Hi all. As promised, a sparkling new thread that is going to see a lot of action in the next few weeks, I hope!

OP posts:

Moggle. Woohoo. Amazing number of eggs Smile feet up now lovely.

Beetle, exciting...you have a fucker free day tomorrow. Woop woop! Enjoy and good luck for EC. Having had the embryoscope and a daily update every day (which weren't great!) I can totally understand knowing the bare minimum. My cycles always go well up to EC and then dramatically change direction so knowing numbers if follies and eggs collected doesn't mean a thing to me now. Good luck for your special one or two on transfer day Smile

Wanna, yes...love the song choice (I'm getting on a bit too Wink) 'The only way is up, yes baby GrinWinkGrinWink)

starsandmoonandback · 24/02/2014 13:49

Cups. Hugs. Why is it made all the more hard for us eh?

B4byPlease · 24/02/2014 14:41

Aww, amazing Moggle! You should be so pleased. Lots of baby dust to you now for a nice fertilisation number.

The reason I asked about BFP on first IVF, is coz it's becoming so real now and I really want to believe it's going to work first time for me, (being only 27) but something in the back of my mind just makes me think I'm going to have to go through it all again, and I'm dreading it!

Congrats to all the ladies who it worked 1st time for though, there seems to be way more than I thought there would be. There is no reason so far why it shouldn't work first time, but I just can't believe it would happen to me.

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 15:15

Wow Moggle - 19 eggs is amazing! Well done and rest up.
Hello to everybody else x

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 15:17

...and B4by - you'll have better odds than most for first time success because you are so young!

Hi Bugs Smile

Beetle, hun. It sounds really hard. Do whatever feels right. And if that's nothing, then do that!

Moggle, no reason why it won't work first time for you hun. Try and believe Smile

starsandmoonandback · 24/02/2014 16:23

Oops forgot to say hi Bad Smile

moggle · 24/02/2014 16:30

stars thanks! although it was B4by who is wondering about the stats. I am allowing myself a day of being convinced it is going to work first time for us... being a statistician I am rather prone to getting a bit obsessed with number crunching and do have to restrain myself a bit.

We are watching Philadelphia at the mo because I wanted to watch something that would under no circumstances make me laugh, due to the soreness from EC... We were getting through the IT Crowd at a decent pace during injections but that is definitely a no go this afternoon. Tom Hanks dying is definitely more suitable...

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 16:38

Sorry if my comment sounded insensitive Beetle, or anybody else. I should, of course, have qualified the comment with a statement like 'it depends on what your fertility issues are'. Sorry you are feeling so fed up, Beetle, and feel free to rant away on here to us.

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 16:56

On a totally separate note, has anybody had problems disposing of their used sharps and sharps boxes? We are having a total mare here in Hackney. The hospital won't take them back, neither will my doctor's surgery nor pharmacy. We keep being told that Hackney Council will collect them, but this has been the most unreliable saga. They apparently turned up today, but claimed we hadn't left them out for collection. They won't collect in person and say you have to leave them out with the rubbish, then ignore them and leave the bright yellow boxes where they are!!

Turquoisetamborine · 24/02/2014 17:13

Bad I was told to bring them back to the hospital with me. Beetle I know how you feel. I'm totally not a hoarder but I've kept all of DS's gorgeous clothes and I won't get rid. What if I had a girl??

Baseline scan for me tomorrow. Still feeling fine on the buserelin but that makes me think it's not working!

starsandmoonandback · 24/02/2014 17:21

Moggle. It's official....I've lost the plot. I know you've just got 18 eggs collected today. Doh! Sorry. But, hey believe in 1st time...why not. I like to think of stats in this case as pointless. You'll either be in the successful group or you won't!! Hoping you are Smile

