Donor IUI?

Hello! Just looking for a group/quiche to join but not really sure where I fit it.

I'm intending to go it alone and have Donor Insemination by IUI starting in January providing my investigations all come back clear.

Any one else in the same boat, or has done it alone in the past?

Oh Kwick, I'm sorry you don't feel very well. There's so much going around at the minute, and the cold weather doesn't help - and it's even worse when you've not got anything to help ease your pain! You're flying home today aren't you? Hopefully you start to feel a bit better as the day goes on.

That's strange, I've never heard of the test date being before AF date before. Mind, I've never spoken to any other ladies about going through treatment - I suppose it's quite common when your medication is making you ovulate earlier into your cycle. Bet this 2ww has killed you!

Id definitely change your surgeries. It's worth travelling that extra bit further to get proper care - especially for baby when you fall pregnant. I rang my GP surgery and he's not in today, just like I suspected. I'll go tomorrow, see if I can get my bloods done. We're quite lucky - we're not allowed to pre-book appointments unless the dr has specifically asked, and if you ring up on the day you can, 9 times out of 10, get a same day appointment.

Have a good day Kwick and safe journey home Smile x

Ladies, upon talking to my cousin, she suggested going to the sexual health clinic to get my bloods for HIV, HEP B & C done. That'll save me asking the doctor for too many as he may be reluctant - it'll only be the rubella one I need to get from the doctors. I already had a chlamydia test done in Nov last year after I had a UTI which came back clear so don't need to worry about that :)

I don't know whether either of you would know, but do sexual health clinics do HEP B & C? I can always ask I suppose but just wanted to ask you guys first. X

CautionHormone · 14/01/2016 18:05

Hope you've both had a lovely day TayDex & Kwick!

CautionHormone · 14/01/2016 18:10

Ps, I have my GP appointment today - I'm so scared! I'm worried he'll turn me down and laugh in my face for the blood tests, purely on the fact of my age. He knows everything I've been through, so hopefully my circumstancs will make sense to him as to why I want to do it solo & now... Any wise words of advice ladies?

pickle162 · 14/01/2016 19:03

Sorry your feeling poorly kwick.keeping everything crossed for the weekend testing
Sorry this cycle didn't work out taydex, hope next cycle isn't missed
X

Kwick709 · 14/01/2016 19:55

caution i hope your gp appt went well.
I am now home sweet home - desperately trying to get warm... Feet are like ice 😢

I am feeling a bit better - just so glad to be able to sleep in my own bed tonight.

pickle how you doing? Thanks so much for your best wishes 💜

CautionHormone · 14/01/2016 20:48

Not got a GP appointment til tomorrow Kwick - my cousin mentioned our local sexual health clinic doing the bloods I need (HIV, Hepatitis etc) so may as well just go there! Going to book an appointment tomorrow for Monday at the sexual health clinic with my cousin as I need to take her anyway, so I may as well go along and see if they can do my bloods there! If not it'll be GP on Tuesday - either way I WILL get my bloods done next week so I can book my initial appointments at CARE!

Oh no :( it's freezing at the minute, Im finding night times brutally cold. Glad you're feeling a bit better - there's nothing like sleeping in your own bed! Star

When're you testing Kwick? I'm so anxiously excited for you!

CautionHormone · 15/01/2016 05:49

It's gone a bit quiet on here!

Hope you're both okay TayDex & Kwick. Flowers

CautionHormone · 15/01/2016 15:54

Have you tested yet Kwick? Or are you holding out? Wink

Kwick709 · 15/01/2016 19:00

What a day!!! Non-stop at work as usual and now mega traffic :(
My cold is now a really bad cough... Still feeling sorry for myself.
I may have done a sneeky test this morning nothing else to report.

caution good luck with freebie tests.
I am freezing too - but because just waited ages for bus. My flat was artic last night when I got home. Since 2ww started am sleeping (when at home) with a hot seed bottle at my feet.

CautionHormone · 15/01/2016 20:39

You're allowed to feel sorry for yourself when you're poorly Star make sure you look after yourself!!

Thank you. I'm really anxious to get them done - no idea why!
I don't blame you, it's like 2 degree at night - that's freezing!

Let us know when you've tested on the day you're meant too? :)

Kwick709 · 16/01/2016 05:46

Oops forgot to keep fmu! Now cannot get back to sleep due to raging cough!

CautionHormone · 16/01/2016 11:20

Oh no! There's always tomorrow. Wouldn't it still be okay if you did like a 4-6 hour hold today?

Bless your heart :( sleep propped up on more pillows if you can x

CautionHormone · 16/01/2016 11:20

Hope you managed to get back to sleep Kwick x

pickle162 · 16/01/2016 11:30

Hey
Yeh I'm ok thanks kwick, booked in to have an assessment for surgery on my leg so delaying savings again but hopefully by May I'll be able to save about £800-1000 per month and get going ASAP.
Bit annoyed as id sold some sofas on eBay and the person who bid has gone awol, hasn't paid, isn't replying to emails grrrr!! So think I need to put back on eBay and hope I get another buyer! Just can't be arsed with all the faff.
Hope everyone ok.
Good luck with 2ww test x

CautionHormone · 16/01/2016 11:52

Sorry to hear about you needing surgery pickle - hope you have a speedy recovery.

Oh eBay buyers do my head in sometimes... They can be so haphazard! Hope you find a new buyer soon, it can be so stressful!

