Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Morning all
I am 7 weeks today, feeling sick as a dog and tired, but still so happy. Can't wait to be out the first trimester though, the tiredness and the uncertainty. Struggling quite a bit with entertaining the toddler and a bit anxious about busy week at work next week, just got to take it a day at a time I guess. Got midwife appointment in 10 days or so, and I expect my scan will be middle of March.
Glad you had a nice appointment Kiki. I was completely boringly straightforward last time, right up to completely straightforward labour and birth, so hope for the same for you!!! I've already had the flu jab as I work in the hospital.
Fingers crossed and happy shagging for everyone.

weebairn · 08/02/2014 08:20

binkybunny I have sent you a message with details of yoga poses to avoid in pregnancy...

Helen87 · 08/02/2014 08:26

Welcome to the craziness muddy!

Hi Kiki- nice to hear from you! Glad your midwife appointment went well. Definitely can't argue with being very boring and straightforward can you. Hopefully it will continue all the way through until you have your baby. How are you getting on at work if you're struggling out look at computers?! If I'm like you with sickness and tiredness etc I bet I become such a whiny cow!! DH will be absolutely sick of me!!

Hello again weebairn- yeah I can imagine it adds a whole new level of knackeredness when you've got another child as well! I'm sure 'taking it easy' won't be really in the question for you.

I've got just short of a week to wait now. I keep looking at my tracker app thing and realising that I have none of the symptoms that I had last time as AF was on her way and starting to feel a bit excited, but then I realise it's all very early days for me after coming off the pill and there's nothing to say I would feel the same this month as I did last month. Think I'll know a little bit better towards the middle of the week if I don't get the back ache and cramps. Ahh it's such a cruel game. Thanks for the fingers crossed, I'll be keeping you all informed!!

binkybunny · 08/02/2014 18:33

Hi weebairn thanks for the message. The tips are great. I am soooo tired when I get in from work I havent managed yoga yet. Just been walking around the park in lunch breaks. I'm so bloated I feel huge so trying to keep fit as much as I can.

Thats great everything is good with you kiki I'd rather have boring and straightforward. Going to see the midwife in 3 weeks. Seems like forever!

Helen, Misskjb and everyone else fx for BFP's!

binkybunny · 08/02/2014 18:37

helen I had and still have cramps and back ache I was sure it was AF on her way and got the BFN a week before the BFP so if the symptons do arrive don't give up hope!

Helen87 · 08/02/2014 18:41

Thanks for that binky Smile Smile

fatpony · 09/02/2014 19:45

I've posted on this thread a couple of times. Slightly in schock but tested today and got a BFP! I thought something was up when AF didn't appear Wed/Thurs when due but got period-like cramps on Friday so thought no chance. So excited and happy but very early days at the moment so being a bit cautious.

Does anyone know when you should tell your GP?

binkybunny · 09/02/2014 20:38

Congrats fatpony! Thats amazing :-) Those cramps do make you think AF is on the way!!!

I went to the Dr straight away. I asked the receptionist and she booked me in that day. He gave me folic acid checked blood presure and gave me a pack with mw notes to complete. Also booked me in with the mw at 8 wks and started the ball rolling by refering me to the hospital so they can book me in for the 12 week scan.

Gennz · 09/02/2014 20:40

congratulations fatpony! is it your first? Exciting!

Hi ladies!! I'm CD10 so heading into what I think is the fertile period (am testing with OPKs but don't want to get too hung up on them). Really hoping this is the month, as if it's much later we're heading into heavily pregnant in high summer territory and I really want to avoid if possible! Really though any time would be godo I guess.

Helen87 · 09/02/2014 21:27

Hey fatpony that's great news!! Congratulations SmileSmile there are some many people who wrote on this thread with bfps now! You tel have definitely taught me not to feel too negative if the cramps start!!

Gennz- welcome back!! Hopefully you'll get your BFP this cycle too. Are you going to hold off testing for a bit longer this time?!

