Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

Fruityb · 05/01/2014 20:23

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

.....to add my friend go pg over New Year when she got totally wasted. She didn't know she was pg and all was fine

misskgb · 15/02/2014 22:53

Hi lolly. We talk about this a lot! Some stay off alcohol completely, some have a little bit, some wait for bfp before cutting out/down. I've not had any on the last one or two but like Moo says, cant put everything on hold!

Helen87 · 16/02/2014 06:49

Morning everyone!

Well I'd POAS a few times before but that was the first time I felt like there might be a chance that it was positive! Yeah it wasn't even like I slow burner, it pretty much screamed BFN at me as soon as I'd put it down!!!

Kiki- thanks for the advice. Last night I had a few tiny little spots when I wiped. I presumed it was AF arriving but there's nothing again this morning. Weirdly that's exactly what happened to my sister when she got pregnant and she didn't get a BFP until a week after she thought she was due on. She wasn't testing every day though. I'm still thinking that it's probably a slow arrival of AF but I suppose there's still a tiny bit of hope until she properly arrives! I'll keep you all informed.

My husband is really not happy about me drinking during the tww. I'm going a long with it at the minute because it's only early days and we don't need more stress with it all, but if we're trying for ages I think we will need to relax that a little bit. Don't want to get drunk but the odd glass of red might help me through the tww!! I've got a friend who got smashed, eat raw steak, soft cheese, the works....and then got her BFP the next day and she has a perfectly healthy little baby now. So I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Lady- what's the plan for you now!

Misskgb- any plans to get through the devil that is the tww?!

Lolly84 · 16/02/2014 12:11

Thanks for the advice, I didn't go crazy last night just had a few drinks. Been so hard as I have had my big birthday and other occasions to contend with. This is the only the second 2ww for me and have had enough already. Just feel normal so not so positive for a bfp. Xx

misskgb · 16/02/2014 13:52

Helen- until af or bfp, keep thinking good thoughts! Tbh I'm enjoying dtd with dh-might keep that up if we can! ;-) dh bday and weekend in London so got plenty to keep me occupied until next milestone

Ladymillion · 16/02/2014 14:41

Haha Helen 'screamed BFN before I put it down' - good description! The plan for me is test test test until AF/BFP... Also to continue DTD as much as possible as I still don't even know if I've ovulated yet/at all. All very annoying. In fact I don't I've experienced anything more annoying.

Helen87 · 16/02/2014 18:54

Misskgb- glad your enjoying dtd, it's such a pain when it becomes a real chore!! I read a really funny/ concerning thread the other day where the girl said her dh watches porn in another room and then comes in when 'he's ready'!! I'm glad you've got something to look forward to to break up the tww. I'm going on a little family holiday at the beginning of March so that should distract me too!

Lady- it is ridiculously frustrating isn't it. Have you tested again today?!

Well there has been no sign of AF or any more blood after the tiny little spots last night. I was looking at my app thing today and realised that last cycle I OVed quite late in the month, which puts me not as many dpo as I thought I would be. So now I'm confused because last month I OVed on about cd19 and AF turned up on cd28. If it's the same this month, AF should have been due on 14th but that would only put me at like 11dpo when I tested. Which I know is when some people get their bfps, but also plenty of people get bfns for quite a bit longer, especially if implantation happens up to 12dpo, so there's no chance at that stage because there wouldn't be enough hcg in your blood! It's all so very complicated.

I'm definitely not one of these deluded people who is inventing symptoms left right and centre and clutching on to every hope of being pregnant. So I hope it doesn't come across like that. At the end of the day only time will tell, but god it's bloody painful waiting!! When I saw the blood last night I was sure that AF was on her way and resigned myself to that fact, but then after today I am a little bit more hopeful again.

Thoughts anyone?!

misskgb · 16/02/2014 19:30

If u can't think out loud on here then where can you?! Its not a sign of craziness, it's trying to get things clear in your mind. If this was an exact science this forum wouldn't exist! !

Can't say I'm an expert on ov-ing/dpo/implantation n all that so don't know what it means but the fact af isn't here is a good thing! Keep calm n poas when your body tells you to. FX hun xxx

Helen87 · 16/02/2014 20:00

Thanks for that. You're right, I am thinking out loud and trying to make sense of it all! It's so hard when you start googling stuff and get loads of different stories etc!

I might try and keep a bit of a low profile for a few days to try and distract myself. I'll definitely let you all know when I have an answer one way or another though!!xxx

Booljc1976 · 16/02/2014 21:44

Hi I'm new to this website and needed somewhere I can explain how I feel as I have no one apart from my husband, we've recently moved areas and live 2.5 hours away from family and we've just been given some devastating news, after a lot of tests, nhs and private I've been told I'm going throughout early menopause, we are a desperate for children, just one would be great as we would the adopt, but I'm having so much trouble and don't know what to do. I'm going to buy conceive plus tomorrow and hopefully this will help I spend most of my day crying and wish I could look on the bright side, but after 3 years if trying, I'm losing hope fast and don't know what to do anymore.

Wilsy79 · 16/02/2014 23:31

Well... It looks like my "breakthrough bleed" was in fact my cycle because I have now started my second period bang on the due date taken from the first day of my last bleed....if that makes any sense! Hopefully the pill is fully out of my system!!!!

Wilsy79 · 16/02/2014 23:39

Booljc1976- hello there... Welcome to the site. I'm pretty new too and wanted to say hi. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. ??

