I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

I agree binky you don't want to pass on a bargain! Store it at your parents or in a loft or something?kiki sounds like you need a hot bath!

Gennz · 15/01/2014 22:23

Hello ladies! I'm pretty sure I ov'd on the 14th which makes today 2dpo. AF due on the 25th so I guess I'm starting out the 2ww! Boring!

I'm quite prepared for no BFP this time - in fact I'd be pretty shocked if I did, just because it's cycle 1 and all. By cycle 3 I think I'll be gettign pretty crazy (more so than currently).

How strict are you all being re alcohol, coffee etc? After reading Expecting Better I'm being pretty relaxed - I'm having my normal 1 -2 coffees a day and will have a few wines this weekend (but nto go overboard). Once I get a BFP I think I'll cut out all booze (I'm sure a couple of drinks in a week if fine, but I kind of feel if I can't have a second glass of wine, why bother at all Blush)

That said if I'm on cycle 3 with no BFP I think I'll start being a bit more strict.

binkybunny · 15/01/2014 22:25

Phew... Glad no ones told me I'm a crazy person! Will def store it out of sight! Feeling rather teary for no reason as it is! All this TTC without telling friends and without work colleagues knowing so having to watch everything I say is rather stressful!

Ladymillion · 15/01/2014 22:34

Hey Gen! I think I'll do the same in regards to alcohol - not worry too much until BFP and then cut it out. I don't worry about coffee because I hate it bleurgh! Confused haha

Gennz · 16/01/2014 05:31

I am having lower abdominal cramps like I've never had before - quite dull but persistant. Not sure exactly what they could be? Too early for AF (due 25th) and too late for ovulation cramps (pretty sure I'm 2DPO though not 100% sure). I feel like I'm making it up to convince myself I'm pregnant but you wouldn't show symptoms that soon would you! Think I'm going to have a glass of wine & try to forget about it (it's 6.30pm here by the way!!am not a total lush!)

binkybunny · 16/01/2014 07:57

Good morning all.

Well I should have ov'd yesterday and have woken up being sick and feeling rotten. My over excited brain and the dangerous passtime of Googling has convinced me implantation is occuring. If its not I'm not quite so excited at feeling this bad!!!

Kiki hows your backache today?

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 08:49

Morning everyone!!

Binky- I definitely don't think you're a crazy person. My Mum had a little drawer of baby stuff when she was trying for my sister and she was trying for 18 months. She said she just knew that she would have a baby one day and that was keeping her positive about it so I definitely wouldn't worry you're being crazy. Especially when it's a big item that's it's actually sensible to buy and save money on!!

I haven't been drinking whilst we've been trying but I'll probably have the odd glass of wine during AF. I know plenty of people who have drunk and then turned out to be pregnant and everything has been fine, but I personally know I would worry about it. But definitely each to their own and I don't think it's much of a problem. I don't drink tea/ coffee so nothing to add about that one!!

Not sure about the back aches/ feeling sick etc etc to be honest! I felt really sick earlier in the week, then had horrible back ache and lightish cramps yesterday, then this morning I think I am starting to get a tiny little bit of AF showing. Obviously these could all be implantation symptoms, but I think realistically it's probably AF!! I'm now about cycle day 25 and 10/11 DPO so would make sense. I won't be too bothered if it is seen as it's only our first proper cycle and I would also be pretty happy that cycles seem more normal and I'd know a bit more what to expect next time!! I'll keep you posted anyways haha!

Hazelbrowneyes · 16/01/2014 09:07

I said I’d cut out alcohol this month but I haven’t Blush I haven’t had a drink for the last two days but otherwise, yes I have still been drinking, although not the amount I used to.

Caffeine wise, I’ve moved to decaff tea and I’m not struggling with it. I can easily go without coffee and I’ve limited myself to one small bar of chocolate a week.

