Um hello, newbie, ttc, needing a place to talk to people :)

I've been reading the site for ages but decided to sign up as need an outlet and place to talk as ttc is quite secret and it's not something I have loads of people I could talk about it with. Plus I'm quite shy and my ovaries aren't something to bring up at social gatherings!
I'm 31, came off pill in October and me and boyfriend have been ttc since. I didn't know how long it would take to get back to normal as had been on pill for eleven years. Turns out it took four weeks, and am now on third AF since coming off, so annoyingly normal in one way! I'm getting my head round all this tracking stuff but don't want it all to get clinical with the fella as it takes the fun away!
So just wanted to say hi and hopefully share in people's stories. It's not all as straightforward as I always thought, and I'm always the one that would start panicking something was wrong with me. I'm pleased I found somewhere I can just write it down if nothing else.
So, hi, and hopefully can take some good advice away.

Is the book any good?

Yeah fingers crossed it is, but I have absolutely no idea how to tell the difference so I'm guessing I'll have to just wait it out and see what happens! Oh the fun of TTC!!

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 17:05

It seems good so far, only a couple of chapters in though x

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 17:06

Will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 17:10

Thanks and let us know if you come across anything useful, although you should be an expert with 3 kids! how long were you trying for with each of them?

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 18:04

Sorry for delays in my replies - I'm at work. :(

With dd I was on the pill and only 19 so very unexpected. Gave birth at 35wks age 20.

With ds1 we were trying for 2 months. Gave birth at 39+6 aged 21.

We then tried for dc3 and conceived on our first month but miscarried at 6 weeks :(

Didn't have time to really be sad as was pregnant with ds2 6 weeks later GrinGrin Gave birth at 36+1 aged 25

I'm 28 now, will be 29 in just over a fortnight.

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 18:05

And I'm still bumbling along - I'm nothing like an expert lol!!

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 18:12

Woah Cherry you're uber fertile!!!

CherryPie3 · 16/01/2014 18:23

I know looking at it written down like that it makes me realise how lucky I am!!

My cycle is all messed up now though, it will definitely not be a quick conception this time.

KikiThePea · 16/01/2014 18:46

Hello!

This is a rubbish (and slightly pointless message) as we've only just arrived in France, via Geneva, and I haven't had a chance to read any of today's messages properly!

I hope you're all well and I'll no doubt be back later - being all sneaky about prospective babies. My first job upon arrival at the chalet was to hide my vitamins!

mrsb87 · 16/01/2014 19:39

Ah kiki hope you have a wonderful time!!

Someone needs to slap me.. cramps all day so I googled...I know I know. I read that it can be due to implantation, especially if around 6dpo....which I am! Af not due til next saturday and rarely even get period pains at all let alone a whole week early

Somebody please slap me!

Helen87 · 16/01/2014 20:03

Mrsb87- I'll keep everything crossed for you. I'm 99.9% sure AF will be here for me in the next day or two so I'll be really pleased if we get another BFP this cycle!!!

Kiki- totally forgot you were skiing now, I thought it was tomorrow for some reason. Sorry for accusing you of cyber cheating!!

Cherry- yeah your stats are really promising for another quick conception!!

mrsb87 · 16/01/2014 20:34

Ah thanks helen I really appreciate that, fx that af doesnt rear her ugly head for you. I need to chill out for a week yet!!

Oklahoma · 16/01/2014 21:23

Aaaaargh! Been locked out of mumsnet for the last day and feel like my arm has been chopped off! Amazing how quickly you become addicted. Looks like I have loads to catch up on, you guys have been busy!

fatpony · 16/01/2014 22:18

Hi ladies hoping you can advise as all seem super knowledgeable (been working very long hours and don't seem to have much time to research this week), had AF starting 9th but very light (first proper AF after coming off pill), one of the apps forecasts I'll ovulate around 25th. So when is it
Best to properly try/DTD etc? Two days before? I can't try every day as have a medical problem (pain) so can only really try once every three or four days... Thanks

mrsb87 · 16/01/2014 22:36

I would say try 2 days before, 2 days before that and a day after ov. Its going to be hard to guess at this stage as your periods won't have settled yet. Good luck though!

CherryPie3 · 17/01/2014 07:18

Mrs - sounds promising!!! With implantation there's normally a tiny little brown bleed/spotting too a few days after - though not always. Something to watch for perhaps?

Helen - my past history says it should be a quick conception but I haven't had a period since June 2012... I went on depo provera that month and it stopped my cycle, had my last jab April last year and still no sign of my monthly. It's just a waiting game I guess. I really should probably see the nurse to explain and see if she has any suggestions to kick start me into action ha! Could be a very long time before we conceive again but no rush. Gives me chance to lose some weight - I've got lots to lose! I just got heavier with each child :(

CherryPie3 · 17/01/2014 07:19

Fatpony - are you able to buy any opk's to guide you? Other wise I think every couple of days should be spot on :)
Fingers crossed :)

CherryPie3 · 17/01/2014 07:22

Sorry just read the last bit of your post FP.

I think given your medical condition, opk's would be advisable to help you. Once every 3-4 days could be totally fine as little swimmers can live for 5 days in the right sort of cervical mucus.

Helen87 · 17/01/2014 08:01

Morning everyone. Well I'm definitely out this month. It's fair enough really and it makes me more excited for next cycle now I know things are a bit more normal and I'll know more what to look out for! DH is a bit disappointed but sometimes I think they think having super sperm is a bit of a competition!!

Cherry- does it usually take a long time for cycles to go back to normal after the injection? I can imagine three kids take their toll on your body. Might help your cycles if you start with the weight loss?

Sorry cant see or remember your name- but I everything seems to recommends every 2-3 days so if you can manage that you should be ok. And like Cherry says, use opks and watch out for symptoms.

mrsb87 · 17/01/2014 08:40

Oh sorry helen, fingers crossed for a better month next time x

Helen87 · 17/01/2014 08:57

Thanks mrsb87- fingers crossed for you this cycle. Definitely need some more bfps to cheer me up!!

mrsb87 · 17/01/2014 09:18

Oh helen I'm working on it! Feel like I'm wishing my week away. Earliest I can test is Tuesday but I want to try and wait til Friday or Saturday as I only have one test and I'm determined not to get anymore!

Oklahoma · 17/01/2014 09:18

Helen I think I will be joining you soon. All the usual symptoms are there and poas still coming up with bfn. Next month!!

Gennz · 17/01/2014 09:18

Hi all!

Cherry - I was on Depo for 5 years (20 - 25), then the pill (Yasmin) for 3, then copper coil for 4 (which I just got out). It took a year for my periods to regulate once I came off the pill. So give it a few more months, but if AF doesn't show up I would look into it.

well I am 4dpo (I think?) and SO tired! Had a couple of glasses of wine after work but kind of lost interest (MOST unlike me). Also water from the tap started to taste a bit odd.

I'm still convinced I'm talking myself into symptoms! One week til I can test...

Gennz · 17/01/2014 09:20

helen fx for next cycle! My DH is def getting competitive about having super sperm /eyeroll
