Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

I now feel that I should be on more vitamins!! What's the reason for the extras on top of the bog standard folic acid?

Kiki- exercise plan sounds good. I've been disgusting for these last few days so definitely back on the health kick next week!

Has everyone totally given up drinking or are some of you still having a little bit? I've not drunk since TTC, other than a little over Xmas during AF. DH is adamant that we don't touch a drop but I've read women on the other threads saying they've poured a glass to help with the stress of the TTW!!

Who's next for POAS?! I've still got a week or so at least yet!!

mrsb87 · 11/01/2014 18:57

Still about 2 weeks for me. Hate waiting.

I personally never drank a lot anyway before ttc but had a cheeky ale shandy last night, nom nom! Well imo if you can have 1 glass/week when pg why not while ttc? I guess its all down to preference though. I am going to miss brie and my runny egg and soldiers though Sad

misskgb · 11/01/2014 19:05

I had a quick look at the multi vits in asda but couldn't focus enough to make a decision so left it. Keen to know like Helen what the benefits are

I play netball n will be back soon after the Xmas break. I'm not one for going on runs so trying to walk more to stay fit. Weight wise I'm classed as overweight (not good when ttc) but I'm size 14 n very active its only coz im a short arse the book says too big!!

Funny u ask about wine-I chose the 500 calorie minature bottle (5.5%) instead of the full fat (11%) bottleto have a drink wwith less guilt :-)

Okay, freaking out more than a tiny bit right now (although attempting to stay calm for sanity's sake.)

I caved in earlier and took a Clearblue digital...and then wasn't hugely surprised when it came back with a cheery 'not pregnant'. I've been feeling more off than usual all day so at about 5:30 when I went for a shower, I thought 'why not use the standard Clearblue test that came in the box with the digital one.' So I did and then promptly ignored it in favour of hairwashing. 5 minutes later I glance over to where the test is sitting and see what I think is a bfp. After much inspection under a number of lights I decided I'd contracted 'line eye' so decided I wouldn't tell DH as felt a bit silly.

A couple of hours later I changed my mind and told DH while out for an early dinner; he was amused and said he wanted to see the test anyway. Anyway, after some faffing about he decided he could see a line too.

So, fifteen minutes later here I am having taken a First Response test (I knew there was a reason to stockpile tests!); after three minutes (and completely vacating the bathroom while the test worked, so as not to jinx it) there is an unquestionable second pink line.

I know it's early days still, and I won't actually know anything for a little while yet, but yes...

Argh!

mrsb87 · 11/01/2014 20:42

Aaaah kiki congrats! Thats uber exciting. When is af due?

Helen87 · 11/01/2014 20:57

Oh my god Kiki I'm so pleased for you, that's such good exciting news!! I'm glad the millions of tests came in handy :) You're definitely going to need the extra hot chocolate breaks!! What happens next then?!

Ladymillion · 11/01/2014 21:11

Exciting news Kiki congratulations!

Still in the land of limbo here; CD41, come on AF! (Wouldn't say no to BFP though hehe Wink)

Helen87 · 11/01/2014 21:27

Lady- not tested?!

Ladymillion · 11/01/2014 21:31

Plenty of tests Helen (too many haha) I need to calm the f* down! Grin

Helen87 · 11/01/2014 21:33

Haha oh dear, easily done though!! Are you usually this late?

Ladymillion · 11/01/2014 21:59

I'm not actually sure Helen, I've never took any notice before... I think they've always been slightly longer than the average month so 41 days isn't completely odd or anything. Never thought I'd see the day where I'd be willing my cycles to be shorter!

binkybunny · 11/01/2014 22:10

How exciting Kiki! Keep us all updated!

After a nice walk today I'm back on the sofa feeling rotten. Got to be feeling better in a few days though as my cold and splitting headache has really bad timing Angry

binkybunny · 11/01/2014 22:19

In terms of keeping fit I'm starting healthy eating and exercise next Friday with a PTas at size 16 I'm sure I could already pass as 6 months pregnant! I already spin and hill walk so keeping going with that and OH is on strict instructions to step away from his daily chocolate bar.

rambini · 11/01/2014 22:48

Congratulations Kiki! That is really exciting!
I have been trying to do more exercise, but when I get home from work I am always exhausted! Roped my husband into coming swimming with me today though which was a bit of a bonus!
Ladymillion - I know the feeling, this month was 44 days and I am willing them for the first time ever to be shorter!

