Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

I did another test this morning and the line is a bit darker. I don't think there's any scientific reason to retest though, I'm pretty sure it doesn't prove anything except that you are pregnant, and it has huge potential for stressing you out, so I am stepping away from the tests now!!

weebairn · 27/01/2014 08:34

Mrsb I didn't mean you were presumptuous at all!! I just meant don't get worried or stressed that you still have to register with docs etc, you have plenty of time. How are you feeling?

Gennz · 27/01/2014 08:37

only a month weebairn so it's not a major, I just hate not knowing one way or the other. (plus my boobs really effing hurt)

Helen87 · 27/01/2014 16:35

Any progress Gennz?

Hibou7688 · 27/01/2014 18:33

seeking expert opk advice again!! now on day 5 if flashing face.. if I don't get a peak have I not ovulated?

broodysnoopstie · 27/01/2014 18:44

I think if you have been getting flashing you will get a peak you might just be finding out you ov later than you thought! what CD are you on?

Hibou7688 · 27/01/2014 18:52

Cd13.. It's my first month using clear blue, before I was using the cheapy ones but seemed to always get a positive, this might be why!

Gennz · 27/01/2014 18:54

Still no AF, still BFN! Today is probably 13dpo.

broodysnoopstie · 27/01/2014 20:22

hibou my cycles vary from 30 to 35 days but I normal get my peak on cd 15 16 or 17.. How long are yours? I have found CB opk good but never got a pos on IC x

Hibou7688 · 27/01/2014 21:11

Cycles were 28 but last two were 36/37! Think I only have 2 sticks left so will start testing every other day and hopefully not miss the peak!!

Fergie11 · 27/01/2014 21:41

Another newbie here who is Ttc #1. I was tested last year at docs where they told me I wasn't Ovulating. Heart breaking but just had 1st app with fertility clinic where they think I am, but wrong date was tested. I am on dpo7 and I am a moody mess since dpo3 with cramps, need to stop analysing everything!!

Gennz · 27/01/2014 22:36

Girls I feel like a loon but I'm starting to feel I must definitely be preggers. My boobs have been sore for a good 5 - 6 days solidly now, but not in a PMS way (whic is usually ony for a day before AF - they are really full and heavy & tender round the nipples (sorry TMI). I had quite sharp cramps on the 22nd - 23rd which were much more painful and "stabbier" than usual AF cramps - at the time I assumed it was AF cramps (hence knocking back the bubles to celebrate my work thing Blush) but no AF has arrived. PLus I've been stupidly hungry and tired and felt a bit queasy yesterday afternoon and first thing this morning (nott full on nausea though).

I keep getting BFNs, but would my GP think I was totally mad if I requested a blood test? Have started reading about women who never get BFPs on hpts!! If I'm one of them I'll go lala (rather, more lala I should say)

Helen87 · 28/01/2014 07:43

Gennz- to be honest over here I reckon they'd make you wait a bit before testing because it seems to be reasonably common to just be late. I dont know for sure but when I asked for an appointment because I hadn't had a period in so long they said I had to wait 6 months so I can't see them doing blood tests for a period that's a few days late. BUT I don't know for sure and it might be different over there. You could always ring and ask, especially if it's taking over your life a bit?! Fingers crossed you get an answer soon Smile

Gennz · 28/01/2014 08:06

I think you're right Helen!! The reason I'm getting so wound up is b/c I've been off hormonal contraceptives for 4 years and AF has been regular as the clock for 3! (until this month!) Fx for a BFP or AF - at this point I don't care which!! Smile

Hazelbrowneyes · 28/01/2014 08:32

Well I'm out for this month. AF arrived today. I'm a bit disappointed to be honest, especially as I'd pretty much convinced myself that all the weird symptoms meant I was pregnant. Hey ho.

On the upside, this is cycle 2 since coming off the pill and cycle lengths have been 31 days and now 28 days.

Helen87 · 28/01/2014 08:38

Gennz- yeah I don't blame you for getting wound up at all. Just seems like when you read these threads quite a few women say their cycles change a bit when ttc, which seems sooo unfair! Fingers crossed for you still though.

Hazel- sorry to hear that af has shown up. Probably all need to learn a bit of a lesson about symptom spotting though. Quite a few people I know said they had no symptoms at all until their period was late. Like you say it's good news that your cycles are going back to normal though. Fingers crossed next cycle you get your bfp.

Anyone else wish we could fast forward time to see which month we get our bfps?! I know it'd definitely take the edge off for me!!

Hazelbrowneyes · 28/01/2014 08:47

Yes, I'm not symptom spotting from now on!

Thanks Helen, maybe Feb will be the lucky month for both of us! Smile

I've got to pick myself up, I promised DH I wouldn't get too upset in the first few months as I don't want to increase the pressure on either one of us.

Must think positive! The upside to not being pregnant is I now don't have to explain why I'm not drinking on a bar crawl on the 8th, I can drink at a party on the 15th and if DH and I go on a short break (around the time ovulation is due Wink) then I can relax in the jacuzzi and enjoy a few drinks as well.

broodysnoopstie · 28/01/2014 09:40

hibou just checking are you using fmu with cb opk? They are different from ic opks that way. If you still have any ic left you could do one in the afternoon as well as CB in the morning to make sure you don't miss it

misskgb · 28/01/2014 10:21

well I must say, this tww lark is not fun at all. Only about 6 dpo and another 8 or so waiting for AF but still, I'm bored of waiting already! I said I wouldn't overthink cramps or backache as they're both pretty standard for me, but sore boobs for about 4 days is getting on my nerves!

Hazel- sorry about AF! make sure you enjoy the alcohol and the break away

Gemz- see if you can get in with your doctor without telling the receptionists what it's about. I don't tell mine most of the time and not because I don't want them to judge or stop me from getting an appointment, but coz it's none of their damn business!! If you get in to see your GP then they can decide if they need to do a blood test. The worst that will happen is they say wait a bit longer, but might say x amount of days to give you something to focus on rather than just not knowing what to do when!

binkybunny · 28/01/2014 11:07

Hey Gennz do you have private care rather than free nhs type we have here? Where we used to live the doctors would do anything we wanted as it was private care and we were paying!

Sorry Hazel to hear AF arrived. Mine is due today but not arrived so keeping everything crossed. Dont feel v PMS'y but trying not to get too excited after my BFN on Sat.

Fingers crossed for you binky!

KikiThePea · 28/01/2014 11:25

Sorry to hear about AF, Hazel. Fingers crossed for everyone waiting for BFPs in the next few days, or indeed in February!

binkybunny · 28/01/2014 11:30

Thanks Hazel and Kiki how are you feeling now, still icky?

KikiThePea · 28/01/2014 11:51

Really awful, binky. I've cancelled so many things over the past few days because I just can't face the thought of feeling so ill in company (Dh excepted, obviously....he's stuck with me). The nausea has gotten worse so I feel like I'm just waiting for morning sickness to actually kick in past just feeling sick. Eurgh.

DH cleaned the bathroom and kitchen at the weekend (because I couldn't take the lemony scent of the cleaning products) and had to keep all the windows open for hours and I swear I can still smell lemons now, even though DH has assured me he can't.

The self-pity is reaching new heights every time I discover something else tastes 'weird'. Yesterday it was water. Haha. I know I'm being ridiculous on some level, but it's so hard to care when I only want to eat cheese and oranges (but definitely not at the same time!)
