Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

Fruityb · 05/01/2014 20:23

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

I'll be honest I have never really counted cycle days before but I sat and did some working out yesterday and worked out af should arrive on 25th. 8 days will be 4 days before my (hopefully) missed period......I think. Confused

Helen87 · 13/01/2014 11:04

Kiki- I'll investigate the Boots ones instead then, that's more reasonable than the Holland Barrat ones and they do clearly work. Haha laughed at the frolic acid!

Oooh I bet that was such an exciting time for you. It's such good news, I am really pleased (and also a little bit jealous.....!) Do you think you'll keep doing the odd test?! I can see me doing that up until I started to get a bump or after the first scan!!

Mrsb87- the 'poas t-8days' really made me laugh! I Think that's around when I'll start testing if no AF!

Do you think you could pregnant and actually have no symptoms?! I'm guessing you can because a lot of people don't seem to know they're pregnant for a while but then on here everyone is obsessed with symptom spotting!

The main thing I am at the minute is starving hungry, but that could be a hormonal thing after coming off the pill I think! I'm not reading too much in to that really!

Hazelbrowneyes · 13/01/2014 11:31

Hi all, I'm also new to TTC.

I took my last pill at the end of November, withdrawal bleed as normal and first "proper" period arrived 31 days later so I'm pretty pleased about that! Thanks to all the cramping, I'm fairly sure I ovulated on CD18 last month. No idea what my cycle length will be this month but I'm having the same symptoms at the same time as last month - cramps on CD7 and CD12/13 but not as bad as those on CD18 last month!

I've been taking folic acid since November, no other vitamins yet though. I haven't cut out alcohol yet but seeing as I'm now in my suspected fertile window, I will stop drinking now.

This is my first proper cycle where we're trying so my stats are:

Hazelbrowneyes, 28, TTC #1, Cycle #1, BFP due 31st Jan

RhiBee29 · 13/01/2014 12:12

I'm taking folic acid with added vitamin c and d, they are £3 in Home Bargains, you get 90 but need to take 3 a day.

Helen87 he has me on a budget, even deactivated my eBay account! There is a saving plan but our cooker blew up on the weekend so that's gone out the window now :(

binkybunny · 13/01/2014 13:26

Just to add to the vitamin discussion I'm taking the multi vits as I am prone to colds and was told not to take berocca while ttc and these have folic acid in too.

I'm so overacting to everything. My stomach was twitching earlier. Obviously a nerve but I was sat at my desk wondering if maybe things are going on in there :-)

KikiThePea · 13/01/2014 14:31

Hi Hazelbrowneyes!

Helen - I'm trying to refrain from testing again until next week. I'm calling the surgery tomorrow to see what the process is, so hopefully I can start having some other milestones to look forward to!

Also, I think it's perfectly probable to be pregnant without any discernible symptoms - particularly if you're not looking out for anything! Don't necessarily dismiss the eating thing - after the nausea in the middle I've gone back to being starving again! I'm doing some last minute holiday shopping today and had to pop into Boots part way through for a bag of maltesers....

Rhibee - oh no about your cooker! These things have a tendency to happen at exactly the wrong moment, don't they?!

Binky - at least we can all share our overreactions on here!

misskgb · 13/01/2014 15:18

Ok so laughing lots at all the DH comments, very funny!! Mine will say he's interested to know something and I'm like yeah I know that, but haven't been reading(!) Also trying not so tell him 'she said' stories from on here!!