misskgb · 11/01/2014 23:28

Wooooo hoooooo!!!! Super exciting news!!! Funny how one was no but the other bfp! Imagine if u didn't do the second one, u still wouldn't know

My friend is pg #2 n she said her body just told her each time so maybe sometimes a woman just knows

Its funny how excited I am that one of us got a bfp!! Smile

Ladymillion · 12/01/2014 00:05

rambini hopefully we won't have to endure many loooong drawn out cycles before we get our BFPs Wink

KikiThePea · 12/01/2014 10:23

Thanks, everyone Smile

How are you all this morning?
AF would be due on Wednesday (it better not turn up!), so another few days until that milestone is passed.
I used another FR stick this morning and the line is significantly darker than the one last night; which is good, because there was a moment when I woke up where I couldn't decide if I'd just had a very vivid dream - which happens quite regularly in my life!

I guess now I just keep an eye on it and let my GP know; the general idea seems to be that you tell your doctor as soon as you find out and they will either want to see you as soon as possible to get a few things noted down, or won't actually want to see you at all until around week 7. It seems to depend on who your doctor is as to what the procedure should be. I'm going to call when I'm fairly sure af isn't going to arrive and just ask the receptionist what the practice policy is.

I've got my fingers crossed for all of you!

Helen87 · 12/01/2014 11:04

Aw that's such good news! Let's hope this is a really lucky thread! Really makes me feel more positive for some reason!

So do you feel any different?!

Makes sense, suppose there's not much the doctors really do until the 12wk scan, unless you need them for any reason!!

Are you keeping quiet about it for now?

KikiThePea · 12/01/2014 11:21

I really hope this is a lucky thread too! It would be so nice to all go through this together, even if there's a couple of months between us.
I do feel less like I'm going mad! Having a more likely explanation for the indigestion (and possibly the weird hot leg thing!) is actually quite nice.

We're keeping completely quiet about it until we're hopefully a bit further along, and then I'll tell my mum. I don't want to get her too excited when there's still a fairly high chance that things could go wrong.

DH is amusingly overjoyed, although he is describing his current mood as 'cautiously excited', which I think is a very sensible way to approach it all!

rambini · 12/01/2014 11:41

Haha I like that phrase 'cautiously excited'. So pleased for you :-) Your BFP has made me feel more positive and excited too! A wonderful start to 2014 :-)

mrsb87 · 12/01/2014 11:45

Wow what a cheery way to start a sunday! I hope your positive bfp spreads to thge rest of us kiki Wink

elmee2 · 12/01/2014 12:11

Hi may I join in I have done nothing but read all your threads for the last month it's so nice to see I am not on my tod and going mad just a bit about me I don't want to go on but feel like I am going mad I found out I was pregnant on the 26 th of nov but bye the following week at 6 weeks I had mc I was really upset but thought at least I no I can conceive as I was told it would be hard now five weeks after mc I got my af but only lasted 3 days on and off but for the last week and a half I have been getting symptoms felling sick on and off tummy cramps not fancying any food at all but eating what ever is in front of me so the sick feeling would go and now I have got thrush baps feel heavy on and off pains in them I don't no when my next af is coming as they can go anything from 22 to 40 days sorry if I am going on I just don't really no how to tell the other half with out sounding like I am mad lol

Helen87 · 12/01/2014 15:28

Kiki- cautiously excited is an excellent phrase!! You'll have to let us know what your GP says. Do you think it'll be hard not to say anything whilst you're away skiing?!

Elmee2 (think that's your name, cant look back on my phone when I'm typing) sorry to hear about your mc. To be honest I've no idea what to say about your symptoms. Have you posted on any of the threads specifically for people TTC after a mc? You might get people with a bit more experience on those. Good luck :)

mrsb87 · 12/01/2014 15:41

Just mirroring what helen said, there are a few tgreads with peopke who have had mc and may be able to better advice or relate.
Hoping for good news for you though elmee2

misskgb · 12/01/2014 17:24

Dh talked yesterday about us both actively ttc for the first time. Wants to wait til after his bday in feb but then said I can tell him what we should both be doing so im def feeling this is a lucky thread! (We're not currently actively ttc, we're just not doing anything to stop it)

Talking with u ladies def given me confidence to talk to hubby about stuff as can talk about the obsessive stuff to u n pick which bits to discuss with him

Got more confidence for us all still after kiki's news so as disappointing as it was when af arrived, there's always next time!
