Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

Fruityb · 05/01/2014 20:23

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

CD9 Helen! You?

binkybunny · 25/01/2014 09:46

Mrsb it must be so nice knowing when he/she was conceived. Does it feel very real now?

Helen I'm going to try. DH has threatened to hide the tests if he see's I've used any. He's disapointed but is a bit more rational then me. I laid in bed wallowing after the BFN while he got up and sorted out a nice breaky Smile

Whilst wallowing in bed I read over a few of the earlier posts on this thread and realised how much younger than me a lot of you are just to kick me when I'm down Is anyone else in their 30's and TTC?

Helen87 · 25/01/2014 10:23

I'm cd9 too Lady!!

Binky- aww getting a bfn is crap isn't it. Why are DHs always so annoyingly rational?! I'm not sure on the ages, I think most of us so far are late 20s

weebairn · 25/01/2014 10:30

I am a little bit older. 34 now - was 32 when I had DD. I still get IDed though so I consider myself young Grin

binky to be honest I would just drink until you know you are pregnant. But I wasn't in the habit of getting very drunk, I suppose. But I think being overly restrictive is depressing and unnecessary. And non alcoholic beer is ABSOLUTELY fine! I drank quite a bit of that in the summer last time I was pregnant.

genz the waiting is a killer! At least you're by a pool…

mrsb I don't think those tests can work out your exact due date very accurately - the 12 week scan is the one that can do it properly. Fun to see it come up though I'm sure!

I worked a long night shift last night and am totally knackered. Felt sick before it so didn't eat either - nightmare. Am making up for it with giant breakfast now. Ooooh I'm not looking forward to the nausea proper - have any of the others have much?

Helen and lady hope you are enjoying the shagging! I have been feeling a bit sensitive and weird so skipped it for a few days, also v tired with work. But pregnant sex is lovely too :)

Hazelbrowneyes · 25/01/2014 10:49

Mrsb, when was your AF due? And when did you get your first BFP?

Sorry to ask but I think I ovulated on 14th but haven't tested as thought it would be too soon...

mrsb87 · 25/01/2014 11:11

I hazel! I am usually a 26 day cycle and a estimated ovulation on the 10th, af should have been due on thursday, first test I did was on 11dpo and got a faint line with a clear blue test, did a superdrug pink dye test on wednesday, another clear blue on thursday and then a digi this morning. Keeping my fx my little bean sticks!

Badger8 · 25/01/2014 11:24

Hello, please can I join in? I have never joined a forum before so not entirely sure what I'm doing! I'm here representing the (only very) slightly older ttc-er too!

I have read all the posts and has made me feel a lot better that I am not the only one going a bit mad about these things...I'm not so great with the acronyms - we are ttc first time, came off pill (microgynon30) in dec (12th)...not af yet...think its taking a while for things to kick back in after 14 years of pill taking. Although I know it isn't that long really, it just seems like it! As its super early days it is all a secret and I am paranoid I may accidentally press the share on facebook button - why is it there and so big?! I am too clumsy...!

You girls are all so supportive and like-minded and this seems like a lucky thread! Congrats to those with their bfp!

CunfuddledAlways · 25/01/2014 11:35

my period is now 6 days late, no af signs taken 4 tests and all BFN!! ahh!! trying to convince myself to wait until payday (thursday) and buy a couple more tests unless AF arrives before then :/ hate being in limbo like this!!

mrsb87 · 25/01/2014 11:54

Welcome badger, the ladies on here are great!
Hmm sounds a bit concerning confuddled, might it be worth getting some advice from your gp?

RhiBee29 · 25/01/2014 12:24

Not popped by for a few day so HUGE congrats to all those with a BFP!

Convinced I've missed the bus this cycle so just want af to hurry up so I can get on with round 2.

I'm on a 30 day cycle and think I ov around cd15 but might get some opk sticks this month just to check. Any advice on which ones to get?

CunfuddledAlways · 25/01/2014 12:29

not sure, last month it was 4 days late but i knew it was coming if that makes sense? but this time i just dont feel anything, its like my body has forgotten what its supposed to do!! going to wait it out a few more days as longest ever cycle was 47 days (but was on implant then) now on day 37 so just hoping something happens!!

Ladymillion · 25/01/2014 12:40

I'm 29 this year binky, 30 seems to be fast approaching!