DH wants me to keep taking the folic acid for now and then look into the multi vits after his bday (no reason other than he loves to set a deadline- I think he then sees it as on his terms), but i saw some in wilkos the other day on offer, just didn't take much notice of what they were.

this AF seams to be very different from the last two- only minor cramps the morning i woke up to AF and VERY light. 2 days is about right for me but just almost seems like I'm not really on AF (not sure if that makes any sense or has any importance, just noting the difference!)

misskgb (although realised I really should have put mrs! oops!)
28, ttc#1, came off pill end Sept and now on af#3

cheshirem2b · 13/01/2014 16:25

I'm new here as well and me & OH decided at xmas that it was time to TTC... very exited but I'm a control freak and the whole not being able to plan etc is driving me up the wall. I ovulated this weekend according to the tests and we DTD twice over the weekend but who knows... will keep trying and having fun while we do.
I know the stats say it takes months/year but I am really ready for this now and can't wait!
Google is evil though isn't it? I searched (stupidly I know) for all the early signs and I know I'm going to be sat at home, in bed, at work thinking...!

KikiThePea · 13/01/2014 16:40

Hi cheshirem2b! Yes, google is evil, but I'm convinced the forums on here will do even more to convince you that you have pregnancy symptoms because suddenly you'll read about things you'd never even considered searching for yourself!

KikiThePea · 13/01/2014 17:00

I've called the surgery and have an appointment tomorrow morning. Eep! They seem very keen to see anyone who has taken a home test, and it turns out there are quite a few gps there who have various ob/gyn-focused qualifications, which I'm hoping is a good thing! Now I just hope they don't think I'm too overeager seeing them before my predicted af date. I just really don't want to leave it until the end of next week when I'm back to speak to someone about it!

Anyone else feel like they're permanently attached to a box of gaviscon tablets at the moment?

Oklahoma · 13/01/2014 17:06

At least we can all be symptom psycho together. I am normally quite same but DH has already started rolling his eyes every time I get my phone out and saying 'are you mums netting again?'

misskgb · 13/01/2014 17:15

Oklahoma- my DH roles his eyes when he sees in my eyes that I want to dtd!! haha...I've got to convince him (by not talking about it apparently) that I'm not only trying to bed him to get the goods!!! Imagine what he'd be like if he found out there's not just one of me out there (and yes....I'm talking about you lot on here too!) Grin

Helen87 · 13/01/2014 18:23

Kiki- good luck at the doctors tomorrow, let us know how you get on. Good to hear that there are more specialist doctors about. Don't think they'll say anything about you testing before AF because women who aren't regular must test all the time before AF is technically due! Laughed that you 'had' to pop into Boots for Malteasers! Indigestion isn't good though. Did you not really get it before you were pregnant?

Thanks for the vitamin advice, I'll look into them if AF shows up.

Hazel- welcome!!

RhiBee29- I laughed my head off at him deactivating your ebay account, not good about the cooker though. Things always come up at the wrong time don't they.

misskgb- I always forget that I am a 'mrs' too, I also can't get my head around saying my husband!! DH is so much more comfortable. Hahaha the getting the goods comment was soooo funny! I also can't believe that you only bleed for 2 days, I bled for at least 7 even whilst I was on the pill!! Thinking about POAS?!

Cheshirem2b- welcome as well! I know what you mean, we weren't supposed to be trying until march but now we are I'm obsessed!! How have you been getting on with the OPKs?! I've only really tested a couple of times, once after getting EWCM and it was positive but now I'm concerned that it might not have necessarily meant that I was ovulating because I've read they might not always be accurate?!!

Think I've replied to everyone :)

binkybunny · 13/01/2014 18:34

Having read everyone else's DH comments on here I think mine is doing v well. Even found out just now he's been looking around on MN! Better be careful what I'm saying as I don't think there are many more binkybunnys around- Hello DH if you are reading, I'm not really that obsessed! Blush

Kiki- good luck for tomorrow. So exciting!

cheshirem2b · 13/01/2014 18:52

Helen87 - we have been using OPK for a couple of months once we thought we'd TTC in new year and seem to be going ok. I'm quite regular and get high/peak reading at similar points in my cycle when I should so seems ok... Who knows!

Oklahoma · 13/01/2014 21:27

What is opk?

Just read the dtd comment to dh who unsurprisingly just rolled his eyes...

mrsb87 · 13/01/2014 21:57

Oklahoma its an ovulation prediction kit. Don't worry it took me ages to work all of these out, some are still a mystery!

