Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Binky- your Doctor sounds a bit of a shit! loads of women have kids in their 30s don't they! I only started wanting kids in October last year and we were going to wait until March so start trying but it does start to consume you doesnt it! I'm hoping it doesn't get worse with the longer you're trying or it'd be all I ever thought about!!!

mrsb87 · 26/01/2014 08:50

Morning ladies, hope everyone is having a good sunday morning?

Binks sounds like your doctor is a bit of an arse! My sister and sil both had 2"in their 30's. All healthy kids and no complications.

Ah sorry for your confusion gennz, sounds like af is playing a right game with you!

binkybunny · 26/01/2014 09:07

Ha ha he was an arse and my usual lovely lady doctor went and tore strips off him!

How are you feeling Mrsb? Is it this week you're off work?

Oh yes im here being a right lazy oaf! Dh is still at work though so I'm having cuddles with with other 3 boys. I'm normally so busy I don't know what to do with myself. Im just glad I have some time off, I'm seriously shattered.

Good for your lady doctor binks sounds like she had him under control!
I havn't even registered with my local doctors sugery yet....will do it monday. Need to get an appointment booked in.

KikiThePea · 26/01/2014 09:37

Morning everyone!

Binky - woah, that doctor sounds like an idiot! I'm glad your usual doctor took it up with him!

Mrsb - has the nausea let up yet? I hope you have a lovely week off!

mrsb87 · 26/01/2014 09:51

Not yet kiki, still icky in the mornings. How are you getting ok?

broodysnoopstie · 26/01/2014 10:27

hibou I'm sure 10 will be enough I would be trying to dtd every other day or 2 days if you are getting flashy Smile as even if you did run out of sticks before you get a fixed I think you'd hit the window that way. Also I'm not very good at this myself but maybe keep an eye on cm to give you a back up to opk. Good luck!

KikiThePea · 26/01/2014 11:18

Mrsb - still icky here too, sadly. It's fairly constant sense of 'eurgh' most of the day, but It's definitely worse in the first hour of being out of bed, and then again at about 8/9pm.

weebairn · 26/01/2014 17:08

Hello lovelies

Feeling a bit more pregnant now. Waves of nausea and tiredness though nothing too bad. Sat in the pub all afternoon and drank soda water... Small amounts of quite plain food seems to be going down best.
I had a look at the due in September thread but there were hundreds of them and it was all a bit intimidating - might hang out here instead if you don't mind that this is baby no 2 for me!!

Binky your doctor is ridiculous. Women's fertility can decline after 35 but I think we all know that!! Loads of people have babies easily enough in their late thirties too.

Mrsb I'm going to ring the docs when I'm about 6 weeks to get a midwife appointment I don't think there's any need before then.

Helen87 · 26/01/2014 19:12

To the pregnant ladies- how often did you dtd on the cycle you conceived?!

Ladymillion · 26/01/2014 19:17

Binky I can't wait to be able to buy tiny clothes! Smile

Helen I read about the sperm meets egg plan... We are just gonna try and DTD every day (not sure if we'll be able to sustain this hehe, but it's worth a try)! I am also using cheap ovulation sticks to try to make some sense of my cycle. What's your plan this month?

Ladymillion · 26/01/2014 19:19

Good question Helen, I'd also like to know how many times u preggo ladies DTD haha

Helen87 · 26/01/2014 19:27

Haha yeah sounds tiring! We're planning on every other day until around suspected ovulation and then dtd every day. That's what we did last month. I've read some stuff that says every day is too much to get good quality sperm though?! Reckon it matters if it's morning or night time?!!

Gennz · 26/01/2014 19:37

binky your doctor sounds like an idiot! My sister had her 2 boys at 33 and 36 and my mum had me at 35 and my brother at 38! (We're late bloomers in our family!)

As for me still no AF and still BFN! This makes it 3 days late. I'm starting to think maybe I did ov later than I thought ... Had EWCM on the 14th and we DTD that day but maybe ovulation was a day or even 2 later? Does anyone know about such things? Which would make me only 12 or 11 dpo...

DH is convinced I'm just late and the sore boobs are a PMS symptom but I'm 50:50 ... either way I want to know!!!!

Ladymillion · 26/01/2014 19:43

Helen I haven't read anything in regards to what time of day is better to DTD, I did read some personal opinions that DTD every day can mean that sperm doesn't have time to regenerate (or whatever it is they do haha); however I then read on reputable websites that this is only true for men who have a low sperm count, or unhealthy sperm (not sure of the technical terms!). In these cases they are advised to leave a few days in between DTD. Did u use OPKs last month, can't remember if you said you did or not?

mrsb87 · 26/01/2014 19:49

Dh and I dtd every other day leading upto suspected ov and then on ov day and 2 days after that. I didn't know when I was going to ov so it was an uneducated guess.

Dont worry weebairn I'm not getting to presumptuous I understand its early days.

Gennz · 26/01/2014 21:13

I've been googling obsessively and have learnt that in NZ by law pregnancy tests mustn't be more sensitive than 25mIU/ml of hCG ... perhaps this accounts for the BFNs? grasping at straws

DH keeps telling me to "forget about it, if your period doesn't how up in a week do a test then." Bless him, he has no idea what he's dealing with.

fatpony · 26/01/2014 21:44

Binky I am 32! So there are others in the thread.

Didn't realise the clear blue smiley could flash or be still - I got a non flashing smiley face on Friday and didn't check again. Must read the instructions next time!

binkybunny · 27/01/2014 06:41

Hi Lady I'd also read that dtd everyday doesnt give 'good' sperm. DH will be happy to find out we can though Grin

So 1 day until af is due. I have cramps and tiredness but none of the usual 'I'm going to kill someone' feelings so still a tiny tiny bit of hope! Keep looking at the pee sticks but resisting until Wednesday!

Thank you all the nice over 30 people. I think I just took the BFN quite badly the other day which is ridiculous so need to get a bit more of a grip Blush

binkybunny · 27/01/2014 06:44

weebairn please do stay as at least you can be a voice of reason and knowledge having done it all before!

Helen87 · 27/01/2014 07:55

Thanks for the advice for when to dtd. Smile

I did use opks briefly last month but not bothering this month. I only really tested because I was worried about having a normal cycle coming off the pill and I tested on random days at different times so I didnt do it properly anyways!!

Gennz- I think the pregnancy sensitivity thing is probably a good thing because imagine how gutted you'd be to finally get your bfp and then for af to show up a few days later. I would definitely rather not know but when the option is there to test it's hard to resist! DH is probably right. I think you probably need to step away from the sticks to keep your sanity!!! When is af due?

Helen87 · 27/01/2014 07:56

p.s. good luck for wednesday binky!

Gennz · 27/01/2014 08:08

AF was due on the 25th! And I'm never late. Sore boobs, exhausted, feeling queasy, but no BFP. So weird. You're right though helen, you wouldn't want them more sensitive.

Next cycle I am not buying any tests until AF is late!!

weebairn · 27/01/2014 08:27

Sounds promising Gennz! How long have you been trying?

My BFP was very faint even 6 days after period was due, so you may just have to wait a few days and retest.
