Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Oh and yes, it is afternoon.....BlushBlush

mrsb87 · 18/01/2014 15:03

Hi guys, hope everyone is well today?
Binky- I've personally never experienced that before so I cant really relate, I guess is partly depends on where you are on your cycle.

binkybunny · 18/01/2014 18:45

Once again succumbed to Google and got a tiny bit excited that some people got a BFP after finding the same. There were others with a BFN but... I always like to look on the bright side Wink

Mrsb I should have OV'd on Wednesday but I might have been a bit early from cramps etc. Couldn't tell as I was feeling so rotten last week!

Now it's just the TWW. On the plus side we are looking at moving house to somewhere with a garden for when it finally does happen and I think we've found somewhere. 2nd viewing tomorrow so at least that will keep my impatient and over imaginative brain occupied Grin

Helen, I am also a wine drinker, but usually entertain at home rather than out. Thankfully I don't usually drink too much, but I will be buying share in Shloer and other grape based or wine coloured drinks as some of my friends will get suss is I turn down a glass of wine on a Friday night! If we move to the new place I will be in the next village along to the town where most of my friends are so at least I can use the excuse of being the driver!

Gennz- my GP just asked me if I knew we had to DTD around OV and that it doesn't 'just happen'. I laughed a bit at that but didn't divulge my recent obsession in tracking everything on my app!

mrsb87 · 18/01/2014 19:43

Ah binks sounds like you've got exciting times ahead with the house and tww!

Symptom crazy today guys, been really sleepy, to the point I even had an afternoon nap! Lower tummy cramps and tonight we ordered our favourite chinese, was really looking forward to this as I have been off my food for 2/3days, it really just didnt taste right, dh husband had the same and we tried ea hothers they tasted exactly the same! He was convinced they tasted the same as normal but I couldnt eat it
this had better be pg symptoms or I will be mega upset!

RhiBee29 · 18/01/2014 20:19

Sounds positive mrsb87, fingers crossed! When do you poas?

mrsb87 · 18/01/2014 20:32

I hope so! My af have never been 100% reliable so I'm estimating end she would be due end of this week! Hows this with you rhibee?

Ladymillion · 18/01/2014 20:38

Aww thanks Helen! Here's to a 28 day cycle this month hopefully! Wine haha

RhiBee29 · 18/01/2014 21:01

Not holding out too much hope this cycle as didn't get to dtd at the crucial time! Just about to cave on my janopause and have a glass of wine, my reasoning being if I get pg there will be no option for wine so might as well enjoy it while I can!

Gennz · 18/01/2014 21:18

RhiBee you're a woman after my own heart.

I thought you girls would appreciate this:

Cluck71 · 19/01/2014 07:11

Hope this helps:

I remember all these symptoms/ feelings that everyone's mentioned when we were ttc. It can make you feel like you are going nuts!

I am just 42 and my son was born 8 weeks ago. We had been ttc for 18 months and I can remember the draining feeling of watching for any little symptom and the feelings of jealousy at other parents. Neither my OH or I realised we wanted children til a couple of years ago!

Everyone is different but all I can advise is to keep fit and healthy (I was overweight and 40 when we started Smile ) keep a track on your cycle but try not to become obsessed, keep your sex life fun and relaxed ( it doesn't matter how you do it, just make sure you are!), don't google obsessively and both of you go and get checked out if nothing happens after a year. We both had tests and not long after the positive results and had just recieved a fertility clinic appt, I found out I was pregnant!

Sorry about the ramble, but I just want to show it does happen! X

Helen87 · 19/01/2014 18:37

Hi everyone hope you've all had a good weekend. Anyone POAS?! Anyone near to POAS?!! It's weird because AF is here I kind of feel out of the TTC game and haven't really thought much about it. It's a welcome break but looking forward to getting back to it soon!!

mrsb87 · 19/01/2014 18:42

Evening Helen!!
Im still trying to wait a few days, its really really hard! Food still isn't appealing to me and nothing is as yummy as it should be which is annoying, had a bottle of coke at work today and it really wasn't as tasty as it normally is. I hope this is all pg signs!

Gennz · 19/01/2014 20:30

Hello!

well I have poas several times (because I am insane). Am only 6dpo, but AF is due on the 25th so I thought if I WAS preggers I might get an early BFP with a first response test. (It's the 20th here).

