The smallprint –
Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 6+months (preferably 12+) NO instadiffers, must have a special pot and def no mention of baby dust or baby dancing UGH !!! Ooooh aren’t we strict!

The 17th thread, wow! This had better be it ladies, time to get off the Sofa of Pity onto the Pouffe of Positivity and beyond!

Revolting, I saw Dr after 9 months (re suspected thyroid issue) which turned into fertility tests for pcos.
I think you can go in for a chat about it and see if they put you forward for tests.
(Turned out there was a sperm issue so you never know)
I haven't read the whole thread so excuses if already said

RevoltingPeasant · 28/01/2014 23:01

Funky thanks that made me Grin my poor old avuncular GP! I don't think that's in the job description. Though I normally see a woman I like much better.

Barking that made perfect sense. I think I will talk to DH tonight about next cycle and turkey bastering. For next cycle.

The thing is, he feels got at. It is not exactly a disability but it is an ongoing health condition and he feels that I am blaming him. I'm not, I just want a result.

I will go to the GP in March after I give next cycle a chance. I am 99% sure this one hasn't worked so one more go and then GP.

RevoltingPeasant · 28/01/2014 23:03

Thanks naty, yeah my GP has said in the past she would consider me for tests so I might go and snivel in her last appt before tea time in the hope she'll fob me off with a referral.

BlindKitty · 29/01/2014 06:34

rp sorry to harp on about iui again (i'm not on commission, honest!) but surely it would be ideal for you? You could have it with or without drugs depending on whether you needed anything to stimulate your ov. Also, they'd pick the best of his sperms and insert them at exactly the right time so you'd have none of the old 'did we or didn't we' stresses

Bunnygirlie · 29/01/2014 08:39

Hi all, I am lurking but not much to say at the mo.

RP your situation must be so tough, hugs

Wishing you all a happy skip down the yellow brick road!!!

OP posts:
RevoltingPeasant · 29/01/2014 08:47

Kitty I have thought about that! Don't know if they would want to try something else instead. I think I might see about turkeying it first and then ask GP about assisted conception inc IUI.

I don't know what AC options there are apart from IUI!

FeatherFeather11 · 29/01/2014 09:02

Sorry so many are feeling down. Am in the same boat. Still no AF, turning 35 this week, and have this horrible negative feeling that it's never going to happen. So keeping my mouth shut till I'm in a more positive frame of mind. It's just so bloody unfair! There are bumps everywhere right now and and my ttc patience is really at a low.

IamKuma · 29/01/2014 12:59

Thankfully yesterday is over, I'm feeling better today, having more than 5 hours sleep is good. Smile

rp I would have thought IUI would be ideal for you, I'd certainly ask your gp about it. Even if you aren't eligible on the NHS at the moment it is certainly considerably cheaper than IVF if you go privately.

feather sorry you are feeling down. Things will get better.

AF not arrived so far today so fingers crossed for a slightly longer cycle this month....

barkingtreefrog · 29/01/2014 16:50

It does stink at the moment feather. I don't think the dark nights and relentless rain help either.

I got an email from a friend (older than me) yesterday excitedly announcing the birth of her grandchild. As if I didn't have enough friends already with bumps and babies, I'm now getting annoucements from grandparents as well!!! Angry Angry

And another stinker - there's a friend due on 1st February, pg colleague is due 1st March and another friend due 1st April!!! And that doesn't count the two whose due dates I don't know other than they're shortly after our wedding next month. It's like someone has opened the floodgates and they're popping out from every female around me - but not from me!!

Hmph.

But to end on a positive note I got a +opk today! Grin That's the first since the mc back in September. And it's earlier than I've ever had one before. I'm on cd15, so I might actually ovulate before cd19!! Maybe the acupuncture really is going to work a miracle Grin Grin Shock

RevoltingPeasant · 29/01/2014 17:11

Ooooh barking, get busy!

Also, think of it this way: these things come in waves. So grit your teeth and get through the next few weeks with your wedding to distract you, and then you'll be out the other side, it will be spring, and you will be a newlywed!

barkingtreefrog · 29/01/2014 17:22

rp signs of spring will definitely help! Smile

kuma any sign of af yet?

happylass · 29/01/2014 17:27

Barking I'm cd15 too. Cycle buds Smile

HampshireBlues · 29/01/2014 17:39

Hello All, sorry for not being on for a while- combination of being away with work, then being knackered and then being ill (in bed as I type!)

