cups I'm really sorry to hear your news Sad And I hope with all my might that your tests are all ok. We will all still be here if you ever want to come back to talk/vent etc.

Congrats on being pupo geek! Hope that embie is bedding in and getting comfy! Smile

BeedlesPineNeedles · 28/01/2014 05:33

Still no smiley face this morning, looking at the lines on the cheapy sticks I think I should have got a positive on Sunday pm, but the lines are now getting lighter so I think we might have missed it this month. Though it is only cd9 so I'll keep testing for a couple more days. After

Geek hope your little emby is getting comfy

cups thinking of you and mrcups

keepitgoing · 28/01/2014 08:00

that's still v early needle but I know you have short cycles. if you miss it do you easily move it to next month? brooking for you

congrats on being pupo geek Grin

ControlGeek · 28/01/2014 08:07

Good luck beedle I've got everything crossed (including my legs for once) that you've not missed your surge. Do you temp? Is there any way they could confirm if you have already peaked (scans etc)?

Thanks, everyone, for all the lovely messages xx maybe the bum bullets are now fanny candles, yay!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 28/01/2014 08:56

I think I'll carry on testing for a couple of days and then if nothing changes I'll postpone it to next month, with such short cycles its not too long to wait! I'd rather wait and give our little frosty the best possible chance.

Glad you've got your legs crossed geek

And nice to see you keep give kip a cuddle from me!

musicalmrs · 28/01/2014 12:13

Is it quite easy to postpone it until the next cycle then Beedle?

How are you doing today Geek?

CD29 here, possibly 8DPO, symptom spotting like a good'un..

SantaMaybe · 28/01/2014 12:38

Hope you get a positive soon Beedle, how frustrating.

Ooh, fanny candles Geek, pushing the boat out Wink how you feeling?

We love a symptom spot Musical, share with the group Grin

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 28/01/2014 13:43

Sounds like you are as bad as me musical. Cd 44 here, and fertility friend now agrees that I ovulated on cd40 so am in 2 ww and my god it is dragging!

ControlGeek · 28/01/2014 13:56

maybe and musical ahh you know me, pessimistic as ever, and Dr Google has been feeding my fears I'm afraid. OTOH I've found a lovely clinic in the Czech Republic that do embryo donation cycles for a fraction of the uk cost Hmm

ControlGeek · 28/01/2014 13:58

Dammit, hit post far too soon! Don't know what I was thinking...

I am distracting myself with crafty stuff, and I have a vaaaiiiir special project on the go that I cannot possibly say too much about just now Wink

loopy yay for ff finally agreeing you've ov'd! These long cycles are the ultimate in frustration. Sounds like you might just fall short of my record 56 day-er though!

musicalmrs · 28/01/2014 14:54

Loopy, hurrah for ov-ing!

Geek step away from Dr Google! Craft project sounds lovely Smile I've just embarked on one to keep me busy too - cross stitch which I haven't done in ages. DD has a high temp today so is spending most of the time on the sofa with tv or books.. more sewing time for me!

Maybe my main symptoms are that I've turned into one giant spot, my trousers are feeling tight and I'm full of cold and feeling run down. All of which could be caused by a multitude of things..!

SantaMaybe · 28/01/2014 15:34

Sounds promising musical! Hope DD feels better

Welcome to the 2WW Loopy

Geek you tease Wink a clue perhaps?? I understand you feeling pessimistic. I felt exactly the same. A lovely lady I cycled with had her treatment in the Czech Republic, I wonder if its' the same place?

ControlGeek · 28/01/2014 18:29

All I can say, maybe is that it is a gift for a mutual friend Grin

ControlGeek · 28/01/2014 19:39

Oooh, an exciting 'PS' to my previous post - tomorrow is day 1 of The Great Scientific Trigger Testing Out Experiment Grin Grin Grin

SantaMaybe · 28/01/2014 19:43

Woohoo Geek!!!! I missed out on all that excitement Sad. I can't wait to see what it is!! But I know it will be amazing.

Oh I bloody love your experiments!!!

keepitgoing · 29/01/2014 08:58

I love the experiments too! maybe poas now and see if it's a myth they gp negative again...?

