Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

Fruityb · 05/01/2014 20:23

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Hi , so basically I got my first smiley ovulation test 29th and second on the 30th 5 days later which would make me cycle day 14 I have had light painless bleeding only when I wipe I've had this for two days could this be implantation? Or am I ovulating late I don't normally get ovulation bleeding like this it's normally just a bit of red tinged mucus or spotting for under an hour and then nothing comes of it , I have a 28- 32 day cycle which I mainly have a 32 day cycle so is this implantation or isit to early to be ??

Helen87 · 05/02/2014 12:16

Hi to the new people! This is a good place to chat and vent!

Implantation is usually 6-10 days after ovulation and implantation bleeding only happens to about 1 in 3 women and it's usually dark coloured because it's old blood apparently. It's probably unlikely for it to be implantation bleeding so early. Our bodies are so confusing arent they!

I had a lot of spotting last month. I think it was probably my hormones being a bit all over the place after coming off the pill but if you've not been on contraception and don't normally get it then I'm not sure what it could be! Also I've never used a fetility monitor and there seems to be quite a lot of confusion about when you actually ovulate after getting a positive so cant help you with that one!

sorry for the rubbish reply, hope you get an answer soon!

Hazelbrowneyes · 05/02/2014 12:33

kgb, your advice is excellent.

I think he would change when we have a child as the weekends sat in a pub will definitely stop! He's a good egg really.

Having a v. stressful day and typically it's me who could do with a stiff drink! Ho hum.

Helen87 · 05/02/2014 15:08

Haha yeah perhaps best to step away from the wine!!

Bit of a graphic change of topic but is anyone paying attention to CM?!

misskgb · 05/02/2014 22:25

I tried during last ov but found it too confusing!

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 11:30

Yeah me too. No idea what's going on with it to be honest!

Wish it was next week already. Even though time is going fast I wish the tww was over!

misskgb · 06/02/2014 11:40

Think positive thoughts Helen- we're all right behind you! I wish AF would get lost already. Blumming painful this month. Me, painkillers and my hot water bottle are glued together atm, even at work!

Hope you're having a better day too Hazel

Craftycat- this is a good place to sound off about when AF comes to visit, and the craziness that is the tww! A lot of us are doing this in secret too, and there's a couple with bfps who are keeping schtum too.

Demi- I've not used opks so don't know about them at all and am not sure on implantation bleeding either sorry! Helen sounds like she has a better idea x

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 11:51

Thanks misskgb! I'm hopefully realistic at the minute! It'll all change if af turns up though I'm sure. Hope the pains go soon. You don't need that on top of the annoyance that she's turned up in the first place.

I only know this from googling it! I've decided if I see any blood I'm going to presume it's early af because the thought of implantation bleeding gives you false hope I think!

craftycat89 · 06/02/2014 15:30

Thanks misskgb its such a relief that im not actually crazy lol.

helen I did the same thing getting my hope up during the first 3 cycles getting what I thought were implantation bleeds and getting all excited and it was just early periods. its best not to think about it. Even if you end up finding out a month late that it was an implant bleed its better than worrying.

x

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 16:22

Yeah exactly. I can't hack the stress!

What cycle are you on now?

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 16:23

Ignore me I've just seen your lower post saying you're on cycle 5!

misskgb · 06/02/2014 18:06

Part of me wishes I had longer cycles so that af doesn't visit so often but then I guess I ov more often so shouldn't complain. Seem to be on 24 days.

I feel really sick which is unusual for me. Cramps and backache are intense n I'm a bit off my food. Dh knows I'm not right when I go off food!!

Feeling sorry for myself! !

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 18:17

Yeah 24 days isn't long at all is it. Was that the case before you were on the pill? Do you think you ovulate early or have a short phase after ovulation?

Aw you poor thing. Hopefully it'll be gone soon.

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/02/2014 18:22

Hello, also a newbie, ttc #1, cycle 3. 9 days into the 2WW and sending myself mad reading quack internet sites about pregnancy.

I've just read an (American) article saying orgasm during 2WW can dislodge implantation. Please please please tell me this isn't true.

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 18:31

Hahahaha I'm really sorry but I had to laugh at that. I really don't know if it's true but it just goes to show you can literally read anything on the Internet about trying to conceive!!

My rational is that if it was so easy to stop yourself from getting pregnant and to stop it from developing there wouldn't be as many unwanted pregnancies. So I wouldn't worry too much about it!

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/02/2014 18:47

Yeah I think it's a myth propagated by the type of fundie who thinks women shouldn't orgasm ever, and if they do it must only be once, at the time of conception!!

I really ought to step away from the internet before I find myself doing some weird diet, never orgasming and standing on my head twice a day to conceive...

misskgb · 06/02/2014 19:28

Before coming off the pill id not had af for 10 years n can't say I counted says when in my teens or if I did I don't remember! No idea when I ovulate-I just go off what pink pad tells me!!!!

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 20:57

posy- haha I know, I think there are a lot of extremes that we could and probably would go to if we believed everything that we read online!!

Misskgb- sounds like you're in the same boat as me. From what I remember (bearing it mind it was about 10 years ago) AF was pretty regular to within a few days or so but that's about all I remember!! So wish I'd have come off the pill ages before trying, but I didn't so no point moaning about that eh!

misskgb · 06/02/2014 22:13

Now Helen, we both know that if you'd have come off the pill earlier to 'get your body ready' you'd have started trying earlier! ! Dh said he wanted me to have at least 3 afs before we stopped using protection. I think we managed two n one of those was only really spotting! [Smile]

Helen87 · 06/02/2014 22:19

Haha you're exactly right! We went from end of the year, to summer, to march, to January! Wish next Friday would hurry up now so I knew either way. Big fat booooooooo to the tww!

misskgb · 07/02/2014 10:50

is there anything in why some people have heavy and some have light AFs or why some are 2 days some are here for ages? Just a question I thought of when driving to work this morning!!

Helen87 · 07/02/2014 14:57

I've often wondered that as well. I've always had heavy, long periods, even whilst on the pill. But last one was only 4 days and manageably light. I hope if I continue to get AF for a bit it carries on like that! But yeah I have no idea why some people only have like a couple of days of light bleeding and that's classed as normal as well!

misskgb · 07/02/2014 17:12

That's what I have-2 days and fairly light but really painful! !

MuddyLady · 07/02/2014 19:11

Hello Mumsnet! This thread is great timing. Like the OP, I've been lurking here for ages but have now decided to sign up and join the conversation.

After years, and years, of not knowing whether or not we want to be parents, me and the DH are going to give it a go. This is a new world for me. I've spent half my life trying not to get preggers and need to get my head round this change of gear. Its so lovely to be able to read the thoughts and experiences of other people here in similar situation.

Good luck to everyone TTC!

KikiThePea · 08/02/2014 07:44

Hi everyone! Just checking in to say hi and hope you're all well. Sporadic absence set to continue as looking at laptop/phone screens doesn't help with the nausea.
I saw the midwife on Thursday, and was told I was 'the most straightforward in a long time' - I'm embracing my boringness and hope it continues. I had bloods done, made decisions with DH about Downs testing, and 24 hours later popped back for my flu jab.
Nothing to do until the scan in just under 5 weeks now, but then the appointments seem to build up quite quickly as this is pregnancy 1.
Anyway - all good, and pleased my completely irrational fear that the midwife would be mean was ridiculous and unnecessary!
Fingers still crossed for your bfps, Helen and misskgb - I can't wait for you to get them!
