Hi everyone,

Im new on here and am booked in to have my coil removed next wed as me and my hubby plan to start ttc our first child together (i have 2 from a previous relationship and he has none).

I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience with coils - how long did it take for your first af after it was removed? How long did it take to get pregnant? Or are u trying now?

As my first 2 pregnancies happened by accident due to missing a pill a few times, in the back of my mind im thinking i should get pregnant pretty quickly but im tying my hardest to push this thought away as it could take months and months and u just dont know. Im just sp excited to get this thing out and start on our ttc journey together :-)

Well some good news! I actually got my bfp yesterday on both a morrisons own brand test and a clear blue digital which said i was 1-2 weeks pregnant.

Had a slight mental breakdown yesterday convinced id done the wrong thing but today things seem a bit more sunk in! Havnt told DH yet though, i need a few days to process it before i do and plan to tell him at the weekend and make it special Smile

Good luck and how did the removal go?

Congratulations mummy Smile

Congratulations Mummyinpink. That is great news. When did you actually get your coil removed? Which type of coil did you have?

I was meant to get mine out early December but then had to cancel appointment Sad. But re-arranged and had it out last Friday (3rd). It was completely painless and I didn't even have a withdrawal bleed which I was expecting.

I had the non-hormonal coil so hoping I see no real change in cycle length. I should be due on around 11th January so once that's out the way we can start the first ttc cycle Grin.

Kato how did your removal go?

thanks popsicle and writerwannabe - even though this is my third pregnancy i still feel totally scared and daunted at the prospect of doing it all over again, my second had terrible colic for weeks which nearly sent me over the edge and im so scared of it happening again.

My coil came out on the 27th of november. had a slight bleed 3 days after (red blood for a few hours) then a week after that i had what i think was a 2-3 day period, very very light and wasnt even sure if it was a period but it must have been. so i should be 4wks+3 now if that was my AF.

I had the mirena coil and didnt get period at all a month or so after id had it, im very aware this could end in a mc due to my lining being thin as iv only had one very light AF since removal but we shall see!

I am hesitant about telling my dh as if it does end in mc i know he will blame the coil as he never wanted me to get it in the first place as he was convinced it would affect me having kids in the future. if you had it out the 3rd, do you know when you ovulated? could there be any chance you conceived as soon as it was removed?!

Popsicle30 · 08/01/2014 10:20

I have everything crossed for you Mummyinpink. There are lots of ladies who have gotten pregnant after the mirena with no issues but I have everything crossed. I'm sure when you tell DH at the weekend it'll be very exciting then too Smile.

I'm not 100% when I ovulated. I have two phone Apps (MyDays and FF) and one said I was ovulating around the 27th Dec and the other the 31st! So I expect the 3rd was a bit too late so i'm just waiting on my period so we can crack on with trying for the first cycle Grin.

The nurse did say there is always a chance of conception after removal but it will just depend on where I was in the cycle. If I am then i'd be very happy but not expecting it.

Mummyinpink1289 · 08/01/2014 10:39

well fingers crossed for you too, it seems i ovulated quite late as my light af started on the 8th of dec and i used pregnancy tests almost every day and never got a positive from a clear blue early test until yesterday which is weird. i expected my next af on the 4th of Jan and got negative tests that day. due to never having a period with the coil in and always been on the pill before that i have no clue of my natural cycle length and guess ill never find out now either! lol.

Huge congratulations ladies! Really glad I updated now! Fingers crossed for healthy incident-free pregnancies for you both!

As you know I had to be referred to Gyn as my strings were missing, but he managed to pop it out no problem! No pain, just a very queer feeling!

I asked about fertility etc and he said 'try tomorrow, go for it!' Which I've not told DH as he'd faint - I've told him it'll take 'a while'

I also had zero periods after about a month of insertion, so who knows?

Popsicle30 · 08/01/2014 11:28

Good luck KatoPotato!

Mummyinpink1289 · 08/01/2014 15:47

haha yes, in 5 weeks time this could be you! i wish i could hold out telling my DH till around 8 weeks as im worried about the risk of mc due to conveiving so quickly. i know itl really knock him sideways if we lose it and he will assume the worst that we will never have a baby etc.

Good luck anyway and keep us updated!
