This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

village if it's any consolation (and I completely understand it's not!) Louise told me when I was doing SO that on average ladies fell pregnant between their 4th and 6th SO cycle. So ... next one's the charm? :) Also don't downplay the stress that 'expectation' plays on the body when you're BDing to order - how many times do we read stories of ladies who say they fell pregnant after they'd given up and stopped trying?

teamdozie · 19/02/2014 16:39

Hi everyone

Mezza welcome to the thread! I feel the why not approach is the best! I've had 6 mc in 2 years and I adopted that attitude! I would do anything! So maybe if tomorrow you et the lines take the steroids! I'm sure you could always constant Dr Shehata and he will see you even now!

Brown sorry to hear about your sisters worries! I'm not too familiar with the terminology so I'm not going to comment!

Village so sorry to hear of the BFN! Louise told me as well that it can be cycle 6! Bring on the next month!!

Had another scan today! And all is looking well at 11+3! 4 days ahead! Can't believe it! They had a good look around today and everything looks in place!! So 11 down 29 to go!
12 week scan next week! But until then j can breath! (For the next few hours anyway!)

Waves to all and sorry to whoever I've missed!

Xx

Wow Team, that's amazing! I'm so pleased for you.

For what it's worth I found a Doppler really helpful when pregnant with ds. It helped kept my anxiety down to a dull roar. But I know other people who have struggled to find a heartbeat sometimes - luckily I found it every time - and that has caused them a fair bit more anxiety.

Mezza, maybe that's a good point - see if you can make an appointment at the Miscarriage Clinic? Then at least you will be under the advice of an expert in the field. They might recommend other stuff like intralipids too.

VillageMum · 19/02/2014 19:37

Ari thanks - that actually is consolation! I love statistics. I will lie back and think 'cycles 4 to 6, yes, yes!!' next time... (and I'm only partly joking)Smile

Team your news just gets better and better - a big strong baby, how fantastic!

willitbe · 19/02/2014 19:57

Team - such good news on another good scan.

Village - yep next time.

My 12 week scan was booked for next Friday, but a lessening of the nausea, and some stomach cramps made me panic this week, and I begged for an earlier appointment, so I have scan tomorrow morning. I hope that all is well still. I am very nervous about it. But what will be, will be.....!!!!

suemays · 19/02/2014 22:25

Congrats to all those with good scan news.

Brown has your sister has managed to get some more info on what is happening and why so soon? I think even if your FSH was 56, you would still be aware of ovulation and TTC just in case (I know I would).

Village I hope that you get lucky on your next round - no pressure!!!

brownstag · 20/02/2014 08:21

Wonderful news Team!
Good luck tomorrow, Willit. I'm sure lessening of nausea at this point is quite normal.
Village, it was cycle 5 for me; yes, it was a Down's pregnancy but no reason why your cycle 4 or 5 egg shouldn't be perfect. It is so difficult to be patient though.
Sue, strictly speaking my sister has to wait 6 weeks to retest but she's going to do it sooner. She also just ordered her AMH kit. Her LH was also high (33), her oestrogen low (50) and testosterone low normal, so it all fits. In fact on the test results sheet it said that 56 is considered post-menopausal, not just perimenopausal.
The complicating factor is that she was on the progesterone-only-pill when she tested, day 19. But having done our research, it seems that if that had affected FSH at all, it would have lowered it, as pills usually work by stopping production of FSH, which in turns prevents the other stages of the cycle. However, the POP is slightly different, in that it only inconsistently prevents ovulation, relying more on the effects on cervical mucous for its contraceptive effect. So there is the vaguest possibility that she had ovulated, which would have meant a peak in both FSH and LH at around day 19, but then that doesn't explain the low oestrogen. Or the fact that she's had about 3 or 4 hours sleep a night for 3 weeks because of the hot sweats, the dry skin, PMT symptoms, dry eyes, etc.
I think there's still a possibility that it's all a horrible mistake, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Thank you Free, Village ,Willit Brown

willit hope today goes well! I'm sure it will! Stay positive!

Bad news, heartbeat stopped and no growth. Now stopping my med's.

bakingtins · 20/02/2014 10:22

willit that is terrible. I'm so sorry to hear that. Sad

Mezzaluna · 20/02/2014 10:54

So very sorry to hear that Willitbe :(

Villagemum I think you are incredibly lucky to fall so quickly, even though I know it`s excruciating however slowly or quickly it is. Hope it will happen for you soon, best of luck.
Our longest time to conceive was 17 months, before my most recent loss. Having another miscarriage on top of that just felt like someone was taking the piss - couldn't believe that our luck was that bad.

So sorry to hear about your sister Brownstag, hope she is doing ok. Must be such a shock.

