Btw notta I think cd7 is about right to start poas if you have a short cycle! Good luck

Starbright24 · 23/03/2014 11:49

I took my temperature this morning to find it had gone up as expected with post ov and my opk on friday so proceeded to sulk and be upset with dp who had failed to want to dtd since weds.
After much tears and me saying I was going to go to the doctors for help (been ttc for a year) he asked me why I actually wanted a baby.
I was a bit speechless. How do you put that every part of you is crying out for one just by instinct?
I explained that I had loved holding my little nephews when they were born and had thought about having a baby everyday for at least the last five years - possibly should not have admitted that.
His reply was that he wants a new campervan but he does not think about it everyday and that I should stop it and also stop coming here! ( as if!)
So...campervan/baby...is there any comparrison!!?????
Anyway..we dtd after more tears and he is trying to understand (even if he did say he was not a tap and I could not just switch him on)
I'm hoping I have a slow travelling egg or some swimmers from wednesday who were patiently waiting if I ov on friday.
2ww starting. Fx.
Give all your dh's a hug and a kiss as we are from different planets and don't always understand each other but they do try.

Starbright24 · 23/03/2014 11:50

Wow. That was longer than expected.

lindamagoo · 23/03/2014 12:04

Aw star big hugs to you huni, it's not easy trying to explain the feeling of wanting a baby so much, I hope you are ok x

victoria401 · 23/03/2014 12:04

Sorry to hear about your oh star, my dh has his moments too. It was my idea to start ttc, told him its what we needed and stopped contraception! He says he is scared about it but so am I! But we need this big adventure/challenge in our relationship as its just stale and predictable. He doesnt understand my biological craving and my upsets each month when af comes. I just think its how a lot of blokes are. You do get some that are just as desperate for babies as their partner butyou and Ididn't choose one of those unfortunately! I'm sure once baby comes they'll be doting dads and wondered why they ever weren't sure about it!

spinningirl10 · 23/03/2014 13:24

Ah Star, its tough ttc sometimes. I think men just feel it will happen in time when we want it to happen right now Thanks

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/03/2014 13:33

Oh star sorry to hear your OH is being a bit dim. I don't think men really get it do they? Its so hard when we can't really know exactly when to dtd. I think the swimmers can hang around for 3 days or so, so you are still in with a chance.

My DH was the one who suggested ttc. We had always planned it at some point, but I am soooo practically minded that i was worrying constantly about jobs, money, buying a house first, getting married first that i didn't really allow myself to think about it. Dh suggested it and i was like 'oh, ok then' for about 5 seconds before the crazy floodgates opened!

Really regretting putting it off now i am 36 and on C11.......

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/03/2014 13:34

And no, campervan doesn't compare in anyway whatsoever.

victoria401 · 23/03/2014 14:20

Notta I'm also regretting leaving it so long. Did the marriage, house buying and subsequent 2+ years rennovation, money, job thing. I'm 34 in a few weeks, married 4 1/2 years before ttc. Feel old and creaky! Lol

Starbright24 · 23/03/2014 14:21

Sorry for the moan.
You're all ace.
I'm ok and will be till it all starts again next month lol.

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/03/2014 15:46

Don't apologise star!! If you can't have a moan here where can you?

I was really low during AF, but have perked up massively now that shes fecked off.

victoria we've not been married a year yet, but have been together 12 years! Bought the house 4 years ago. Just getting impatient now. Can believe i'm on cycle 11.

ItsChristmaass · 23/03/2014 18:29

spinningirl10 · 23/03/2014 19:38

Oh Christmas, sorry to see you here....wishing you lots of luck for this cycle Thanks

Linda....wow well done you, that's a lot of dtd, fx Grin

lindamagoo · 23/03/2014 19:51

Lol spinning we've probably done it more this month than in the last 6 months Grin

kurama · 23/03/2014 20:05

campervan v baby..... even my dh says baby wins hands down! i havnt tried the spinning after dtd yet.... would feel very stupid and most likely get told i look stupid..... fx linda and everyone else nearing or on the tww!

Viperama · 23/03/2014 20:13

It took my DP and I 1 year of couples counselling to get to a place where we were both ready to TTC. I couldn't do this without his full support and to do that he needs to be as keen as I am.
It's a big step, some just take a bit more time to get their heads round the idea. If you can afford it and you're having trouble relating on this I would highly recommend couples counselling, lots of people see it as something you do when you're in trouble, but it should be something to keep you strong, for me it makes sense to invest in what is one of the most important things in my life, my partner. We both feel it's the best money we've ever spent.

So I'm on cd 5 and will start ov POAS on cd9, and start DTD cd9 and every other day.
One of my best mates did it twice a day from cd9 to 16, I think this is a waste of energy. What do you ladies think?

spinningirl10 · 23/03/2014 20:33

Viper, I think every other day is good! Grin

Linda, I get frustrated that dp's work pattern seems to always be wrong at ov time, we managed 3 times around the fertile time which is good for us so fx! I'm so impatient already and only just in the 2ww Grin

lindamagoo · 23/03/2014 20:51

All it takes is that 1 little swimmer to reach it's goal spinning so fx it makes it Smile I'm so impatient also, think it will be a long 2 weeks Hmm

Metalhead · 23/03/2014 21:35

TWICE a day Viper?!? Jeez... we struggle with every other day! For what it's worth, when I got my BFP in December we did it exactly once that whole month, on the day I got a positive opk.

I started doing opks today at CD7, just in case I get a really short cycle post mc. Though most likely I'll just have to keep testing for a couple of weeks now and will drive myself crazy! Fx for all those who are already in the 2ww.

Treaclepie19 · 23/03/2014 22:39

I'm struggling on decidibg whether to go full on control - continue opk, start temping and read taking charge of your fertility -, stay the same as we are, or. Just track cm and relax.
Cant decide!

Fingers crossed to everyone already in the 2ww :)

Zermatt · 24/03/2014 04:32

I'm giving up the booze this month and also caffiene, apart from 2 cups of green tea a day, also going to get some maca powder or tablets.

How many times a cycle are you ladies generally dtd? I was doing about 6 days in a row in few days before I get my + opk and then 1 or 2 after, but might try the smep this month. Worried I am not starting early enough at it in the cycle or finishing trying too early as well.

Zermatt · 24/03/2014 04:40

Treacle, I did temping for 2 cycles and opks, but this cycle I am just using the opks as temping was starting to stress me out a bit, mainly because it meant before I even woke up properly I was already thinking about TTC.

Both 2 cycles I tracked the BBT showed that I ov'd on CD15 which also ties in with the positive OPK's I had on CD13...

If you are curious to see when you actually ov'd following the +opk then it might be worth doing for one month as its the only way I think to see whether ov actually happened and when.