Helen great we can compare notes hehe... I am hoping my cycle is a bit shorter this month!

Weebairn enjoying the shagging thanks, yes, haha Wink

Does anyone else find themselves YouTube-ing 'live pregnancy test results'?! Seeing the reaction when it's positive makes me wanna cry! OMG I'm becoming such a strange human being Blush

Hi Badger, welcome! Where's this 'share on Facebook' button u mentioned, I'm scared now Shock haha

misskgb · 25/01/2014 12:42

I had some weird dreams last night about my ladies and their opks and bfps. Haha- crazy world we live in together on here! :-)

Badger8 · 25/01/2014 14:22

On my screen the fb twitter and google+ share buttons are all just after the last post...scared to reply and end up sharing with everyone and their dog instead! :)

Who would ever have thought we'd be hoping for af just so we know everything's either working or we can 'get on it' so to speak for the next cycle?

mrsb87 · 25/01/2014 15:16

Misskgb thats a very strange dream! I never knew we were all so important to you Wink
Badger I've never noticed that before....never been an issue for me I guess.

Hibou7688 · 25/01/2014 17:29

Just wondering is there any clearblue opk experts on here?? I've been getting a flashing smiley for three days in a row, how long will this go on for before I get the 'peak'? Very confused I thought maybe one or two days, but been reading some stories elsewhere of people getting flashing smileys for 8 days :/

broodysnoopstie · 25/01/2014 17:39

de-lurking to answer you Hibou. . I've found it is different every cycle. Sometimes I get 3 or 4 flashing then a fixed sometimes I get no flashing at all just go straight to fixed. Another time I got an empty circle 1st day (as you always do) then next day flashing then next day fixed. . Also true that some people can have lots of days flashing. . I think it just depends on your hormone levels. Good luck!

Gennz · 25/01/2014 20:27

binky I'm 32! Today AF is officially a day late. I'm usually pretty much bang on 28 days (last month was 26) and I ALWAYS get spotting a day or two before AF kicks in which this month hasn't happened at all.

Off to go and get more tests!

Gennz · 25/01/2014 22:46

Still BFN and still no sign of AF! What are the odds of AF being late the first month of TTC? My body is playing tricks on me...

Ladymillion · 26/01/2014 00:33

Gennz my first cycle TTC my cycle was 47 days! I don't know exactly how long they were before TTC as I never bothered taking note but I swear they were around 35 days. Our body's are bastards haha

Gennz · 26/01/2014 00:39

God it's so annoying Ladymillion! I had a copper IUD for 4 years (so no hormones to get out of my system) and for the last 3 I don't think I have EVER been later than 28 days, and I've always had brown spotting a day or 2 prior. What a headf#ck!!

Ladymillion · 26/01/2014 02:38

Definitely a headfuck Gennz I agree! I only started wanting to conceive at the beginning of December and now I'm just a desperate bitch! And I can't explain how or why haha

Hibou7688 · 26/01/2014 06:05

Thanks snoopstie only bought 10 of the buggers so hoping I get a peak before I run out!

binkybunny · 26/01/2014 08:25

Morning ladies! So pleased to hear I'm not the only over 30! Age doesn't usually bother me but I had a doctor a few years ago tell me that 'I wasnt getting any younger' and once you turn 30 you should just give up on having kids! Obv I know thats not true (apart from not getting younger!) but I think it was in the back of my mind!

Lady I too only seriously started wanting a baby at the end of last year and until 2 years ago didnt really even want kids. Now it is all I can think about! I havent Youtubed that but I do find myself wandering into baby sections of stores and dreamily looking at cots, pushchairs and tiny little clothes.

Do you think after a few months of trying it will get better or worse?!

Badger I have also noticed the share of Facebook button and am terrified to press it by mistake! Its just below the post message button on my phone. That would be an interesting way to tell my friends and family Shock

Helen87 · 26/01/2014 08:27

Lady- yes we should def compare notes!! Are you following any plan this month or just trying to dtd every few days?

Gennz- sorry about all the bfns. Do you believe that stress can cause delay in AF arriving?! Only explanation I can think of unless you're pregnant and it's just taking a while for your hormone level to rise. But maybe you ovulated a week later or something?! Did you get any signs?

Hiya everyone elso who's appeared or returned!!!
