Welcome aboard find and twerk. It's gone quite quiet on here recently.

Anyone having any fun ttc activities/stories to keep us entertained till we enter November and can start testing. I have a shiny monitor that I get to use to pee on sticks in a few days which should keep me entertained for a few weeks!

sazzlehopes · 17/10/2013 16:47

Hi Science I too have the shiny monitor i think you speak of! I am on cycle 11...boooo...but hoping for a bfp either end oct/beg nov, either way i'm hopping back and forth between buses trying to keep up with everyone!
Mine is a cbfm, i enjoyed using it this month, it was pricey, but after 11 cycles i thought what the heck! Anyway i'm on the 2ww wait now so i'll keep you posted on how i get on!

Twerking - your name is just brilliant!

findingme · 17/10/2013 16:55

Can anyone recommend any good (accurate but cheap) ovulation kits, are or they all just as good as each other? I haven't used one before.

No fun stories (that I want to share!) but I have just read a theory about putting in a mooncup after DTD to try to conceive!! I actually considered trying it for a second so must be losing the plot. Has anyone else heard of any unusual tips?

plinkyplonks · 17/10/2013 17:12

Just enjoy having great dtd without all the 'Oh my lordy lord! Is THIS the moment my baby's conceived?! Duh duh duh!!' moments :D :D And enjoy a nice drink (or several) because as soon as you get that BFP you've got a nice 9 month wait for another!! Imagine your 17 year old self listening to you now.. "Ohhhh no, I have to have moooore great sex :( sigh And be able to drink lots of naughty alcoholic stuff :O AND have POAS parties and everything!!! ... :D

October's well over rated, bring on November!!

ScienceGeekGirl · 17/10/2013 17:21

Finding, I've used the cheapies that you can get at amazon. They are a little bit of a faff as I did them while at work. But every month I'd get nice two dark lines (nice to see two lines even if it isn't a pg test) I've moved on the the monitor as a) DH bought it and b) it gives you more notice before ovulation and thought it might help as I've been at it for 8 months now. They are very expensive though so if you want to opk go for cheap ones first is my advice.

ScienceGeekGirl · 17/10/2013 17:23

Oh and sazzle it is a cbfm. Aren't I all fancy lol

TwerkingNinetoFive · 17/10/2013 17:37

I use the cheap amazon ones too. But I've only ever had one positive so no idea of they work really.
When do people do a pregnancy test? I have cheap amazon pregnancy tests too and they say upto 4 days before your missed period but I think I'll be setting my self up for disappointment if I test then.

grobagsforever · 17/10/2013 17:58

Those ovulation sticks can be misleading. They only test for a hormone that says you are about to ovulate. It is very possible to get a positive on a stick and then not ovulate. Your body then has another go a few days later and then you ovulate, but of course this could mean you miss the actual window. When I was breastfeding I could tell my body was having several goes at ovulation per cycle. I would recommend charting over peeing on sticks. Anyway CD11 for me, so prob Ov tonight or tomorrow. The pressure! ;-)

findingme · 17/10/2013 18:01

I have a rule that I won't test until the day of my period. If I test early and got a positive result, then had AF I would be devastated. Also if it is negative, I would have to test again in a few days to check.

I might give it one more month before getting ov kit. November will be a good month. I'm using an app called My Days, have been using it for a few months now, that tries to calculate your ovulation date based on data you put in. Anyone else use any apps? More dtd is definitely the cheaper and more fun option!

lucyfluff · 17/10/2013 18:04

Hi to all the newbies hoppinh aboard Smile hope its as lucky as the october bus!!!!

I have finalllyyyyy stopped spotting tonight so DH is getting lucky lol. Im not even sure when AF will return so its going to be a bit more casual sex in oct/nov I think. Still fun trying though Grin

lucyfluff · 17/10/2013 18:07

Finding me I use fertility friend, just the normal app I dont upgrade etc. Its useful for putting in other symptoms etc abd charts on calender really easily. A lot of people use the graphs too but I havnt got a clue what Im looking at Grin Grin Grin

Aisha18 · 17/10/2013 18:39

Hi everyone...this is my first ever post. We have just started ttc #1 first cycle, BFP due 2nd nov (I think) I still feel slightly like a fraud posting here as I can't actually believe we are (hopefully) going to have a baby! It's so exciting! I just can't believe I will/might get pregnant! We are dtd every other day and even now I'm worried its not enough or we might miss the ovulation day! Any reassurance appreciated. So nice to find this thread and share the time with others...hopefully next month will be a lucky one for us! Smile

ThisIsMeNow · 17/10/2013 18:42

Quick question for people, I'm still bf dd (roughly 4-6 feeds a day) so will I definately be ovulating?!
Af came back about 5 weeks after she was born if that makes any difference.

OP posts:
plinkyplonks · 17/10/2013 18:44

Welcome aboard!! Agreed with the casual approach!! Decided not to chart or temp for the first 6 months so not to put too much pressure on my DH. This month is the first where we are dtd every other day too so hopefully November will be a better month. We'll see!!

VJONES1985 · 17/10/2013 19:12

Hi all. I am facing up to the fact that I need to join this bus now! Yesterday when AF arrived I was a wreck, but today I binned my opks and am ready for the relaxed approach!

I, er, drank most of the bottle last night Blush
Was appallingly sad at the arrival of Af, felt like shit and wallowed in self pity all day.
Still feel like crap today.

Almost convinced myself it was implantation bleeding in the morning but by afternoon it was so heavy I was under no illusions.
Bollocks.

How you feeling today? Holding up alright?

VJONES1985 · 17/10/2013 21:09

I was exactly the same. Cried at work this morning and made my teaching assistant cry too, bless her. Still sad but getting on with it!

ThisIsMeNow · 17/10/2013 21:14

Not much else to do really is there?
Here, saved you a seat next to me Smile

Thank you. Let's stay positive.

MundayCakes85 · 17/10/2013 22:17

I know the feeling- thought my super short AF could have been wishful thinking implantation. But temp dropped yesterday. Onwards and upwards! Did I miss the wine? Had a cup of tea instead, and made a chocolate cake for DH. Feeling much better now.

ThisIsMeNow · 17/10/2013 22:27

Wine plenty to go around munday
