A thread for anyone TTC with a ClearBlue Fertility Monitor!

Morning ladies!! I was hunting around for a recent thread for anyone TTC with a CBFM but couldn't find any - please let me know if one is ongoing that I didn't find!! But otherwise I wanted a place to share experiences with other ladies using this rather interesting gadget. It makes big claims for success!!

About me - I'm TTC baby #1, cycle #3, expecting AF or BFP on 2-12 June.

I'm still having slightly long cycles after stopping the pill - this is my first cycle using the monitor properly, because my last cycle went on for 40 days, and the machine got bored and stopped asking for sticks after 25 days!!

I'm currently on CD09 and had my first day of a high reading today, although I know the machine gives out high readings like they're going out of fashion so not reading much into that! Will be kicking off the SMEP (sperm meets egg plan!) from today though anyway just to be sure.

Would love to hear from you!! Smile

I have the monitor like the one in the photo, purchased either 2009 or a couple years after.

Does anyone know where I can get the test sticks from please? Only the advanced monitor ones seem to appear when I search....

Hi, I started using this immediately after coming off the pill as i had read so many stories/ spoken to friends about taking ages to conceive. I was lucky in that my period went back to very regular within 4 weeks of stopping contraceptives so this made it simpler. I spent 2/3 months using it to learn when my fertile days were and missing the BD opportunity for one reason or another and then got BFP in month 4 when i finally put it into practice!

One thing i would say that is really important is to pay attention to the instructions about how long you pee on the stick, for the first 2 months i did this for too long a time and so just got high fertility days for about 6-8 days without getting the peak. Sooo frustrating when it dropped back down to low. i actually read that advice on a thread similar to this and that is what stopped me from throwing the thing away! So thought i should pass this on. Now im happily 12 weeks pregnant and waiting finger cross for a positive outcome this week when we go for first scan. (anyone else find it weird that up until them we have had no professional confirmation only diy kits)??

Good luck to you all

Mine is doing the exact same thing CBDS are working better for me 😞

Report
Hellsbells23 · 09/05/2016 08:15

I've been using the CBFM for 3months now and for the past 2months it has only picked up "HIGH" and waiting for a LH serge.

I'm really confused as the CBDS picked up that I was ovulating with a smiley face. (Day 15)

My cycles are a mixture of 34, 32 and 30 days in length.

I feel like I should give up with the CBFM and stick with the CMDS for testing as the faint lines on my tests say differently to what the monitor is. (Purple & white sticks shown are CMFM purple and purple sticks are CMDS)

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please I feel like I'm going fertility crazy.

Hello! I'm having my 9th day of high fertility (flashing face) but the basic tests said I hit peak 5days ago and my body signs agreed. Wondering why clearblue test didn't detect a peak phase

Hi ladies hoping someone can help on acbfm. I'm now 3 days away from AF but the test still isn't asking for tests for pregnancy? Do just add a test? Or do I have to wait for it to tell me?

Hi ladies,
May I join in and share my jorney.

I'm 32 from England.
We have been TTC for 2 and a half years.
I've used the single CB sticks.
(The ones with the smiley face )
I've been taking Folic acid tablets, Evening Primrose, Rasberry Leaf. Nuan Gon Yun Zi Wan.
And I take my temperture.

I am now on my 4th month using the advanced Cbfm

I've had highs and peaks for 3 months pervious . Currently on day 16. Only had highs so far no peaks.

My partner has low sperm count.
I've had the 21 day test and that's all fine. More tests to follow.

:( feeling deflated.
Will we ever become parents.
Any one got any suggestions I/ we could try before the IVF route?
Thank you

Hi everyone,
Congratulations on your BFP Lullaby, that is a great story! I have decided not to use by CBFM this cycle as it was driving me crazy only getting Highs/Lows even though I confirmed ov by temping. I am on CD11 now and DH and I have agreed to DTD EoD until I confirm ov through temping.
Good luck everyone! FX you get your BFP this weekend Mel!

Wow congratulations that's amazing! It makes me wonder and even though I've spent all that money on the monitor I still buy several other tests to back it up! Sometimes they correlate and sometimes not! Day 9 is early, like you I try Dtd starting day 7 just in case!

Hi ladies I posted further up thread and thought I would update you. Well I got my BFP but ironically not whilst using the CBFM! No luck in June and in July because DH & I were both travelling decided not to bother with monitor as too complicated with time difference, being away etc.

About 3 days before AF due I was dicking about in the evening and thought I would do a preg test. Obviously it wouldn't accept it outside the testing hours. So next morning I shoved the used test in despite the fact it had been out all night and it came up positive convinced that some kind of witchery had possessed the testing stick I ignored it and did another one next morning, positive again.

Then convinced my machine must be wrong I went and bought a digital test at lunch, hey presto another positive.

The reason I was so reluctant to believe it was we only DTD on CD9 whereas the CBFM was telling me for May/June ov/peak was around CD16/17 so couldn't understand why I could defy science like that!

Sorry for the essay but thought it was an amusing story.

Hang in there ladies and good luck this month x

Hi ladies I'm back. Af due sat and did get peak this month!

Report
WallFlower11 · 05/08/2014 22:31

Well, this month (my first time using it) it dis give me a peak at cycle day 16, but went straight from low-peak :| It is reassurring that by buying the CBFM we are a little bit more in control of our TTC journey. I have read many great reviews about this monitor, but maybe for people who have no other underlying infertility issues, eg, ovulating etc. The fact that you can fall pregnant is a reassurance and I hope we both get our BFP soon!! All the best :) xx

Hello ladies! Hope everyone is great. Well, bought the CBFM this month and mine went from low-peak :( i had a low peak at cycle day 15 and Eggy symbol on 16th. We DTD cycle day 13, 14, and 15, but think I missed the boat. We have been ttc for 13 months now (was using opk's and getting a surge every month, but no BFP. ) i am starting to spot again, so another month out. It is hard to stay positive when you are doing everything possible to achieve a pregnancy- an then no cigar.
Wishing you all success with the TTC journey xxx

Hi all,
This is a really helpful thread as I've just started using the monitor. Quick background - I'm TTC my first after we suffered from a TFMR (bad diagnosis at the 20 week scan). It's been 3 months since and I'm feeling unnerved at how unpredictable this whole thing can be. I just deeply want to get pregnant again...

Just started TTC last cycle and feeling daunted by how overwhelming this all feels. Has using the monitor been helpful for you all?

Any moral support really appreciated...

Sorry to hear AF arrived Cazzacol.
So I phoned the advice line today after having one cycle of highs and another of lows but confirming ovulation by temping. The lady was fairly helpful, she said that I must have a short surge so the monitor didn't pick it up...they are sending me a box of sticks for next cycle and said that if I get another cycle of no peak to call again and I can send them my monitor to look at. I gave her the code on my monitor and even though I bought it brand new on Amazon it is apparently from 2009 so has been sat in a warehouse for a long time!
I think it is different for everyone Glejza, some people go straight from low to peak or don't even get a peak like me! Great that you have confirmed ovulation time!

Hi, I've been following this topic for a while and noticed that some of you are on high for ages and sometimes don't even get the peak. I was on low for ages, on day 16 suddenly got high and today on day 17 got peak?! I thought that I would have to be on high for at least few days. One way or another it seems like my ovulation takes place on totally different days than I have always thought. May be what i have not got pregnant for nearly 2 year Confused

Yes it's annoying. How can your body be so rubbish? You spend 15 years trying not to get pregnant and then the next 10 obsessing about the opposite!

Oh well I just wish I knew what was going on.
