Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

I think there are maybe a few Aussies? I got married when I was living in the UK so started lurking a bit when I was thinking of TTC (obviously have been thinking about it a long time!)

misskgb · 20/01/2014 10:15

I'd like to think I wouldn't find out the sex of the baby- keep up the suspense a bit but I'm not sure if I'd cope. Will have to see when the time comes I expect!

I'm due to OV this week (Weds according to my app) so am trying to get DH to dtd without telling him I'm OVing, he doesn't want to know all those details yet! This will be the first cycle I'm aware of OV dates and so my first TWW and am secretly (and maybe stupidly?) excited by it!! haha

katintheuk · 20/01/2014 11:37

Gennz, I hope you're ok with the earthquake. I hate waking up to read news like that on Stuff! I'm from NZ but have been living in the UK for 4.5 years now, I really miss home (maybe not the earthquakes).

At the moment I'm wanting to get my Mirena removed but it's too difficult to get an appointment with the GP. They say to ring on the day but by 8.30am they're all booked up and I can't even make a time for weeks later. I'm desperate to get the bloody thing out!

mrsb87 · 20/01/2014 15:08

Hi guys! I have my pee sticks ready and waiting, did a covert mission to superdrug after work. Been a really awful mood today. I just cannot tolerate anything! Hoping thus isn't pmt Hmm

Helen87 · 20/01/2014 16:08

mrsb87- POAS POAS!!!! and update us :)

mrsb87 · 20/01/2014 17:04

Noooooo I will not bow to your peer pressure!! Haha
I only have 2 so I want to give my hcg a chance to multiply!

Plus a bfn will not make my mood any better.

misskgb · 20/01/2014 17:18

LOL at Helen, cyber bullying!! haha. Fingers crossed mrsb Smile

mrsb87 · 20/01/2014 17:31

You tell her miss kgb haha!! Its hard enough telling myself to wait

Helen87 · 20/01/2014 17:47

Hahaha I just get so excited at the prospect of a bfp!!!

Gennz · 20/01/2014 18:58

katintheuk we are in Auckland so far away from the quakes, thank god. I don't know how the Wellingtonians cope with it, I lived there for a while in my early 20s and it freaked me out - and even more so now after Chch. Do you get back to NZ very much? I'm trying to sell DH on a "babymoon" to London but he ain't buying it! If this TTC business takes longer than we anticipate it might be on the cards though, so that's a silver lining.

I am either 9dpo or 7dpo today. This week is going SO SLOWLY. Argh!

Gennz · 20/01/2014 19:00

oh and Kat I remeber how annoying doctor's visits were in London. I lived in N1 and worked in SE1 and it was always a massive trek to get there. Being able to sign up to a GP near my work when I got back to NZ was a revelation! (That said I pay $45 a time now, compared to nothing, bless the NHS)

RhiBee29 · 20/01/2014 20:09

Not a good day, been told that I have to have surgery on my arm in the summer :( do I keep TTC or wait until the surgery is done? Need general anaesthetic, the consultant said it would be ok if I was pg but I think it's an unnecessary risk. Argh...what to do?!

binkybunny · 20/01/2014 20:32

Wow 24 hours away from MN and I've missed sooo much. Good evening everyone Smile

MrsB I don;t agree with cyber bullying but I am kind of with Helen on this one- you must have so much self control. I bet you're the kind of person that can say no to a second slice of cake Cake A nice BFP would be a lovely way to break up my TWW and give me fresh hope!

I do have a vision of you in dark sunglasses and big hat skulking around Superdrug which is making me laugh Grin

On the finding out the sex thing we have already decided we are waiting. I've heard too many stories of them being wrong and the local hospital have refused in the past as either they or another nearby hospital were taken to court after getting the sex wrong.

RhiBee- I really don't know what I would do in your situation! I always thought you couldn't have GA when pregnant, but obv the consultant knows better than me. I'd say with my head to stop TTC but I know my heart would want to keep going.

We are slowly caving in on our idea of not TTC in March & April as we wanted to avoid a Christmas/ January baby. But once you get going it's quite hard to stop. Especially as I was speaking to a very good friend who I have decided to confide in and she told me her mum tried for 10 YEARS and then had 3 babies in quick succession.

Sorry RhiBee not much help really apart from I'd be as torn as you Confused

mrsb87 · 20/01/2014 20:42

Hmm cake sounds good, just got back from my weekly aquajog session. Feeking good but tired!
Haha yea Binks I hid it under someface wipes! I work in a really small town so I didn't want to be the subject of local gossip, that or my boss finding out too soon!

hmm rhibee that's a really difficult one, I have no idea what I'd do in your situation. What does your oh think?

Gennz · 20/01/2014 21:15

oh dear RhiBee - there's no way you can get the op done earlier? or postpone it til after pregnancy if you do get a BFP?

MrsB I so admire your self control, I've poas half a dozen times (waaaay too early). Lesson learnt for next cycle - do NOT buy multiple tests "just to have them". I have no self control. I have 2 left and really really need to save them for the weekend in case AF is late.

RhiBee29 · 20/01/2014 21:30

DH has been his usual calming self, he said I may not even get pg before the surgery as we don't know how long it could take and if I do get pg I can just ask the consultant to put me to the bottom of the list again and have the surgery after the baby! I go straight into negative mode and he always comes up with the logical solution. Thanks for the advice ladies, I definitely dont want the op whilst pg I'd be panic stricken!

Gennz · 21/01/2014 05:24

well ladies this is my first 2ww and I really hope I don't have to do too many of them! I ov'ed on either the 12th or the 14th and we DTD 10th, 12th and 14th, so I'm either 7 or 9dpo. A few days ago I was utterly convinced I was pregnant but now all the symptoms seem to have disappeared. Am steeling myself not to waste any more tests until the 25th (AF due date). So am having a glass of wine (maybe even two) as a consolation prize!

I don't know how people do this for years, I would throw in the towel I think!!

binkybunny · 21/01/2014 06:55

Hi Gennz I'm also on the TWW. Have not got any pee sticks as I used them all last month and I am not buying any until the weekend so I can resist the urge. AF is due around 29th for me so I am quite jealous you'll get to POAS before me. Enjoy your wine - while you can!

mrsb87 · 21/01/2014 07:32

Morning guys hope everyone is well today? Woken up with horrid cramps, realky hope this isnt af showing up.

Gennz wine sounds awesome I hope you enjoyed it!

Helen87 · 21/01/2014 07:50

Mrsb87- fingers crossed it's early pregnancy cramps and not af showing up.

TWW is such a cruel game. I'm feeling much better about the whole ttc thing at the minute. Think knowing there's no chance at the minute takes the pressure off a bit. Hoping I can remember this and stay rational during the next tww. Good luck to you all and I hope we have some more bfps this month!

mrsb87 · 21/01/2014 07:53