Kiki I hope tomorrow goes well for you!

I have been to my first aqua jog session this evening and oh my what a work out! Im pooped.

Been feeling sick again a lot today and peeing like theres no tomorrow! !

Gennz · 13/01/2014 22:06

welcome boumplj and lorelie

I can't decide if I'm being crazy or not ... Today is CD17 for me, I usually have about a 28 day cycle but last month was 26. So not 100% sure when I ovulated but my fertile period could have been as early as the 7th, and we DTD every second day last week (exhausting!)

I've had sore/swollen boobs over the last day or two and now am feeling (very) slight cramps very low down on my pelvis. AF not due til 23rd. Could these be implantation cramps? They don't feel like period pains.

Really feel like I'm being a bit crazy tbh ... ! This is my first cycle TTC so I think I'm probably being a bit over eager!

Helen87 · 14/01/2014 08:10

Morning everyone, I'm loving all the symptoms this cycle, hoping we have loads of bfps before the end of the month!! I have absolutely no idea on any of your symptoms, but I'm thinking nothing should be ruled out until AF arrives!! It seems like it can be wildly different for all women and sometimes TTC makes you account things you'd normally ignore to pregnancy so I think it's far too hard to tell!! But keep positive everyone (bit of a cheesy pun there)

Aqua jog sounds interesting, is it what it sounds like and basically consists of running in the pool?!!

Anyone found coming off the pill has made them really hungry?! I've been so starving since about Wednesday last week (which is when I think I ovulated) so I'm wondering if it's all the shifting about in hormones that I'm not really used to?!

Once again, happy making your pregnancy official day Kiki SmileSmile

mrsb87 · 14/01/2014 08:34

When I was on the pill (about 7/8 yrs ago) all I wanted to do was eat! Hated the pill and depo so just decided not bother with any of it!

When we got there we were asked to grab a float which sits on your back and clips in round the front under your bust. It started of with warming up and doing some circuits round the pool at different speeds and then turning around (so the flow of the water was completely against you!)
After a few minutes of that the floor of the pool lowers from underneath you to about 1.8 meters so your float is holding you upright and your still using you legs to "jog". We also did some exercises with hand held floats. It was a really good workout, im definitely feeling it today!

Day off from work today so will probably be lurking around here a bit!

Helen87 · 14/01/2014 08:59

mrsb87- is depo the injection? Yeah I remember being starved the first month I went on it too, so wondered if the same might the case coming off it!

Haha that sounds like fun! I dont think they do anything like that where I am live. Lucky you being off work today. Up to much?

mrsb87 · 14/01/2014 09:06

Yea depo is the injection, I put on so much weight on that. Horrid thing! The pill for me wasnt much better either. Hormones are strange things helen, make ya sick then your staring again!
Hopefully not a lot just some cleaning really. Such an exciting life I lead! Maybe get the wood burner going and do some crochet....who knew I was only 26 haha.

Helen87 · 14/01/2014 09:26

Yeah I've not heard anything good about the injection too be honest! I was ok on the pill but now I'm all over since I've come off I'm not touching anything until after I've had a few kids! !

Yeah hormones are shocking arent they. Today I'm starving, a bit nauseous and knackered. Woohooo!

Haha sounds like a good day. I'd be happy to do anything except work today!!

Hazelbrowneyes · 14/01/2014 10:48

Argh! Smear test yesterday which went fine and cervix looks healthy...but nothing else does. So I need to see a doctor and have a STI check (which I know will be clear but it's for peace of mind) asap. I'm now panicking a bit and I'm so, so sore. I've also bled after the smear, which is unusual for me and it's brown rather than red which surely indicates old blood? Sorry for the TMI there!

So now I'm panicked, I need to have yet more rummaging and I'm fertile this week. BRILLIANT. 1. I'm sore so don't really fancy DTD and 2. I'm scared to fall pregnant incase the rummaging harms the foetus.

TTC really messes with your head. Can I have some words of advice, or a slap please?