Kwick709 · 16/01/2016 12:09

pickle whats up with your leg? Hope you are okay? Is it painful?

I "sold" some bedding on ebay last year and then the buyer went awol... In the end I filed an ebay complaint. The buyer eventually contacted me to say their husband did not allow them to buy used sheets! I relisted them and they sold but it was very annoying!

I did not get back to sleep but it is okay - I got caught up on some TV whilst hacking out a lung!

Even though Inhave just got a huge tax bill and need to save all my pennies for ivf I have decided to treat myself to an eyebrow & eyelash dye, eyebrow shape and maybe some upper lip work too... Am sick of looking like a hermit Blush

Oh yeah and am also going to have a splurge in Boots....!

CautionHormone · 16/01/2016 13:36

Ah no bless you :( waking up that early on a weekend is always gutting!!!

Haha why not! Lady after my own heart... There's nothing wrong with a bit of self pampering now and then, go out and enjoy it! You deserve to have something nice x

taydex · 16/01/2016 19:29

Good evening ladies,

Gosh, you've been busy on here since I was last on a day or two ago. Lets see how well I can respond on my ipad... I always struggle on my phone so hopefully this is easier.

Caution - Great news about the CARE clinic %s and how nice they've been on email. Sounds like you've found your clinic! I'd suggest maybe going to an open evening at both if you can but its up to you of course. Did you manage to get a GP appointment? Sorry, I dont know about tests you can get done at sexual health clinics.

Kwik - I'll take a look at your clinic's success rates too when I have a minute. Will ping you another message to let you know what I find. How are you feeling now? Are you still poorly? I was ill with cold the first week of the new year and didnt enjoy only being allowed limited medication. I often had my test date before AF due date too. The medication can change the length of your cycles. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious here but what does FMU mean? And what's the 4-6 hour hold? Also, did you do the test yet? Fingers still crossed x

Pickle - Thanks for the message. How are you doing? What a pain with the ebay stuff. Grr. I've recently sold stuff through local Facebook selling groups instead and found more success (and no fees). Could be worth giving that a try? Good luck with the surgery.

Take care ladies and keep warm in this horrible weather.

Right, I must go, the curry's just arrived.

have a lovely weekend all.

TD x

taydex · 16/01/2016 20:31

Hi Kwik,

Just looked up CRGH on the HFEA website and come up with the following (based on age 40-42, did I get that right?):

Donor Insemination
Medicated 0 out of 5 successes (0-65%)
Non-medicated 2 out of 25 (1-38%)

IUI
Medicated 5 out of 72 (0-71%)
Non-medicated 0 out of 6 (2-22%)

IVF
22 out of 95 (13-39%)

Hope that helps. Not due to small numbers of IUI the figures probably aren't massively accurate but that's the same for all clinics I've looked at.

Let me know if you need anything else.

TD x

pickle162 · 16/01/2016 20:51

Hey all,

I've emailed the stupid eBay woman but getting nothing back.just want it cancelled but going to speak to eBay tomorrow as don't want to end up having to pay any fees or anything.
Taydex-will definitely try the Facebook selling group, thanks.have put on preloved and gumtree already
Sorry your still feeling rough kwick :(

Legs more a cosmetic thing, I have this 5cm diameter area of scar on my thigh from a car crash a few years back but I can get this area removed and altho I'll still have a scar it should just be one line from surgery rather than this huge area which makes me very self conscious so after 8 years just want it sorted

CautionHormone · 16/01/2016 22:06

Hi there TayDex - so good to have you back! :)

I have found my clinic indeed! I'm keeping an open mind though and will go to open evenings at both. Got confirmation back yesterday that I was booked onto the open evening on 1st Feb - I keep getting butterflies whenever I think about it! Me and Mum went to Hobbycraft today because we both wanted to start cross stitching again (sad I know - but we love it and haven't done it for about a year and a half!) and I picked one where there's animals in a train, and you put baby's name in a cloud along with the time of birth and birth weight in another. Mum chose it for me - said we could frame it afterwards and put it in baby's room with correct details on it. This makes things seem more real now - she's going to start knitting baby blankets and cardigans and things (all neutral of course) too - getting a bit ahead of ourselves but we know it'll happen one day in the near future!
Sorry about the paragraph haha, was dying to get that out to someone else - haven't seen anyone but Mum since! X

Ah bless you pickle. If it's making you unhappy and self conscious I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of it! Hopefully it won't be too long til you actually have surgery!

CautionHormone · 16/01/2016 22:08

Oh, and I haven't made an appointment yet to see my GP. Thursday he wasn't in and Friday I'd rang at 9am instead of 8am and apparently all appointments were booked. Was ripping my hair out whilst on the phone to them but I'm going to go beginning of next week :)

pickle162 · 17/01/2016 10:05

Good luck with trying to get an appointment tomorrow caution
Any news kwick?

I reported the stupid eBay lady last night, just got to wait 3more days then can close the case. I've tried to add myself to facebay groups just waiting approval- 6weeks to get them sold

CautionHormone · 17/01/2016 10:16

Yeah, is there any news Kwick?!

Thanks pickle. My GP surgery can be an absolute nightmare sometimes - it depends on your luck on the day!

What a palaver.. Hopefully you get them sold quickly and without any trouble when you find a buyer :)
