's covered. That happened before as ff changed my ovul to day 23 which is unheard of and had stopped Dtd so abit paranoid!!
I'm on cyclogest and steroids and af doesn't appear to arrive until I stop cyclogest which is also annoying :/
Oh well best get some more sticks ordered.
Good luck ladies! X

lullaby23 · 29/05/2014 14:04

Hi ladies,

Reading all the responses with interest!

Ok, using a mooncup is a new one on me, is that to keep everything....in after DTD?? Also interested to learn about ferning/microscopes, wow.

I've completed my first month 'dry run' on the monitor, got peak on day 15/16 and AF started today. The monitor tells me not to test until day 8 (was day 6 last month) so obviously learning that I ov a bit later than average. This month starts in earnest! Grin

Warrior - I am also coming off Cerazette, finished mid March. Heard horror stories about cycles being skewed for months but I have been relatively lucky. First cycle 25 days, 2nd 27, so definitely getting back to 'normal'. Hang in there!

Chandlers - I am also on your timezone(ish) but in Singapore.

TheGrandHighWitch · 29/05/2014 14:26

Hi everyone, I hadn't thought about using my mooncup and yes lullaby23 it should keep everything in the area it's supposed to be lol. I am happy to answer questions re the microscope as I have used it this time and last time I TTC with my second child Smile.

A low reading for me today as expected. Temp still high so far so just hoping it stays that way. I won't bother testing on the monitor or with the microscope now but will carry on temping as that should help let me know what to expect either way.

hedwiggity · 29/05/2014 18:16

Another high reading for me today Grin and a lot of cmBlush its important with any stick you don't turn it upside down its has to be kept flat otherwise it floods itself and doesn't workConfused