I have a garage full of clothes, toys, baby equipment etc from DS. I can't face ever having to get rid of it. I've saved it in case I have another baby...and it's a boy....but now my journey is almost over, I'm not sure i'll ever want to get rid of a lot of it Hmm my friend's sister does make some lovely bears and cushions etc out of favourite or sentimental baby grows which I think is a really lovely idea and might do.... Blush

starsandmoonandback · 24/02/2014 17:21

Bad, I've actually chucked mind in the rubbish before now Blush

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 24/02/2014 17:26

Beetle I forgot to say yay to trigger and a little fucker free day tomorrow. (((Hugs))) over the pregnancy reminders. Rant away, it was totally shit and unfair what happened to your babies. As for what to do with them, do whatever you feel comfortable doing. I have still got my pregnancy tests, blood results and picture at ET of my embies. I personally want to keep them (I can't explain why). I was feeling shit when I got back from my pre op as I had to get my bloods done at the same place I went to for my beta tests to confirm miscarriage. As soon as I got home I got the box out with all of it in, it made me feel better somehow. I guess I feel that I'm the only one that remembers what happened and having those things are "proof". I hope that all doesn't make me sound too crazy!

Bugs good to see you. I hope your hanging in ok x

Turq good luck for your scan tomorrow Smile

Mog your brave watching Philadelphia, I always cry buckets at that film Confused

Bad my clinic took mine back as well. Can you take it with you to your scan and refuse to take it home?! Grin

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 24/02/2014 17:28

Stars I don't blame you for not wanting to get rid of any of it. Making a keepsake out of some of it sounds like a lovely idea x

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 17:48

You know what, ladies, I think I might just take it with me back to the hospital. They told me they wouldn't take it, but surely they are the best people to dispose of it all. Sigh - I could leave the boxes in one of those 'clinical waste' bins they seem to have everywhere. Hmmmmm.

And good luck Beetle for the injection free day and the trigger. I found the ovitrelle pen a dream to use compared with all the faffing about with vials and syringes for the Menopur and Buserelin.

Are you at work tomorrow Moggle? I had the day off but was looking after my 2 year old DS and found it tough. I was running round all day and going down the slide, even though my poor fanjo felt all bashed about. Try to plan an easy day tomorrow if you can xxx

moggle · 24/02/2014 18:27

bad - thanks for the advice, I will def take it easy - I told my manager I'd hopefully be back on Wednesday. My lovely cat has been snoozing on my belly so probably more of that tomorrow and maybe a gentle walk to the shops in the afternoon.

beetle good luck with the trigger & enjoy the day off jabs!

Urgh... Counting down to bum bullet time, any advice for this stage?!!

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 19:17

Just get ready to fart a lot if you go up the bum, or to leak a bit if you go up the fanjo!! I have gone for the up the bum option but I was massively bloated after transfer, so my clinic recommended I swapped to up the fanjo. They're fine though, really. A lot better than having to inject yourself!

You will hopefully feel fine by Weds. You can take paracetamol if you are in pain tomorrow which should sort it out.

I've just had an argument with my DP about putting the bloody sharps in the bin. I personally think it's much worse that we are just instructed to leave the boxes beside the bins, where somebody could grab them, then they don't even bother to pick them up! When my partner phoned the council they denied all knowledge and had no idea what he was talking about. Deep sigh. I get really frustrated dealing with stuff like this. Am ridiculously impatient!

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 19:26

I went back to the bum option after getting fed up of the leakage. I am used to them now too! Is it 14 weeks you have to take them if you are pregnant? Yikes!

Bunnygirlie · 24/02/2014 21:13

b4by my first ivf in january resulted in a BFP, 9 weeks this week. 3 weeks-ish till scan and keeping everything crossed there is still something in there. I only had 5 eggs. Good luck!

As for bum bullets, I only had to use them till my BFP, not used them since.

Hi everyone and good luck whatever stage you are at Smile

Badhairday76 · 24/02/2014 22:01

That's great, Bunny! 9 weeks is fab. Have you had a scan already?

How come you managed to avoid the arse bullets, btw?!

wishwash · 24/02/2014 22:06

B4by its really hard to tell if it'll work for first time or not. I'm 27 (28 in April) and it didn't work first time me. I also know a girl that it worked first time for and she's 28, then a girl that's 27 who had a failed first cycle but is now 6 months preggers from her second cycle. We're all around the same age with completely different outcomes so you just have to stay strong and believe it's going to happen for you......

this may sound insensitive but you really so also need to understand that there's also a chance it won't. I went into my first cycle certain it would work, there was no reason why it wouldn't! When I got the BFN it destroyed me so please just try and stay positive with a bit of self preservation.

Sorry if any of you feel this post is insensitive but its important to stay level headed in this game xxx
