Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Eeekkk misskgb exciting when you start talking seriously with your fella about it isn't it? Exciting times... I hope this is a lucky thread for us all Wink Envy

mrsb87 · 12/01/2014 17:41

Miss kgb being selective with your coversation pieces with dh is definitely important, my dh freaks out about anything too in depth!

Helen87 · 12/01/2014 18:34

misskgb- that's really exciting isn't it!! definitely like the idea of being selective on what you talk to him about!! I talk to mine about the symptoms but I try not to let him know how much it's taking over my life. He thinks I'm obsessed at the minute so god knows what he'd think if I told him everything haha!!

I'm also feeling much better and positive about the chances of getting an early BFP after Kiki's news. I just hope being on the pill for so long doesn't affect my chances. I know it's not supposed to but I can't help but think cycles being all over the place can't be a good thing. But anyways yes I am feeling positive!!

rambini · 12/01/2014 18:46

I am loving the positivity on this thread! We have a doctors appointment Saturday due to PCoS and family history of early menopause (mum and gran ages 27 and 28). Also I have a wheat intolerance and read somewhere that I should be supplementing it somehow. Anyway, got very excited when my husband said he wanted to go to the Dr to make sure we were doing everything right (he is a worrier!) But I just love the fact he is being so involved and proactive. makes me :-D

rambini · 12/01/2014 18:49

But just to clarify...I am also being selective in what I tell him and how much craziness I let him know about!!!

Ladymillion · 12/01/2014 19:15

I have blatantly told my DP that I am obsessed with it all and he just laughs at me and goes back to his playstation hehehe

Helen87 · 12/01/2014 19:38

Hahaha lady that made me laugh! If you swop the play station for an xbox that sounds like mine!!

Rambini- this might be a very stupid question but how do you know you have PCOS? Lovely that your DH is being so involved!

Can anyone be bothered to get a bit of a stats thing going for the ladies who write on here regularly?! I have to keep racking my brains where you're all up to when you write things! Something like...

Helen87, 26, TTC1, first proper cycle after coming off pill in Oct 13 :) AF/ BFP due (I think) around end of next week

mrsb87 · 12/01/2014 19:54

Ok errrrm right
mrsb87, 24, ttc1 since last month. Hoping too do my first poas around 23rd/24th!

RhiBee29 · 12/01/2014 19:56

Hi Everyone, been lurking for a while. Came off pill after 15yrs in September. Feel like my cycle has finally righted itself...not a fan of AF pain which was non-existent on the pill. After a lot of deliberation (nagging) DH and I are TTC #1, complete control freak, already started folic acid, tracking cycle symptoms and general madness! All hush hush though and just feel I need an outlet for my excitement, nervousness etc. Good luck all!

rambini · 12/01/2014 19:57

Helen87 not a stupid question at all. I found out following an operation in 2008 to remove my appendix (which turned out to be fine it was an 8cm cyst causing the problem!)

Claire 25 TTC #1 Now onto 2nd cycle after AF this week.

RhiBee29 · 12/01/2014 19:58

Ooh I forgot....RhiBee29, 29, TTC #1 cycle 1

Ladymillion · 12/01/2014 20:03

Haha Helen he has just sold his xbox and bought a playstation... His biggest worry in life is now what gun to choose to kill his imaginary enemies on Call of Duty Wink

Ladymillion, 28, TTC #1, Cycle 1, CD42 Envy

KikiThePea · 12/01/2014 20:08

Haha! I love all the comments about the DHs...if only they knew how we discuss them without their knowledge!

Earlier DH came out with 'we've got a lot of reading and research to do'. I could only laugh and inform him that I'd started all that a long time ago so he had some catching up to do - what did he think my obsessive googling was, if not research?!

mrsb87 · 12/01/2014 20:16

Haha yea dh has no idea about any of it he's just happy about the lots of shagging bit. He's going to have a shock when I tell him he's going to hhave to do some research soon!

Helen87 · 12/01/2014 20:29

Hahaha all of the DH comments really made laugh. Be interesting to come across men who were the main obsessors, just can't see it though!!

Thanks for the info on PCOS. I always wonder whether you'd know these kind of things before you started trying or not?!

Kiki- taken any more tests for fun?! Had the 'pregnant' in words yet?!!

Thanks for all the stats everyone!!

RhiBee29 · 12/01/2014 20:31

My DH has started a spreadsheet type thing for finances etc, I know that's important but im too busy researching cycle length and EWCM!

MooMa1d · 12/01/2014 22:10

kiki congrats - great news

rhibee we've had this exact same convo this weekend except its me that does the finances, and the researching and the obsessing lol. OH sat on his arse playing the xbox

mrsb87 · 12/01/2014 22:15

Im rubbish at finances....dh is good at keeping tabs on mortgage council tax etc!

RhiBee29 · 12/01/2014 22:33

I think it's just something he can focus on and control during the ttc process I'm usually the one holding the purse strings, I'm sure he'll get bored with it soon!

Helen87 · 13/01/2014 07:51

Haha the spreadsheets made me laugh. Are you just putting on them like savings etc?!

Never did finish off the vitamin conversation, think Kiki's news distracted us!! Do people think there is much benefit in getting an all round vitamin rather than taking just folic acid then? If so I think I might wait to see if AF turns up over the next week or so and if she does I'll try them for next cycle. They do seem quite expensive though, at holland and barratt they cost about 12 quid for a months worth, which isn't too bad until you think if you start taking them you'll probably commit to taking them until your BFP which could be quite a while off?! (Still positive but slightly realistic!)

KikiThePea · 13/01/2014 09:42

I decided to go with the complete vitamins as I'm prone to low iron levels at times so I've always been advised to take multivitamins - so the only difference with these is the inclusion of the folic acid (my phone kept changing that to frolic acid...), and the lack of vitamin A.

Helen - I used the clearblue digital one this morning so I've finally seen it in words. Haha! Although I can't quite bring myself to trust it all just yet!

KikiThePea · 13/01/2014 09:43

Also, re: vitamins - the sanatogen mum to be ones are around £12 for 90 in Boots so should give you almost 3 months.

mrsb87 · 13/01/2014 10:17

I read somewhere that the pregnacare ones are recommended by midwives and gp's. They have extra vitamins like c and d and a few other bits and pieces.
Although clearly the sanatogen ones work too kiki!

Today I feel sick as a dog. Poas t- 8days.

KikiThePea · 13/01/2014 10:39

Sorry to hear you're feeling sick mrsb
Hopefully it's a good sign though. What cycle day will 8 days time be? I've lost track of everyone again!
