Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

I haven't read all the thread so hoping I've got the point when I tell you this....

I came off the pill, periods perfectly normal, on time ect...ended up ttc for 2 years!! Did all the tests, temps, used apps, took supplements ect nothing....gave up...next month pregnant!!! Unfortunately lost that baby...1st month of "trying" (knew I was ovulating ish...boom back in the club- due 31st July!!

Meaning of the tale- often ttc takes over everything else with out realising. Have a romantic meal, a few drinks unwind & see what happens...

Good luck x

Hi binkybunny use this page to help you with the acronyms www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms definitely helped me when I first came on here!

KikiThePea · 10/01/2014 09:46

Morning, everyone! How are you all on this surprisingly nice (but very cold) morning?

Helen87 · 10/01/2014 10:39

Tired and starving!!! You?!

KikiThePea · 10/01/2014 10:45

Tired and so far from hungry it's incredible. After the last couple of days of being ravenous, nausea set in yesterday afternoon (possibly unsurprisingly), so no more Toblerones for me.

Helen87 · 10/01/2014 10:48

Haha yeah probably not surprising! I felt repulsive last night!! How many days until you test?!

KikiThePea · 10/01/2014 11:57

I'm not sure yet. I'm tempted to wait until Wednesday, just to see if AF turns up on time. Then again, I'd want to notify my gp as soon as possible, so I might test on Tuesday to give me a free day before we go away. I've had stomach cramps again since yesterday, and backache so I'm thinking it's likely this month is a no go; but that's perfectly fine as it is only month 1, after all!

Helen87 · 10/01/2014 12:41

Yeah, suppose it would be very lucky to get a bfp first month. If you carry on with AF symptoms sounds like she might be on her way, but there's always hope seen as the symptoms are meant to be similiar?!

I've had little bits of bleeding since midweek so I'm guessing that's not a good sign?!

mrsb87 · 10/01/2014 13:04

Hi ladies hope you are all well today! I have another 2 weeks ish before possible AF but mine have always been so irregular its unreal! I think I've decided counting days etc isn't going to be the best way for me.
How are you guys getting on?

misskgb · 10/01/2014 14:02

still no sign of AF today, but as it's only full cycle #2 there's no saying that my cycle is only 24 days so telling myself it's due next week

If you lot will eat lots........Smile

Oklahoma · 10/01/2014 14:05

Thrilled to find other newbies to talk to, finding all the threads a bit overwhelming with the acronyms and all.

TTC #1 and not quite sure where to start really. 2 week wait at the moment but Mrs B like you I'm really irregular so not quite sure when to test...

Tired, starving and really thirsty all week but think that's probably a symptom of coming back to work after the xmas break rather than anything more exciting.

Fingers crossed for everyone...

mrsb87 · 10/01/2014 15:29

The only possible symptoms I'm having are nausea and a really metallic taste every now and then like I have a penny in my mouth (hmm)

binkybunny · 10/01/2014 19:16

Thanks misskjb will have a read through that! I'm laid on the sofa with cold. Don't want to take any cold remedies so planning on sweating it out au naturel and hoping it goes away soon :-(

noimagination80 · 10/01/2014 19:27

Hey all, I am ttc #1 came off the pill in September and I cycle 4.

binkybunny · 10/01/2014 19:27

I did buy Pregnacare multi vitamins and folic acid today though to try and fight the cold. Am I a bit sad that I got excited buying vitamins specifically for TTC?! Also had to prise myself out of the baby section in our local department store which I 'mistakenly' ended up in during lunch break. I never thought I'd become quite so obsessed, especially this early in trying!

KikiThePea · 10/01/2014 19:33

Hello all!
mrsb - you'll certainly have to keep us updated. I have no idea what's going on anymore. Cramps, no cramps, cramps, no cramps! Such fun!

Helen - I have no idea about bleeding at this stage. I feel a bit like we're all flying blind despite the huge amount of (conflicting) information available.

Binkybunny - I got inordinately excited when I bought ttc vitamins too, so you are not alone!

mrsb87 · 10/01/2014 19:51

I too have joined the pregnacare clan and learnt that they do a male version! Dh is worried it will make him a bit rampant, lol! Dont think he needs to at hah!

binkybunny · 10/01/2014 20:17

Ooo is that a side effect mrsb87? Will be off back to Boots for the male version then Wink

mrsb87 · 10/01/2014 20:33

Binky I thought it sounded iteresting too, might get him some. Think you can get it off amazon?
I dont want to be too presumptuous as I can't test for ages yet!

Kiki it's madness isn't it? I've never paid so much attention to my own bodily functions before.

misskgb · 11/01/2014 12:44

So AF has come to visit. First time I've been disappointed really- not pg, can't DtD for a few days, bad cramps AND need to spend £s to keep AF in check. Never mind. At least my cycle looks fairly settled

Might look into pregnacare multivits. Already on folic acid. What else are u all doing to get your body 'ready'?

Helen87 · 11/01/2014 12:51

misskgb- sorry evil AF has arrived. But like you say at least your cycles seem like they're settling. I'm just taking folic acid at the minute. Supposed to be eating really healthy too but I'm struggling with that a bit!

What are you all doing about exercising? I've carried on with my spinning class but also going to do some morw gentle exercise like swimming.

mrsb87 · 11/01/2014 14:32

Ah sorry to hear evil af has shown up for you misskgb! Another month of fun dtd!

Ive been swimming and starting a new class on monday called aqua jog which sounds interesting!

KikiThePea · 11/01/2014 15:14

Sorry to hear about witchy AF, misskgb! Fingers crossed for next month.

I'm feeling slightly left out as I'm not on the Pregnacare vitamins - I'm on the Sanatogen Mum to Be ones (I think I liked the name better....yes, I was feeling that shallow.)

I'm going for my usual brisk, long walk every morning. Running has been sidelined since before Christmas, so I doubt I'm going back to that any time soon. Swimming will continue for as long as possible, I think, with the occasional bout of skiing between now and Easter (although not entirely sure how helpful that will be, even though it's usually brilliant at getting back to normal after Christmas!)

Oklahoma · 11/01/2014 17:27

Ooh I'm on the sanatogen ones too (and for the same reason Kiki) surely they all do the same though right?

mrsb87 · 11/01/2014 17:32

I can't see there being much difference...I only got those because they were the only ones the had in holland and barret and I only had a 10 minute break on friday!