Ladymillion · 17/02/2014 07:15

Helen yeah I will be testing daily now no doubt!

Boo that sounds awful, I can only imagine how you must be feeling, how old are you if you don't mind me asking? And how do they test for early menopause? Really puts things into perspective for me when I'm whinging about stupid stuff

Hazelbrowneyes · 17/02/2014 11:01

Boo that sounds awful. You poor thing. I wish I had some advice I could give x

Helen, I was so sure you'd be posting your BFP this weekend! I hope it turns up early this week Smile

Wilsy, I had my first proper period 31 days after breakthrough bleed. Nice for it to come back quickly isn't it?

As for me, I have no idea where I actually am in my cycle and whilst frustrating, it's quite liberating in a weird way. I have no idea if I ovulated on the 11th (as I thought I would) or on the 14/15th as I had cramps on these days (but EWCM on the 8th?) so I think I'm somewhere in the 2ww but I have no idea where! At least I can't symptom spot as I don't know how many dpo I am! Grin

misskgb · 17/02/2014 13:28

I'm fairly the same Hazel- whilst I know my cycle is 24 days and seems to be fairly regular now since coming off the pill, I only have my app to tell me about OVing. I don't want to use OPKs so am just dtd alot :-) haha!

I had severe sharp pains yesterday that felt like someone was piercing me with a pointy sharp implement from below going up the front of my tummy. They really made me wince- DH didn't know what to do when I jumped up in pain. Strange!!

weebairn · 17/02/2014 18:03

Finished mental weekend at work.
8 weeks +2 now.
Still feeling pretty sick and tired. Can't wait for the first trimester to be over…
Told my parents today and they were thrilled! It feels a bit more real now. It's so weird in the early weeks. Easier when you have a bump and kicks!

Fingers still crossed for you Helen!! I know exactly what you mean about lying low, I did the same when my period was late.

Lolly84 · 17/02/2014 18:04

Hi Bool, have they looked into IVF or other options. So sorry to hear about your situation. Really puts things into perspective.

Last year I was worried as went through lots of tests as I was bleeding between periods. After going private it turns out I had a polyp which looked like a thickened uterus lining. Just going through that on its own was horrid never mind what you are going through.

Good luck xxx

Lolly84 · 17/02/2014 18:06

Ps has anyone else had a polyp removed from their uterus? I had a d and c to remove it. I am worried that it affects conception? X

BlondieNZ · 17/02/2014 19:19

Hey everyone! I finally got my mirena out on the 4th of Feb and I told myself I wouldn't go baby crazy but I think I already have. I got a withdrawal bleed on the 5th for 5 days so I know it's far to early for symptoms but this past week I've been ridiculously tired. I slept for 11 hours last night and I could go back to bed right now. I've also had weird cramps, been dizzy and have sore/bigger boobs. I bought a pregnancy test today (not planning on using it for a week..), someone slap me please.

Lolly84 · 17/02/2014 20:55

Blonde you have made me lol x

Hazelbrowneyes · 18/02/2014 16:20

Hi Blondie

I'm not sure of how it works on the mirena but I'd say if you had your withdrawal bleed on the 5th, then you might not have even ovulated yet Smile

All the symptoms you're describing are what I had within the first few weeks of coming off the pill.

Symptoms of pregnancy won't usually be present until after implantation takes place which is anywhere between 7 and 12 days after ovulation.

I'm on cycle two and have all the same pains post ovulation I had last month (which I thought were pregnancy symptoms) so I expect AF to arrive on schedule next week. I think the pains and symptoms I had were usual PMS symptoms which I haven't experienced for a rather long time!

I'm weirdly ok about it not happening this month - of course, there's nothing to say it definitely won't happen but I'm sure it's not going to be a lucky month for me. I have a strange feeling it's going to take us a long time.

Any news yet Helen?

Helen87 · 18/02/2014 18:17

Hazel- still no period or any signs of period. I'm still holding out to do a test. Can't bare the thought of seeing another bfn, was so depressing on Saturday. Probably going to leave it until Saturday to do another test, if AF hasn't turned up.

One thing I've left from this is you never know until you know, so I wouldn't rule yourself out yet Smile

misskgb · 18/02/2014 20:12

Helen, I feel like we should be urging you to do one so we can all find out together but I think you're doing really well to not get your hopes up and wait a little longer x

Helen87 · 18/02/2014 20:27

Haha thanks. I won't lie, the more the days go on, the more I am getting my hopes up. Over the last few days I have been really really warm, I usually evil eye everyone who opens the window, whilst I'm wrapped up, but today I had to open it a few times myself. Plus I've felt nauseous at various points in the day for the past few days. I'm still getting loads of cm but no remote signs of a period. If I get a bfn at weekend, I'll be gutted and my body will have been playing awful tricks on me. BUT I know it's possible this could be happening so I'm hanging on to wait for the point when I'd expect it to be a strong BFP if I was pregnant. It's bloody hard though!

How are you getting on?

Lolly84 · 18/02/2014 21:37

Hazel, I feel the exact same as you. I think my awareness of my body has heightened and every twinge I get I think 'oh could it be'. I was just never aware of my body and it's probably gave me little twinges all the time. They say it takes the average couple a year to conceive. My sister was on her first try but have a feeling it's going to be a while for me. It will happen when it happens I think. Xx
