Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Poor you! It sounds awful. I know last week when a felt nauseous all the time I just couldnt stand certain smells and I still cant manage a full cup of coffee which I drank by the bucket load. I am thinking it was just a stomach bug rather than anything more exciting though!

Cheese and oranges sound pretty good though. But agree not together!

Helen87 · 28/01/2014 17:31

Does anyone else reckon they get ovulation pain?! The first half of last cycle and seemingly mid this cycle I'm getting slight cramps and like a pinching pain in the lower sides of my stomach. I'm not sure what the hell is it though because I don't remember getting this when I was on the pill!!

Misskgb- the tww is definitely rubbish. After the initial disappointment AF showing up is a bit of a relief I think so at least you know! My tww will probably start from early/mid next week. I'm cd12 but I'm going to keep going a bit longer in case I ovulate late.

Fingers crossed for you binky!

Sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish Kiki. Hopefully it'll pass before too long. Have you told anyone else that you're pregnant yet?

weebairn · 28/01/2014 17:35

Sorry to hear you got your period, Hazel. Have a glass of wine!

Still got fingers crossed for you, binky!

Kiki, oh love, sorry to hear you are suffering so much. I never actually vomited last time I was pregnant but I felt nauseous pretty much all the time, it was crap. I found eating plain food quite regularly was helpful. I ate a lot of yoghurts! Fresh air and exercise really helped too. I am trying to do a little bit of exercise every day to keep on top of it myself, though I am only feeling mildly nauseous at the moment.

weebairn · 28/01/2014 17:36

(It stopped bang on 12 weeks last time, for the record)

Hazelbrowneyes · 28/01/2014 17:39

Thanks guys.

Helen, I definitely get ovulation pain. First month I had cramps on cd18 - period turned up 14 days later. This month I had them on cd14 - period turned up 14 days later.

Hope everyone is ok. Sorry you're feeling crap Kiki x

Helen87 · 28/01/2014 18:12

Hazel- does it just last a day?

Hazelbrowneyes · 28/01/2014 18:32

I had cramping on and off for 2 days beforehand then excruciating pain on the day I ovulated. I guess I should say "the day I think I ovulated" as I'm not using opks

Helen87 · 28/01/2014 20:12

What does the pain feel like?!

binkybunny · 28/01/2014 20:32

Helen I get horrendous ovulation pain, like a tearing feeling. First time it happened a few years ago I went to the doctors I was so worried! Is this not Mittel something?

This month I had some really strange cramps too that I havent felt before. Like a tight knot almost and they have continued on and off since ov.

Helen87 · 28/01/2014 20:46

Yeah it has some weird German name! Mine isnt that bad but it's definitely unpleasant and a bit weird!

Have you always got it?!

Gennz · 28/01/2014 20:53

Mittelschmerz! Means pain the middle.

Poor Kiki, it sounds horrible! Sickness is sign of a healthy pregnancy though right? Silver lining!

I'm still in no man's land! No AF and no BFN. I'm starting to assume I am actually pregnant though, so no booze and no sneaky cigarettes Blush Talked to my BF and she said she had all the same symptoms as me and didn't get her BFP til 2.5 - 3 weeks, and even then it was faint. She also talked me off the ledge of trying to get a doctor's appointment! Fx something happens soon - if I don't get AF/BFP this week I think I'll get a doc appointment next week. I used up my last test this morning so will hold out buying more til the weekend. Will keep you posted!

Fergie11 · 28/01/2014 21:03

Sorry to hear about AF Hazel. Totally agree about symptom spotting however I have no idea how to distract my mind.

binkybunny · 28/01/2014 22:11

Helen I have had it for as long as I remember before having the depo and since coming off the pill. I hate it but useful to know when oving now.

Thanks Gennz for giving the actual name. I hope you get a result one way or another preferable a BFP obv!

Helen87 · 29/01/2014 07:44

Yeah that's very true. I'm not long since off the pill so I'm still trying to work out what it all means!

Helen87 · 29/01/2014 07:44

Gennz- glad your friend has helped you put your mind at rest. Hope you get your bfp soon!

Hazelbrowneyes · 29/01/2014 08:17

It feels like someone is punching me from the inside, then stabbing a bit, then putting all their weight on me and then finally it feels like my ovary has burst open.

Horrendous.

I then had cramps for the last 4-5 days, like AF cramps but less intense and I optimistically thought it was implantation cramps but noooooo, it seems like my body likes to cramp for more days of the month than not.

weebairn · 29/01/2014 08:36

I am finding cold fizzy water helps with waves of nausea. Bleugh.

My baby is (amazingly!) sleeping from 6pm to 6am but I keep waking up at 4am feeling a bit sicky…

weebairn · 29/01/2014 08:37

Genz so sorry for the wait, it must be driving you mad!

I am pretty sure a doctor here would ask you to wait a week then do another test - but I think you are in a different country?

Helen87 · 29/01/2014 09:24

God Hazel that's really grim isnt it. What did the doctor say when you went?

Helen87 · 29/01/2014 09:25

weebairn- were you nauseous with your last pregnancy too?

weebairn · 29/01/2014 09:28

Yes. Not terrible compared to some, and never vomited, but nauseous most days till about 12 weeks. Little snacks helped… I ate a lot of fruit and yoghurt. I know I'm pregnant because I don't miss wine!!! Meat is a bit off-putting too...

How is the sex going Helen!?

KikiThePea · 29/01/2014 12:22

Thanks everyone. I've resorted to my old standard remedy for sickness - fizzy water and cream crackers. DH keeps giving me wary looks every time I eat something as last night I came out with 'this tastes like death'...even though we were having a usual favourite for dinner.

Helen - nope, we haven't told anyone else yet. Think we're going to tell my parents in a few weeks when I go home for my birthday weekend (hopefully will be about 9.5 weeks then), and telling in laws just before the scan as the day of the scan is the day before we go away with them and there'll be too much going on in the evening. Siblings and everyone else will find out after that.

Weebairn - I hope this sickness goes away at 12 weeks too! Although the thought of 6 more weeks of being pathetic doesn't full me with great joy. Ha!

Gennz - yes, I've heard that sickness can be a good sign, so this better be a very healthy little baby at this rate!

Hazel - those cramps sound awful!

Helen87 · 29/01/2014 18:27

What date is your scan Kiki? Neither my mum or sister got any morning sickness so I'm hoping that I follow their suit. It does sound awful!

Weebairn- managed every other day since cd6 so doing alright so far! It does feel totally forced most of the time but it is what it is!! Cd13 today so still got a few more attempts yet!!

binkybunny · 29/01/2014 19:18

Well still no sign of AF but holding out til Sat to POA S as feeling a bit murderous which is usual sign AF is just a day or two away Sad

Also DH has talked me into waiting. Think he's scared he'll have to take me shopping to cheer me up again if I get a BFN!

Kiki and Weebairn, hope the sickness goes away soon for you both

KikiThePea · 29/01/2014 19:20

Helen - my mum didn't have much sickness, and my sister in law the same, so I'm somewhat grumpy! Haha. Oh well, at least I can stop pretending to be super cheerful on the phone soon and can moan to my mummy!

The scan is booked for Friday 14th March, which no longer actually seems like an age away.

I've got my fingers crossed again for you this cycle!
