Anyone seeing Dr. Shehata miscarriage clinic in Epsom? I started there in August last year and was found to have raised thyroid antibody count so am on 25mg of thyroxine since September. Had another miscarriage on the 24th Dec at 6 weeks so that's my 8th. Now they said killer cells may become elevated once pregnant although blood test when I'm not pregnant is negative so now I'm on 25mg of predinisolone.
I'm already on 75mg of aspirin and taking Vit D and folic acid and to top it all off I'm 45years old! I am however lucky to have one gorgeous son already so perhaps I should just count my blessings?!
Just wanted to know if anyone else on predinisolone?

I was recommended him by 2 people. He appears to be one of the top guys in the country.
I am going to see him in 2 weeks time. I've had loads of blood tests and a couple of scans and have been told I have a raised TSH, 13.0 should be under 2! Seems to be the only problem...so far! Although I am 40 also so that's not helping.
Had a mc before Christmas then fell pregnant again beginning of February and begged GP to put me on levothyroxine. She did very reluctantly. I mc last week. i'm only on 25mcg of it though and am sure i should be on about 75mcg.
Hoping he sorts that out. Just a bit worried about the cost of the NK test...believe it's about £800. Don't think we can afford it!

So sorry to hear of your loss. I was referred by my GP on the NHS so everything so far at the clinic has been free. I have to go back in May - hopefully I'll be preganNt again before then. The docs I've seen have been fantastic there and I always come away hopeful even though the chance of miscarriage at my age is more likely regardless of any other issues with my health. You should be able to get your GP to refer you under the NHS.

BTW, I was 43 when I had him. Don't loose hope.

I don't know if it's changed since the GPS have been put in control of their own PCT budgets but it used to be possible to get referred to Mr Shehata on the NHS at Epsom & St Helier. Mind you, obviously private is much quicker so if time is of the essence then I'd recommend just going for it privately if you can find the money.

Angelbabe- sorry to hear ablut your loss.
My FC put me on thyroxine (and my tsh was only 3.7) to get me below 2.5.
I think you need to review your level to make sure it is stable before ttc.
(It took 25 (1 tablet alternate days to get me below that))
I think they like to build up gradually.
But ince you know you are pg you need to increase the dose (i presume by having another blood test.)
I havent got that far yet as on 2ww from icsi.
Wondering how to make gps do a blood test for tsh as they probably wont listen i may need to go back to my FC.
As far as i know my antibodies werent tested... So they could say i need to pay for prescriptions still as its not an immune illness

I opened this thread to point you in the direction of the long running "pred thread", but I see I have been beaten to it. Many posters there are seeing Mr S and are on prednisolone or similar treatments.

Thanks jvcrowther. I saw him on the NHS initially and started off with the 250ug Vit D2, Omega 3, Asprin and Pregnacare and then 25mg Pred from ovulation. It took me a while to get pregnant after starting the treatment so I ended up being tested again and my levels had gone up so I was then on 40mg Pred. I saw him privately in the end because I needed to have more tests as my fertility seemed to have dropped right off so had his Super Ovulation treatment privately as they don't give fertility treatment for people my age on the NHS. When I got pregnant I hadn't taken Pred from ovulation as I'd been on it for 18 months as it was making me feel like hell taking it every month on spec, so I was taking Hydroxycholorquinine instead which is another immune regulator. I took the 40mg Pred from my positive test. I think I started weaning off from 9 weeks. I also had intralipid infusions every 4 weeks. I can't remember for how long. 16 weeks I think - again, that's only available privately and recommended only for the very high NK Cells, I think.

Thanks HavingKits - useful information. My NK cells test is negative but they think they may become elevated once preganant but they cant be sure. I'm taking pred 25mg but I'm sleeping less and thinking of taking it at night - but not sure if that's okay. Will speak to doc.