Bunny that is amazing news; Yay! Will continue to keep everything crossed for 6wk scan

Barking, I feel your pain - at the tender age of 35 I am too old for even one cycle on the NHS! As it currently stands, we have worked out that all in (and including freezing any for a yr) is about £6500 - I keep on telling DH to take a deep breath whenever we talk about it! Unfortunately the guidance provided by the government is just that, each PCT (or whatever they are called these days) can determine their own limits. You can try and challenge - we didn't because our consultant had tried it for a couple in similar circumstances to us a month or so before. On a good note though, good news on the +ve OPK! Acupuncture definitely sorted out my cycle and I was a lot more regular when I was having it.

RP i would definitely get down to the GP sooner rather than later, at the worst they will run some basic test and then get you on the radar.

BlueBirdy · 29/01/2014 17:40

Hi all, I too have been stuck in the way too comfy sofa of pity and have not been up to any sort of socialising - not even the online type with you lovely berries. Anyway, I'm dragging myself onto the YBR and will try and catch up as best I can...

Parsley, Pip, Funky, re being told be instadiffers to 'just relax and it will happen' you need to then ask them if they think that 'relaxing' will also then cure cancer? I mean it's an actual medical condition, what are they thinking fgs!?!

lol at Snowdog! I'm sure my dog gave me a funny look once when she happened upon the same sort of scene when she came upstairs for Sunday cuddles. Good news about your results, Snow, hope it's not too long before you get your appt.

RP I agree with what Barking said, but sounds like you have it sussed anyway. Don't for a minute think you are not as entitled to help from the FC just because you're all healthy. FX for this cycle anyway!

Happy it really suck about the long waiting list where you are! I know some areas won't fund an NHS IVF cycle if you have already had a private go, have you looked into that?

Boodle, Gill when do your cycles start?? Long or short protocols? Will have F&TX for both of you, and all the best for you, Pip!!

Feather hope you are feeling better and more positive soon Thanks

Tiger I also distract myself with DIY and making things, yet at the moment am crocheting a baby blanket for SIL! One day soon it will be for our own babies!

Barking oh my that sucks - grandmother announcements - yikes! And a bombardment of babies sounds so unfair...but really great news on your well behaved cycle! (all hail acupuncture!) And I'm feeling positive about you getting your sneaky BFP before IVF, anyway.

Hi Bunny!

BlueBirdy · 29/01/2014 17:41

HB good news on your cycle, too! Hope you feel better soon!

Pipbin · 29/01/2014 18:21

Hampshire. Have they refused you because you are 35? That's dreadful. I'm 38 and have had two cycles.

happylass · 29/01/2014 18:55

Yes Birdy our consultant told us last time that we're allowed one go privately whilst waiting on the NHS - think that's probably their way of trying to cut the waiting list!!
HB sorry to hear you're poorly, hope you feel better soon Flowers. I'm outraged that you're deemed too old at 35!! Here it used to be 38 and 9 months (random I know!!) but they've recently changed it so under 40s get two goes and those 40-42 get one go. Fx it'll change in your area soon too.

naty1 · 29/01/2014 18:59

That is awful i know they have to draw a line but 35? When other areas are increasing the age surely they need to focus on evening out across the country.
I wonder if people could argue they should be told the rules when they first go in re infertility so they can make choices and rush through testing etc.
I know in 2010/2011 i was never told any rules (even that i could only have 1 round.)

Gillster · 29/01/2014 21:14

Bluebirdy my IVF start is imminent. Just waiting for AF to show. Doing short protocol.

Decided to read the instructions in all my drug boxes this evening. Does anyone know why I'm supposed to take Metformin, given that it's generally given to people with type 2 diabetes?

naty1 · 29/01/2014 21:25

I assume you have pcos it does lower blood sugar. Should make eggs better. And helps with mc which otherwise can be more common if you have pcos

BoodleDoo · 29/01/2014 21:48

Blue - my IVF start has been put back a bit as I have to have an operation first. A bit pissed off to have to do yet more waiting, but I suppose it's for the best! Still, so many people on board the IVF train here, I feel a bit like I'm being left on the platform, waving sadly as they steam off into the distance!!!

Bunnygirlie · 29/01/2014 22:23

Thanks HB sorry to hear your news, that is so unfair

Hi blue

barking FX your cycle is behaving itself!

OP posts:
BlindKitty · 30/01/2014 06:17

hb that's ridiculous! Would moving to another area be feasible?

FeatherFeather11 · 30/01/2014 07:39

hb that's totally outrageous! 35!! Agree with Kitty - is it at all possible to move? Maybe you could rent your place out for a while and rent somewhere within a different catchment area?? Just appalling! 35!

Pipbin · 30/01/2014 07:50

I'm bleeding ladies.
It's only 8 days after the transfer.