AF is due on Friday ish for me. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

MuddyLady · 09/02/2014 23:23

Congrats fatpony! And Good luck Helen87. My AF also due by Friday. Have you been TTC for long?

fatpony · 10/02/2014 07:03

Thanks everyone. The funny thing is I know exactly when it was conceived as we only DTD once around ovulation as DH was away and then we had people staying and not much time. Got a smiley face on the OPK and did it then. Yes, it's the first! Can't quite believe it :) Will ring the docs today.

Gennz · 10/02/2014 07:24

Yes Helen I am definitely not poas unless AF is late! Was going loopy last month. Have now had 2 cycles since I had my IUD removed so hopefully cycles have settled down.

Helen87 · 10/02/2014 08:00

That's so lucky fat pony! Congratulations, keep us informed of how you're getting on!! How long were you trying for?

Gennz- yeah definitely a good plan. I keep having thoughts of testing early but I really don't think it would do me any good. So just going to hold off and if AF doesn't show up this week I'm going to test on Saturday!

KikiThePea · 10/02/2014 09:42

Morning!

Congratulations, fatpony! I called the doctor fairly quickly and had an appointment the next day. Then I booked in with the midwife for just over 7 weeks (they try to have that appointment just before 8 weeks in my area) where I had bloods taken and scheduled my flu jab for the next day. The doctor referred me to the hospital after my first appointment and they scheduled the 12 week scan for me (and sent the date and my maternity exemption nhs card in the post) .

Helen - work currently involves turning the brightness down on all screens and actually wearing sunglasses at times where that's not possible. I look ridiculous but it really helps. As does lucozade (which the midwife assured me can actually be a miracle for anyone who is nauseated 24 hours a day - she's right, it's amazing how quickly one little sip works!) I'm counting down the days until Friday for you!

Wilsy79 · 10/02/2014 10:38

Hi everyone, I'm 34 and my boyfriend is almost 25. I went to the doc after a bad bleed and she gave me the "Ur clocking is ticking" lecture but I was so scared to tell my chap as he is pretty young I guess. I spoke to him and instead of the expected panic he embraced it completely and we stopped taking the pill on 17th jan this year. Since then I've logged my periods and am expecting one at the end of this week. I really hope it doesn't come and we're lucky enough to get caught straight away. I'm not letting it stress me but I want it so badly. Every stomach twinge and headache prompts me to log it on an app and keep everything crossed! I'm glad I'm not the only one that secretly wants it more than anything whilst trying to look calm on the outside. Good luck everyone.

Wilsy79 · 10/02/2014 10:41

??

Hazelbrowneyes · 10/02/2014 13:04

Usually by now I've had some cramping but none so far. Am on CD14. Fertility apps says I should ovulate tomorrow. Noticed EWCM on Saturday and yesterday. DTD CD11, CD12 and planning to tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday not that DH knows this

Yes, this is me confirming that we are still going to TTC, despite last weeks thoughts. Grin

Helen87 · 10/02/2014 15:36

Haha aww bless you, I bet you look really funny with your sunglasses on at your computer, but anything is better than feeling sick all the time I bet! I'll remember the Lucozade advice. Thank you :) I feel like I am constantly on crotch watch at the minute, which is grim. So far I haven't noticed any symptoms at all really, which might be a good thing and might not be. Only time will tell though!!

Welcome wilsy79- fingers crossed you get lucky this week too! I'm hoping the longer it takes the easier it will be to ignore any potential symptoms, but I think it might be the other way round! Hopefully neither of us will be trying for too long though :)

Hazel- I'm really pleased you've managed to get things back on track :) It's such a stressful time, it's good that you're taking time to think everything through!

fatpony · 10/02/2014 20:04

It was my first month - beginners luck I am sure. Don't feel any different, I long may it last!

Helen87 · 10/02/2014 21:13

Fatpony that's even better!! Were you on any kind of contraception before you started trying?

