Over here...

Welcome bears! You're certainly in good company here, and not the only one going through secondary infertility (I think that's the correct term). Good luck with this round, I hope it's the one which works for you.

PS Quite excited we've got a stalker Wink

Bearsandhoney · 16/03/2014 21:08

Thanks for the welcome no beer!

I read back and see that you are about to do a FET so best of luck with that. May i ask how many rounds have you had? We are also going to have all emryo's tested as producing 'good looking' blastosist's has not been our problem (of the two fresh goes we've had, we managed to get 5 on the first go then 6 on the second). The problem is then that none of the 5 good quality blastosist's transferred over the 3 ET have stuck so we now will have the chromosome testing to see if there are problems with them. I'm an 'old' duck too :-(

I also wonder about immune issues but the clinic we are with doesn't really offer the treatment needed (nor tests) that others do (although they are very good). I would have thought that I wouldn't have been able to get pregnant with DS if we/I had immune issues? It's all so confusing isn't it. I have just ordered the de beers book to see if it sheds any light.

nobeer · 16/03/2014 21:17

This will be my second cycle bears. I only asked about immunology tests because I just felt that something wasn't right, I can't explain it. I'd read about it on here and something just clicked. I know lots of women wait until they've had many failed cycles before getting tests done.

Bearsandhoney · 16/03/2014 21:23

Off to do my nightly stabbing ... Not a phrase I ever thought I would type!

BrookerC · 16/03/2014 22:31

Looks like there will be a few on here cycling in the next couple of weeks cups nobeer res val are you starting again soon?
wish hope you're feeling brighter today.
Thinking of you beetle. Any news lovely?
maryp glad you're keeping busy. How are you feeling? I've been baking too - lovely little lemon drizzle cupcakes today. Yum,yum.
Welcome bears. They're a great bunch on here & always on hand no matter what you're going through. I don't know what I'd do without them Sorry to hear you're struggling for that bfp. Can I ask how old you are and what protocol you're on? I'm Envy at the number of blasts you're getting.

Afm, I'm starting to think about our next (and possible last) cycle. My clinic, whilst being really good, don't seem keen on the immunology testing/treatment either. We will discuss it with them at our review in a few weeks' but I've started looking at Care as an alternative. Anyone any experience?

Bearsandhoney · 16/03/2014 23:15

Hi Brooker. I'm 39, though turning 40 in a few weeks. Sigh. Turning 40 whilst undergoing infertility treatment isn't conducive to cracking open the bubbles is it... My first treatment was long protocol and the following two have been short protocols. I am currently on day 5 of stims and only had to start DR 7 days ago (I was grateful to have to DR for a shorter time as i do find it emotionally challenging to be undergo).

DH says this will be our last fresh cycle which does add to the pressure/emotions of the process. I also feel we can't go on forever without a whiff of a BFP, but can't quite get my head around giving up either. I guess I am just hoping that this time with the PGD we will get lucky.

When do you think you will cycle next? Can i ask how many times you have tried? I've no experience of Care (not sure where it is actually). I do think a 2nd opinion is a good idea (not that we have done that yet, but if this round doesn't work I will have to use my powers of persuasion to get DH on board to try a clinic that specialises in immunes to see if they can shed any light).

Sorry for the long posts. I feel I've taken over!

BrookerC · 16/03/2014 23:44

bears I'm 40, 41 in a couple of months' Sad. My first cycle (SP) was just before by 40th. I didn't much feel like celebrating after having a bfn. I don't feel this old though

Bearsandhoney · 17/03/2014 07:21

Back in for a scan this morning. Fingers crossed that all the protein I am consuming is making the folli's grow! A daily breakfast of eggs on toast is fast losing its appeal... I feel a little differently about turning 40. This IVF and my body not doing what it was able to do 4/5 years ago has made me feel old.

It seems we are in a similar position with the recurring BFN. The embryo screening is expensive at a couple of thousand (eek!) and we decided to do it with a fresh lot (we do have 5 blastosist's on ice) as it is so expensive we felt that we should have as many to screen as possible (they will haw out the frozen ones and do them all together). Given that they put back the best 1 or 2 each time we are down to our 'poorer' embies. I don't know what will be worse: if a good number 'pass' or the other way round. If they do pass then that means we have implantation issue that have not been ruled out with hystroscopy and other exploratory scans. Nic they are all 'failed' then that will be the end of the road for us. It's really a mind f*.

A very good friend of mine had her OTD on her 40th. I really felt her for her (it was unfortunately a BFN). The 2ww is hard but not as hard as seeing that single little line persistently show up. Is it too much to ask to see 2 lines?

Hope everyone has a good day. I could do with another day at home...

WannabeMaryPoppins · 17/03/2014 07:24

Hello Bear and welcome. I too am desperately trying to make sure that DS doesn't stay an only child. I got pregnant on our first ICSI in 2011 ducks to avoid the plates being thrown by the other egg buddies and had 4 frosties left over from. I stupidly believed that if it happened so easily the first time round that history would repeat itself. Ignorance is bliss is all I can say. I am now on my 2nd fresh ICSI cycle and am currently 6dp5dt and trying to Keep it together. Good luck with the stabbing and stimming.