I had really bad cramps yesterday so not sure if I ovulated. Only one month off the pill means I have no idea where cycles are really! 31 days last month so I’d expect to ovulate tomorrow but who knows!

I have the weirdest sense of “something isn’t right” I don’t know why, but I just worry that it isn’t going to happen for us. Ridiculous given the fact that we’re only halfway through cycle 1! Must think positive!

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 09:16

Hazel- I've definitely been there. Like you say we have to remain positive because there's absolutely no reason to suggest anything might be wrong, especially so early in trying. Just have to keep trying to be realistic and not go google crazy trying to diagnose ourselves with all sorts of problems!

Hazelbrowneyes · 16/01/2014 09:26

Glad I'm not the only one Helen!

I'm now worrying that I'm not taking enough vitamins. I'm only taking folic acid this month, but I have some folic acid with vits C & D in the cupboard (which I was going to save until pregnant) and I'm not sure if I should take these now?

Argh! So much to think about. Anyone else keeping a log of when they DTD and any "ooh could be ovulation?" symptoms or is that just me? Blush

binkybunny · 16/01/2014 09:45

Hi Hazel, the app I am using allows you to track DTD and I am going symptom spotting crazy, although my Dr just told me feeling sick today probably isnt a sign Sad

I have just nearly fainted having blood taken though which made me feel rather pathetic! Any one else really squeemish? If I think too much about what's going to happen I totally freak out!

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 09:47

Yep Hazel I'm doing the exact same! I said if AF comes this month I would start taking a complete vitamin rather than just folic acid! There is a bit on this thread about the different types the ladies are taking!

And yes I am also tracking all symptoms etc! I think it'll make it easier as the months to recognise what's usual and what's not!!

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 09:48

Binky- did you go to the doctors about TTC or something totally different?

misskgb · 16/01/2014 09:49

I had bad back ache last night but obly came off af 3 days ago n not ov for another 4/5 days so basically told myself cramps and backache (for me) mean nothing n the only symptom I'm looking for is whether af arrives each month

I chose half a pint at the pub the other day instead of a pint n a mini bottle (glass) of wine which was low % so making some better choices but not cutting it out completely

Also trying to go for a walk each day, min 20 mins just to keep active before netball starts again

binkybunny · 16/01/2014 09:59

Helen- I went for a TTC check up as there are a few conditions that run in my family so had the appointment booked anyway for blood tests etc. Should have done that a few months ago but only realised I should have done last week! They are also testing to make sure I'm immune to Rubella so I can have the jab if needs be.

Hazelbrowneyes · 16/01/2014 10:17

Binky - I hate having blood taken too. A few years ago they hit my nerve and left me with severe nerve damage so I freak out every time now. My doctor and I have an agreement now - I'll have my blood taken but only at the surgery and if anything goes wrong, I can have an immediate appointment with him. He's so good, he writes a little note on my file to tell them to be gentle with me and he always arranges a thorough blood test so everything gets checked in one go.

Today though, I'm off to a clinic for a full check over - STIs, the lot. So I'll be having blood taken today. I've been putting off going for months but after seeing the nurse the other day, I've decided it's time to just do it! Pretty much certain it'll all come back clear but I'm worrying at the moment so it's just to put my mind at rest that there's nothing wrong.

I'm glad I tracked the dates of cramps, etc last month as I've had exactly the same on pretty much the same dates this month! Odd dates though: CD7, CD13, CD14 cramps then CD18 was the day I was keeled over and close to calling an out of hours surgery as I thought my insides were about to explode. AF started 13/14 days later so I'm assuming that was ovulation cramps Grin Hence, fairly sure I should ovulate tomorrow or Saturday!

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 10:19

Can I please join your thread? Thanks

My DH decided to tell me this week that he'd like another baby - I though we were done as we have 3 already.

No idea what my stats are I'm afraid. I started on the depo jab June 2012, had 3 shots in total but then had copper coil fitted june 2013. Coil fell out in September so we've been using condoms since.
Periods have not resumed as yet, hoping they do soon.

