This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Mrs Pixie, as a reformed insomniac, my advice would be to stay in bed and think of nothing, just relax. The problem with any kind of physically induced insomnia is that it can quickly become psychological. So you may wake up at 4am and think, 'Oh no, I've woken up at 4am again!! This dratted prednisolone!' and of course that naturally makes you more alert and you get frustrated. Whereas a good sleeper might wake up at 4am, think nothing about it at all, and go back to sleep. And possibly not even remember in the morning. Most people do wake up in the night briefly, maybe several times. So my advice would be to do and think nothing about it; completely ignore it. You slept well before and in no time you will again.
But also, pred does hang about a bit, so the higher dose is probably still in your system to some extent.

brownstag · 12/02/2014 09:32

And I notice you posted at 4.54. Don't even look at the time if you wake up. With good sleep, less is always more.

VillageMum · 12/02/2014 09:45

Hi Team I'm ok thanks, more importantly how are you doing? Hope you're still feeling reassured from the last scan!

Tanny hope all is well.

MrsPixieMoo · 12/02/2014 10:18

Thanks Brown, it's good to know and I'm pleased you are reformed!

Mel3062 · 12/02/2014 12:23

Umm I'm terrible too and just started 40 mg joy!! I've improved though as I force myself back to sleep rather than work or do emails! It's a bad routine of sleep early wake early but then I'm a morning person.. To some extent!!

teamdozie · 12/02/2014 14:27

Hi everyone

MrsP I can't help you with the waking up early! I'm in the same boat as you! Lol! But I am in bed by 7.30 most nights!!

Village I'm good thanx had a scan today and all is looking good for 10 weeks! I'm actually starting to let my self accept that this is going to happen!

I hope no one is flooded!

Xx

bakingtins · 12/02/2014 16:16

MrsP I had terrible insomnia on the pred and it did improve once I was off it. Hope that's the same for you.

team great news. Another milestone ticked off!

I had 24 week MW appointment today and all looking good. 4 weeks until my growth scan but bump is measuring ok, nice strong HB and plenty of kicks.

ac73 · 12/02/2014 17:01

Hello to all,

My history is long and sad, won't bore you with it now but I need some thoughts. We are going to use our last frozen embryo soon. I have a treatment plan from Prof. Q which involves progesterone, clexane and predisilone but wondering whether intralipids/humira are a better option? Consultant at Guys was very anti the intralipids/humira. Grateful for any advice. Xxx

freelancegirl · 12/02/2014 17:30

Wow more great scan news for Team and Baking! 10 and 24 weeks are great milestones.

AC welcome to the thread, so sorry for what you've been through. I don't know enough about Clexane and Humira but I know some of the others do. All I know is I would want everything thrown at it. What dosage of Prednisolone have they put you on? If you have very high nkc I know Mr S outs people on a higher dose of 40mg. He is also trialling a lot of people on something called hydroxychloroquine and having some good success with that. All things to consider.

Mel3062 · 12/02/2014 18:31

Wow I love my doctors they've taken dr g pres and are getting me it!! He said I've to be aware it's not licensed but has to go on the experts advice!! Neopegen yey!!
So many scan successes- lovely
Ac it's such a struggle and unfair :( I've found that I have to explore whatever avenues as I would regret it and in the end hoping something works and if not I know I tried all I could, it's ment seeing many consultants and confiding myself abit. Sadly it seems you have to do the research yourself but we are all a supportive team on here x

arghhelpme · 12/02/2014 20:37

Hi, am new to this thread. I was prescribed predisolone 3 weeks ago for severe eczema. Af was due today but have no sign of it coming. Is 30mg for 3 weeks enough to mess my cycle up? I am constantly needing to pee as well but i'm guessing that could just be one of the side effects of pred?? Been ttc for the last 3 months. Keep getting bfn.

freelancegirl · 12/02/2014 22:26

Hi there! Welcome to the thread. Here we are all actively taking Prednisolone to have a healthy pregnancy after recurrent miscarriage, research having shown that this can help lower an autoimmune response that might be killing off a baby in the early stages. It has been known for presnisolone to mess with people's cycles but this seems to be relatively rare considering we are actually taking it to help us keep a pregnancy. In reality 3 months is not a huge amount of time to be TTC and your period being a day late could be down to many things, but I know how frustrating it can be of course. I'm sure it will turn up! But if you have ongoing problems mention to your doctor that you are TTC and have concerns. Good luck with it!

bakingtins · 13/02/2014 07:27

ac73 nice to see you here. I've had success on Prof Q's protocol, but can understand your need to throw everything at your remaining embi. All this field of research is so early on I don't think the evidence is there either way for what works best. Does your consultant at Guys support you using Prof Q's protocol?

ac73 · 13/02/2014 13:01

Thanks Baking. Whilst I don't think Guys are 100% supportive of Prof Q's protocol they are happy to go along with it. So going to stick with Prof Q. Dreading it all already :( - not very positive I know but been here too many times before. Waves to all. Xxx

brownstag · 14/02/2014 09:27

Great news, Baking and Team, and welcome ac73 and argh.

willitbe · 14/02/2014 11:40

Just a quick post to say, great to hear good updates from team and baking.

Hi to new folk.

I am having a struggle with keeping a positive mental attitude today, need to go distract myself with something.

teamdozie · 14/02/2014 14:22

Baking and Team, what fab news for you both! Team how exciting to have got to the maternity jeans and booking-in stage! Yay!

Hello to ac and argh too.

Waves to everyone.

Tumtimes1 · 14/02/2014 17:54

That is fantastic news baking and team im so happy for you both.

I have also just had a scan measuring 9w3d which i cannot believe. I cant believe it - never ever got this far in any pregnancy.

The consultant has said to stay on clexane to 14 weeks.
And given me extra 5mg pred to wein me off from 12 weeks.

VillageMum · 14/02/2014 18:44

That's WONDERFUL, Tum! A great milestone.

Mel3062 · 15/02/2014 07:02

As super news x

teamdozie · 15/02/2014 07:55

Tum that's brilliant news!

Village thank you!

A quick question. Does anyone else look more pregnant than they are because if the drugs? Or have you looked bigger? I'm looking more like 5 months gone than nearly 3!

Xx

OP posts:
brownstag · 16/02/2014 11:44

Tum, I'm so pleased for you.
Team, yes, definitely, enormous. People were asking me well before my 12-week scan.

bakingtins · 16/02/2014 18:53

tum that is fantastic news, so pleased for you!

team I put on lots of weight in first trim on the steroids, even though I was careful what I ate. It's been better since I stopped them though, hoping not to put more than a couple of stone on over the whole pregnancy as it was hard enough losing it last time and can't imagine it will be any easier at nearly 40. Small price to pay though.... Good luck with booking in.

VillageMum · 16/02/2014 19:06

Team I pile on the weight anyway in pregnancy... my normal weight is a fairly middling 57kg but with DD I gained a whopping 24kgs. They all fell off afterwards! Enjoy that cake! Smile
