Evaporation line or BFP?????

Ive been trying to conceive for many years and for the first time this last month I used the cheap ovulation predictor kits. They amazingly worked as I thought nothing would show up but a very faint line showed up at the start of ovulation which I confirmed with a more expensive brand that same day. Me and the partner only managed to DTD twice during that period.

I am 5 days before the start of AF and have bought the same cheap pregnancy tests and I have just tested today (not with FMU) and the result within 1 minute was a definite negative but going back to the test after 9 minutes there was a very very faint line (squint through narrow eyes and you may see it!) but there was a very pale line which over time has become darker.

I am convinced it is an evaporation line as I have been trying for 5 years and am almost giving up and am just about to go down the ivf route.

Does anyone have any experience of cheap pregnancy tests and do they more often than the branded ones come up with this evopration line?
I think I am just driving myself crazy with this as the instructions on the packet say DEFINITELY do not read the test after 10 minutes which is what Im doing but I guess Im just hoping for a miracle and would be more ecstatic than winning the lottery to get a BFP

Any advice greatly appreciated x

thanks allchat - yes the digi is firmly fixed for the weekend and not a minute before - I wil distract myself with other things in my big attempt to stay focused and not cave in - hope I can put it in to practice :-)

Im not sure what I did differently tillyann and why it worked this month but Ive been trying to be a bit more relaxed as I was driving the poor DH demented each month it wasn't happening and think that wasn't helping so just tried to take a more relaxed approach this month

Also one tip which I did do this month which I haven't done before is after having DTD stay in bed as long as possible lying down - know this sounds pretty simple but it may have made a difference and was a great excuse to stay resting in bed longer - not sure if this was the definitive thing that worked but it certainly wouldnt hurt and those extra hours in bed resting is sure to help you feel relaxed :-)

I read all about supplements to take to improve conception chances and I did try some of them but my goodness me I just couldn't get on with any of them and just ended up taking plain old folic acid - the other supplements that I had read about and tried made me feel so incredibly ill and just like I was about to pass out with dizziness and extreme headahes that I stopped them pretty quick!

I wish you the very best of luck tillyann and do hope it will be your turn next - My chances were so incredibly low I really had given up so I do hope this has given some hope to you

will update you with the digi xx

Have you told DH or waiting for digi? I think when it finally happens for me I think my DH will be more relieved that he doesn't have to perform on request rather than the prospect of the baby!!! X

kittykatsforever · 27/11/2013 17:55

Congratulations blue skies, I'm betting you don't make it till the weekend Wink
FYI I actually find the cheepies far less sensitive then frer and digis, I got a positive digi when I only had a hcg blood test of 5 so they are much more sensitive then the packaging says, the lines on the cheepies at that point weren't there or the real hold to the light things things

blueskies19 · 27/11/2013 18:25

yes I have told the DH allchat - loved your comment :-) I think my DH can DEFINITELY relate to that one!! Best of luck to you and do hope it works out really well for you

thanks for your kind words Rax - I am indeed pre AF so still very early so I think thats good advice

many thanks kitty - I will see how I get on but certainly my willpower has never been the strongest - when I know theres chocolate in the cupboard it certainly doesn't stay there for long and I think the digi will be a far greater pull than chocolate (which is certainly saying something!) but the the fact that it is still so very early and the dread of doing the test are both making me hold off for the moment and so Im pleased to say my will power has lasted, at least for the last few hours :-)

its so funny how these tests seem to work differently on everyone - Im hoping that in the future there will be a much less stressful thing than these POAS which certainly add to the worry of it all for complete addicts like myself - some clever cloggs will hopefully develop a much more sophisticated and less stressful device!

as soon as Ive done the digi I will update xx

Thank you for you reply blueskies, I'm coming up to my 3rd year ttc and can relate to everything you've said. Im on a cocktail of supplements which make me feel yuck and am so fed up of it all! I may just ditch them all.
I'm so pleased for you, wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy. Thanks

kthop83 · 27/11/2013 20:42

Hi all just wanted to tell you all my story.I began testing with ic two days before af was due bnf.I tested everyday until i was 2 days late and still bfn.Today 2dpo i searched the internet about these so called early detection cheap tests and read lots of bad reviews so went out to chemist and bought a lloyds own brand poas test for £6 and guess what...yup bfp instantly.tried ic again later and still negative so they are definately not as sensitive as they claim.Hope this helps.Havent even told dh yet im keeping it to myself for a couple hours lol

kthop83 · 27/11/2013 20:42

sorry not 2dpo i meant 2 days after af due

blueskies19 · 28/11/2013 08:35

My thoughts are with you tillyann - I was ttc for far too many years to mention and was just on the point of giving up

Re the supplements for me personally they made me feel more ill than Ive felt in a long time which is probably just my rubbish body not being able to process them - they were nothing major and I so wanted to keep going with them hearing that they worked so well for others but I guess what this whole process has shown me is that everyone's unique and what works well for one may not work for another. Hang in there and I do so hope its your turn next

thanks for your story kthop - its so interesting how everyone reacts differently to these IC HPT - personally I think they have given me more grief and stress than anything as when yr ttc you need to have a definite answer not a vague wafty line that you can't interpret and which only leaves one stressing more - grrr to the IC ones!

Pleased you got your bfp - great news

I will be doing the digi this weekend - I'm petrified already and not sure if I really want to as Im so anxious given my last experiences but will update when I get the courage to do it xx

!!!!!!! Congratulations!

blueskies19 · 30/11/2013 12:02

thanks so much everyone :)

hi littletulip - yes of course - I was rarely ovulating from the tests they were doing monthly and had a low AMH test result which I think shows reduced ovarian reserve and the Dhs test came back with low motility and keying in our statistics and rather old age for us both came up with about 4% chance apparently :( Not quite sure whether these percentage things work - it certainly made both of us feel like giving up but Im so glad we didn't :)