Thanks for your messages ladies. things not going so well today, so will just have to wait and see. Got another two very faint lines this morning, superdrug and CB, but have been tossing and turning all night, and feel horribly ill. My whole body is aching and I have unusually high fever for me (well over 38, that doesn't even happen when I have the flu). Still unsure about what to do drug wise, feels like things are going wrong already tbh. Crawling back to bed now... :(

VillageMum · 20/02/2014 11:34

willit my heart goes out to you. I am thinking of you xx

teamdozie · 20/02/2014 11:38

Willit I'm so sorry to hear your bad news!
Sending you lots of hugs!

mezza so sorry you're not feeling well on top of everything else. Hope your temperature goes down soon!

brown thanks, it really helps to hear that others have conceived in later cycles. I'm so sorry that pregnancy didn't work out for you. I'm keenly aware of the risks at my age - but am going ahead nonetheless. Madness, maybe.

Sue thanks! So far I'm still feeling remarkably unpressurised by the whole ttc/SO thing. I feel if we do manage to have another child then it will be the most incredible, staggering bonus, and if we don't... c'est la vie. Hope you are doing ok?

hopefulfor2nd · 20/02/2014 13:01

Hi everyone, I've been lurking again after being a regular poster a couple of years ago. I recognise a few names which is reassuring, knowing what we've all been through together.
Firstly, thoughts are with you Willit.
With my husband and I talking about trying for a third child it's really brought back to me how each and every mc felt and the huge emotional as well as physical loss.
Secondly, I'm wondering if there's anyone on here who's tried for a second with mr Shehata? Any advice?
I'm looking forward to getting back involved with people who know and understand what we're (unfortunately) going through, giving support and advice and simply what can be a chance to write/say what we need to safely x

MrsPixieMoo · 20/02/2014 14:22

Willit hugs, I'm so sorry for your loss x

brownstag · 20/02/2014 14:30

Willit, that's so awful. I'm so very sorry. Sadly it looks like your gut instinct was right. xx

Hopeful, we are currently trying for a second with Mr S - although I haven't seen him since April. Can't really give you any advice, as we're not pursuing it very aggressively any more. I take the pred each month but that's about it. Haven't had any more tests and am not currently doing superovulation but I may do next month.
I'm clinging to the hope that my DHEA, coenzyme q10 and folic acid cocktail will achieve a natural pregnancy and that the pred can stick it in place!
So are you trying for a third or second? Confused

Tumtimes1 · 20/02/2014 14:52

willit i am so sorry to read this news. This has really shocked me, I am gutted for you. And you only had a scan like 1.5 weeks ago didn't you. Truly this is awful news and I am thinking of you at this horrible time. We are all here if you need to talk. xxx

brownstag · 20/02/2014 15:10

Mezza, I had a horrid virus early on in pregnancy and was convinced it must be doing something awful to the baby but the doctor said it should have no effect.
But if it's immune-related to the pregnancy, all the more reason to take the pred?

teamdozie · 20/02/2014 17:28

Hello!

Quick question! Had a call from the hospital today and have been told I have a "minor" urinary tract infection and have to take antibiotics. Has anyone taken amoxicillin whilst on prendisolone, hydroxy etc? Louise is on AL and I can't get hold of anyone in the office. Will be trying again tomorrow!

Hi everyone!
Yes, looking to try for a third child.
Short history is
1 mc
Our 1st child followed
On trying for a second, 5 early mc in a year then fell preg with our second on our first cycle with shehata.
My username was created within that time, ought to look to update.
Thanks for your info Brown, did you have to go back and get retested? I'm wondering if NK levels go up after a pregnancy even with the steroids.

no experience with antibiotics, sorry

Off to look to change my name! X

hopefulfor3rd · 20/02/2014 18:12

Ok, all changed! Testing it out! My name is hopefulfor3rd and I'm tentively poking my toe back in the water as my husband and I are very confident we would like to try for a third child. With our last we saw mr Shehata in Epsom.

freelancegirl · 20/02/2014 21:04

Willit, so so sorry to hear that. How far were you along this time and what protocol had your doctor put you on? Have you had any other tests? I know you're in a different country and might not have the same sort of access. Once again, really devastated for you.

Great to see you back Hopeful! How old is your Pred baby now? It doesn't seem any time at all since you were here.

I'm back on Pred too but no luck so far. My ds is 19 months.

willitbe · 20/02/2014 21:37

Hi freelance, today is 10+6, baby was measuring about 8+5, sac measuring 9 weeks. Previously I have only had the foetus reach around 7 weeks, losing heartbeat. Progesterone delays miscarriage for me. So stopping after today will hopefully mean my body will do what it needs to next week. I have had most of the regular tests, plus TEG test at St. Mary's. I have not had Chicago or NKCell testing. At my age, it is all put down to dodgy eggs!!! This time I was on aspirin, heparin, progesterone and 20mg pred. This is first time I was on pred from BFP and the furthest any of my m/c's have reached. Previously pred messed up my cycle so stopped trying with it.

Anyway we had stopped ttc, and this little surprise just stayed for a shorter while than we would have hoped. Now I have to get my head into a sensible space again, as the pregnancy has made me want to ttc again, despite all logic against it.

Are you ttc again now?

BellyD · 20/02/2014 22:00

Willit so very sorry to hear of your loss. It is just so unfair.