Wilsy79 · 10/02/2014 22:07

Thank you so much for Ur kind words helen87. I've had dizziness and an odd feeling in my lower tummy today but I think I'm looking for it plus very easy to be period symptoms. I'm really wanting to do a pregnancy test but I've only been off the pill 3 weeks... Had a period within 3 days but I think a test may still be a little soon. I must say i will check this link every day now because I was thinking I'm going crazy as I can't stop thinking about it but can see I'm not alone. Sorry to ramble.

weebairn · 11/02/2014 07:16

binky bunny I know what you mean the fatigue is crippling. I am still trying to do a bit of yoga just because I think it helps with the nausea. I do just 5-10 minutes sometimes, and during toddler nap time I have been doing some very relaxing yoga nidra which is lovely.
Try not to worry about bloating, i don't think there's much you can do about it. People's bodies react so differently to pregnancy. I showed really quite late last time (after 20 weeks really) but I hear 2nd time bellies are stretchier! We'll see. Clothes fitting ok for now.

Sickness is horrible here (though not vomiting). I am trying travel sickness bands but I can't exactly wear them at work! Poor kiki with the computer screen aversion. What do people say about your sunglasses?? I must admit I am jealous of a job where you get to sit down though. I work on my feet and I am shattered. On call all weekend 13 hours friday saturday and sunday… .. ugggh I am going to die. Please let the first trimester pass quickly!!

fatpony congratulations!! That's fab news and how lovely on your first cycle. I called my GP at around 6 weeks and they told me to call the midwife directly for a booking in appointment (this is the hour-long first appointment where they take lots of details and bloods etc) which they like you to have at around 8-12 weeks. In some places you have to see the GP first (like kiki).

Hazel I'm glad you got a solution sorted! How is his drinking going?

Good luck to wilsy and helen for the weekend!!

Hazelbrowneyes · 11/02/2014 08:24

wilsy good luck! Just remember, your cycles can go mad for the first few months after taking the pill. My first month was 31 days, second 28 days and we're now into the third and it's a bit of a guessing game really. I wouldn't test yet. Are you doing OPKs? Or have you had any cramps that could be ovulation cramps?

I convinced myself I was pregnant last month. From 8dpo I was dizzy, had nausea, cramps, sore boobs, etc. I got quite excited! Then AF arrived. So this month I've made myself promise not to symptom spot.

I think my cycle might be a bit screwed this month. I should ovulate today and would normally have cramps but nothing. This will be just my luck…there's me thinking how great it is that my cycles have returned to 28 days and it could be, well, it could be any length really couldn't it? Oh, must remember EWCM arrived over the weekend. That means I must ovulate soon right?

The weekend was rubbish for both of us to be honest wee and we both know it, so we stayed in last night and plan to do the same tonight. Tomorrow we have a training day and lunch out so we’ll have a few drinks then but we won’t go overboard.

Helen87 · 11/02/2014 09:02

Wilsy- Fingers crossed your cycles get back to normal straight away. But when I came off the pill, it took me 8 weeks to get a normal period (other than the usual pill break through bleed). But I have heard of people getting pregnant straight off the pill so fingers crossed you're one of those!

Weebairn- Hope you're not feeling too rubbish for too long. Do you think there's much chance of avoiding the sickness?! You lot have all seemed to be affected so I'm losing hope I might get lucky and be ok!! It must be hard to be on your feet all the time if you're not feeling good, but sometimes being able to sit at your desk and wallow in self pity isn't the best either!!

Hazel- Yeah I had loads of 'symptoms' last month but this month I've had nothing really so god knows what's going on. I definitely think the lesson is not to read anything in to anything! The only symptom I would trust 100% is if I started throwing up because I've not been sick in years and years and years, so I'd know that something was up. But that's not supposed to get you until later down the line is it! Yeah I think EWCM is a sign of ovulation, I seemed to get it quite a lot after when I thought I have ovulated too so again who knows about that! Have you been drinking during the TWW? My DH is dead against me even having a small glass of red during that time. Didn't argue too much this month but if we're trying for ages then I think I'll need to relax that a bit. I think it adds too much pressure and it's not like I want to go out and get smashed, I only wanted a tiny glass to take the edge off!

Good luck everyone, another day down! I feel like I'm wishing my life away at the minute!!