Have just realised though that because I have a relatively short luetal phase, my hcg levels wouldn't be high enough til after AF is due.

Am totally symptom spotting but (TMI alert) have had nipples on high beam (and sore) for the last 2 days. tis is not normal for me at all, esp given it's summer here and 25+ degrees every day!

Gaaah I never realised quite how impatient I am ... I don't think I will be too disappointed if it's not a BFP, I just want to know either way. (Exactly the reason that when we are expecting a child there is no way I'd be able to restrain myself from finding out the gender).

Helen87 · 19/01/2014 20:48

Hi Mrsb87- you're doing well with the wait. Definitely interesting sounding symptoms. Keeping everything crossed for you. What's the earliest you're going to test?

Gennz- hahah had to laugh at the multiple POAS!! Really hope you manage to get your BFP this month. A lot of people seem to say weird boob things are one of their first symptoms so hopefully that's a good sign for you!! Where actually are you?! Sorry if you've already answered this but I've missed it. It's definitely not 25 degrees her!! Yeah it's the not knowing that's the killer isn't it! I wasn't that disappointed when AF rocked up, I think it'll get harder the longer you're trying for though. Oh yeah I would definitely have to find out what I was having. Although one of my friends got told she was having a girl and ended up having a boy so I'm not entirely sure how much I would believe them, but I'd definitely ask!! What are everyone else's thoughts on finding out?

mrsb87 · 19/01/2014 20:58

Haha gennz you sound like me. Dh knows I'm the most impatient person ever. I must admit I did poas this morn as I couldn't wait any longer! I'm sure I could see a very faint line but dh wasn't convinced (his eye sight is pretty bad even with glasses though haha!).I'm desperately trying not to get my hopes up.

Will test again in a few days I think.

How are you enjoying your worry free time helen?

Ladymillion · 19/01/2014 21:00

Evening ladies...

Helen we would definitely find out the gender! No doubt about it! My friend who is pregnant has said she's not going to find out and I told her she's weird haha! No seriously though, each to their own and all that but I personally wouldn't be able to resist Wink

Helen87 · 19/01/2014 21:01

Oooh that sounds really promising. I'd test again tomorrow morning with the first wee of the day if I was you?!

Yeah it's nice not to be analysing every symptom to be honest but it's also a bit rubbish knowing there's no chance I could be pregnant right now so looking forwars to the tww and all its craziness!!

Helen87 · 19/01/2014 21:02

No me either Lady. One of my friends didn't find out either! Cant understand how people can be so patient!!

mrsb87 · 19/01/2014 21:10

I think thats the only thing I wouldnt mind waiting for! I am a funny bean.

Ladymillion · 19/01/2014 21:13

Haha Helen I'm looking forward (dare I say it!) to the TWW as well! This AF business is like, soooo last week! I miss POAS pahahahaaaa

mrsb87 · 19/01/2014 21:16

Oh helen I'm my own worst enemy I used my last one this morning.... will have to secretly buy another couple without dh knowing......he thinks I still have one left. Oops

Gennz · 19/01/2014 21:30

My sister didn't find out both times (both boys). I don't know how she managed it!

Helen - I am in New Zealand. DH and I lived in the UK (in London) for a few years, but moved back home a couple of years ago. I miss London though, we try to get back every couple of years. I don't miss the long dark winters though! (But don't be too jealous of our NZ summer, it's still warm today but absolutely p*issing down raining.)

Just talked to my best friend (who didn't find out what she was having either!) & she said that nipples & cramps were the first signs (pre AF due/BFP) that she knew she was preg. Fingers crossed!

mrsb87 · 19/01/2014 22:08

Fingers crossed for you gennz!

Helen87 · 20/01/2014 07:32

Lady- haha I know, it's just a constant game of wishing you were at other stages isnt it!

mrsb87- oh no that's so annoying isn't it. You're going to have to do a secret supermarket dash! I'd be so desperate to know if I thought I had a bfp! When's af due?

Gennz- fingers crossed for you too! Ah right, so you're originally from NZ then? Are there lots of people on here from other countries?! I presumed it was just people from the UK for some reason!!