SantaMaybe · 29/01/2014 09:12

Keep I massively considered doing this!

keepitgoing · 29/01/2014 09:17

should have done it after birth too. sorry! geek you should poaic every day through your pregnancy? x

SantaMaybe · 29/01/2014 09:37

Yes Geek that's what you should do!!

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 29/01/2014 09:57

Wondering if I should buy shares in first response et al what with all the testing you are talking about doing lol.

Cd 45 here, 5 dpo, and am sure about that now, as had temp dip 4dpo and today had the temp rise in line with the secondary oestrogen surge, so apart from taking 40 bloody days to ovulate, it seems to be textbook since I did.

Completely unrelated to ttc, has anyone had a house extension done recently? Have found a house I think I would buy if mine sells, but I need to factor in an unknown extension cost...

BeedlesPineNeedles · 29/01/2014 09:59

Do it maybe though I think I read that they show negative because the concentration of Hcg is so high it doesn't register (there was a better scientific explanation!) so if it does show negative you need to dilute the urine with some water.

geek your Czech back-up plan sounds interesting. Strangely embryo donation is not allowed here, you can have donor eggs or donor sperm but not both. Surrogacy is also not allowed. I'm not entirely sure why.

still no smiley face this morning, I'm slightly annoyed that my body is not following the agreed procedure (but I suppose that was to be expected, when is anything straightforward?) Delaying to next month shouldn't be a problem, I just need to give them a call.

DinoSnores · 29/01/2014 12:31

Sorry I have not been around, trying and generally failing to not mental about it all.

Anyway, you got back with some biochemistry chat. What wild living we all do?!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hook_effect explains why in the presence of really high levels of certain hormones, the test can be negative.

The Great Trigger Testing-Out Experiment - Day 1

pic on my profile

Thursday 23rd January - 250micrograms/0.5ml Ovitrelle injected

Test Stick 1 - FRER
A line started to show within a few seconds, and was unmistakeable in a variety of lights by around 3 minutes.

Test Stick 2 - Superdrug
The stick of choice for many. The line was almost impossible to see until around 6-7 minutes. By 12 minutes all dye had finished moving across and a faint line is visible. Light needs to be natural or quite bright, and at the right angle to see it properly.

Test Stick 3 - CBFM ovulation test stick
There are two test lines on a CBFM stick, and no control lines. The line furthest from the sample end tests for estradiol levels (a type of oestrogen). This works by the hook effect, getting lighter when estradiol levels are high, and darker when they are lower. The line nearest the sample end tests for LH, the ovulation hormone, getting dark in the presence of LH.

On this test stick, both lines were barely visible after 10 minutes though they had both darkened slightly by the time the photograph was taken). This indicates low/no LH levels, and high estradiol levels. Not surprising really, as my blood levels were 12,300 units on the day of trigger.

ControlGeek · 29/01/2014 13:12

Sorry loopy no can do - I own them all, you see, and I'm not planning on selling them any time soon!!!

dino thank you - I took so long to post, and sort my pics out, that you've already given the link to the hook effect Grin I'm not surprised you are still mentalling, you will for a while yet, but all will be well - you are a brooker!

beedle really? I was worried that would be the case here too until I started looking into it. Could that prevent someone from going to a country where it is allowed though? Sorry your cycle is messing you around. It's good that the clinic are ok about moving your FET to the next cycle. Are the smiley face sticks provided by the clinic? Can you not go with your own sticks?

BeedlesPineNeedles · 29/01/2014 13:35

Wow geek I'm loving the experiment results :o
I had to buy my own smiley face sticks - I never realised they were so expensive! I think its testing in the morning that is the problem, I'll get some more sticks for next month and try to test am and pm when I think I'm likely to get a positive. I've hardly used teh cheapy ov sticks lately and I realised whilst sat on the bathroom floor this morning that they are out of date by a few months! I don't actually think this is a problem, and even if it was, teh CB sticks are new.
I don't think it being illegal means you can't do it elsewhere, though I did read that it can take a long time to get parental responsibilty for children born to foreign surrogates. Presumably that's not a problem with donor embryoes as no-one would know without carrying out dna tests.