I started temping yesterday and have ordered some opk's to help me see what's going on.

CP xx

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 10:23

Ooh I'm off to buy my vitamins and such today too. Evening primrose oil (it helps apparently?). And folic acid.
What else do I need? Our youngest is 4 this year so it's been a while since I was in the ttc zone and frame of mind...

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 10:50

Hazel- your experience of having your blood taken sounds absolutely horrific! I really don't like having mine done but I've always convinced myself that nothing really goes wrong but after reading that I am now scared again!!

How did you go about booking yourself in? I would love to go and get some basic hormone blood tests etc but I don't think I would have any chance unless there was something wrong?!

Yeah I definitely think that tracking is the way forward!

Binky- hope everything is ok with your blood tests. Sure it will be but it'll put your mind at rest won't.

CherryPie- welcome!! Coil falling out sounds a bit scary!! I also read about evening primrose oil because good for CM but then when I looked at a bottle of them it said to consult your doctor if you were pregnant or trying to conceive so that put me off! Main thing is really folic acide but there are all round pregnancy vitamins that had a variety of stuff in! Can't believe you're trying for a 4th though, I don't even have 1 yet and I'm pretty sure 2 would be enough for me!!

Hazelbrowneyes · 16/01/2014 11:02

Oh Helen, don't be scared - it is so rare for it to happen, honestly! I've had loads of blood tests since and it's not happened again.

I haven't booked in - I'm going to the walk in clinic today. I'll be offered a HIV test which I'll take so that's how I know I'll be having bloods taken today! I'm not sure if they'll offer anything else, will wait and see! I'm definitely going to mention that we're TTC just incase they have any advice!

When are you all testing? I'm not going to test until after AF is due. A few reasons for this actually - I don't want to waste money on buying endless tests (I'll need to physically go out and buy a pregnancy test as I don't have any at home) & I don't want to be disappointed to see a BFN before AF is due. This has felt like a really long cycle though and I'm only CD16!

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 13:00

Thanks Helen Smile
I always said 2 would be plenty, then when dc2 was 2 I thought... I could do it all again. So we did :) I honestly thought that was it and we were done - despite being crazy broody myself I never mentioned it to my husband because he said we were done too!

Guess he just changed his mind haha! xx

mrsb87 · 16/01/2014 14:18

Hi guys, just managrd to catch up with the goings on but will probs do a proper reply later. Ugh today has been a stressful day at work. ..drama drama drama!

I'm not symptom spotting or anything but I have awful abdominal cramps today, abd all the way round my lower back, just like period pain. Buy I'm not due on for another week.....shhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone! !!

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 14:34

Oh and to answer your question - nah the coil falling out wasn't all that scary really. I half expected it the same thing happened to both my mum and sister. It was just there when I wiped after a wee (sorry if tmi, is there such a thing as tmi when ttc?). Flushed it away and thought "oh well" Grin

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 16:05

Hazel- well that has reassured me slightly then!! Ah right fair enough, I had all that done after I met my now husband. Let us know if they have any good advice though Smile

Well I was planning on doing first test on Sunday, not sure if what I'm experiencing today is start of AF though so obviously I may well not be testing this month depending on what happens!!

CherryPie- haha I can't believe the coil just dropped out. I thought it was well and truly wedged up there! And nah I don't think there is anything that's TMI when TTC. As soon as you start talking about CM there's no going back!!

Mrsb87- hope your rubbish day got better!! Symptoms sounds intriguing....!!

No sign of Kiki today, hope she's not abandoned us for newly pregnant people threads!!!Wink

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 16:24

Oh yes the CM. In having to refresh myself with all this, they say you never forget but I certainly have I think. Currently reading Taking Charge of your fertility. Had the book over 2 years I think and never actually read it!! It's very interesting.

Fingers crossed what you're experiencing is not the start of AF but rather something burrowing!! Smile