Morning everyone else. Well the menkulling has kicked in and is doing my head in. I go from being quietly confident to thinking it was all over when I walked out after the transfer on Wednesday - it was so horrendous that I really couldn't talk about it last week as I was concentrating so hard on getting my head in a better place.
I Keep telling myself that it really is early days and when I got pregnant with DS I didn't think it had worked as I didn't have any symptoms either. Think am going to write down a list of all the reasons why it should work this time so that I can remind myself when I'm having a wobble. Am also getting the start of a cold which doesn't bode well. Why does it bloody take 2 weeks! I think they should develop a test so that they can tell you after 5 days. I think I'll suggest it next time I'm at the clinic Smile.

WannabeMaryPoppins · 17/03/2014 07:26

Cross posting Bear. Good luck with the scan this morning. Let us know how you get on.

Bearsandhoney · 17/03/2014 07:47

Hi Maryp. I really sympathise with the menkulling. Swinging between positivity and negativity makes for a roller coaster ride I'd rather get off (with a BFP of course!). I hope you are able to get on with your day
without too much head f*ery. Easier said than done ;-)

Better get on.... Got eggs to cook

resipsa · 17/03/2014 08:10

Yeah, Brooker - still here (just!). At 210% of target for March at work currently which in part explains the absence. Got my lining scan at 8.15!

OP posts:
BrookerC · 17/03/2014 08:27

Ooh good luck res.

resipsa · 17/03/2014 08:51

Hmm, now slightly freaked as been prescribed baby aspirin and a steroid, Dexamethasone, to try to improve lining which is at 6mm on Day 12.

I've not been DRegd for this FET. As I would usually ovulate on about Day 18, isn't it a bit early for a panic? Surely it will thicken of its own accord nearer to Day 18? Oh gawd.

Turquoisetamborine · 17/03/2014 10:50

Welcome Bear, we are all well supported on this thread so hope it's some help for you.

I'm booked for EC on Wed. Just had my final scan and taking the HCG tonight. Back in the pharmacy again waiting for my pessaries. The doctor could see 3 mature follicles and several smaller ones so that seems as good as I'm going to get with one ovary. Does that make me a poor responder? Think they should have had me on a higher dose from the off. Will know for next time she says optimistically!

Anyone know of success from only three mature follicles?

Turquoisetamborine · 17/03/2014 10:53

Res hope your lining thickens quickly. Sounds like they are worrying too much.

Mary yes that test would be useful! Two weeks is too long!!

My OTD if I get that far will be the day before my dad's wedding which I am bridesmaid for. That could work out very well or very badly!

WannabeMaryPoppins · 17/03/2014 11:37

Turq I had 4 eggs. 4 fertilised &2 made it to day 5& were put back. You'll have to wait with me though to find out if it worked. Just remember though it only takes one (which is top off my positive thinking listGrin )

Turquoisetamborine · 17/03/2014 13:42

I hope it does work for you mary. I know it's quality over quantity but I feel it's over already. How many follies did you have to get 4 eggs?

WannabeMaryPoppins · 17/03/2014 14:36

I think I had 5

resipsa · 17/03/2014 16:40

Trying to catch up here...

Wish - bad news, I'm sorry. Hope you are OK today. Any plans or is it too soon?

OP posts:
nobeer · 17/03/2014 17:45

Res I would have thought so, I reckon they're being over cautious. But what do I know!
I had another scan, my lining is 4mm (no idea if this is good or bad) and follicle has grown since Friday. She reckons this cycle is going to be short and has told me to get some OPK in!! I'm sure I got some 2 or 3 years ago but never used them, will have a look and fingers crossed they don't have an expiry date. Next scan on Wednesday. So, from being patient since my BFN in August it suddenly seems to be moving very quickly!

nobeer · 17/03/2014 17:48

Bollocks! They expired in January Angry I'll pop to the chemist tomorrow then.

Bearsandhoney · 17/03/2014 19:18

Repisea: it does seem early to be concerned about your lining, but reassuring that they are taking action anyway. My lining is usually on the thin side (we had to cancel a natural FET just before Chistmas because my lining just wouldn't play ball). I've tried to find out if there is anything you can do to 'help' it but I've only found light exercise is recommended to get the blood flowing around the hips/pelvis (walking for 30 mins a day, that sort of thing). Not sure if that helps but Good luck with it thickening.

I had a scan today, there are 4 foli's (2 either side) with other smaller ones that might catch up. EC is possibly Sunday or Monday. Lining was good (for me) at 6.4. I have to go everyday, alternating bloods with scans and bloods. I feel I live there... Blush thi

Bearsandhoney · 17/03/2014 19:23

So are you PUPO with 2 embies Maryp? That's so exciting! A friend has just had twins (naturally ... Sigh), and I wonder what I would do if (god willing) I conceived twins. It does look exhausting and not sure i would cope well but would be thrilled to pieces at the same time. How are you holding up with the not testing and symptom spotting?

Bearsandhoney · 17/03/2014 19:25

Sorry for the cluster posting: no beer, why do they want you to use the OPK when they are scanning you? I am confused...
