Oh shit choco. How upsetting Sad. Have you & DH thought about putting a list together of the things' you can & cannot compromise on? Maybe that will help you with the process of choosing a donor. Have you given the clinic a list of your preferences? If it helps, one of my best friends has a 6ft 2in lad & she is 5ft! He is blonde with fair hair & she is dark skinned & dark haired! I have NEVER heard anyone question the parentage

chocolocodowninacapulco · 22/10/2013 22:58

Thank you brooks. They're not daft questions, plus I don't want people to think I'm being heightist by the way. We have already given the clinic our donor preferences, but you wouldn't think so from the current 'match'. Part of me thinks the height shouldn't matter, but I just wanted as close a match to me as possible.

How are you doing brooks, have you had any stimming scans lately? Are you managing to keep the bruises away still? X

BrookerC · 22/10/2013 23:06

Hi glow piss! Have a clear out instead of packing stuff you will not unpack at the other end
blind send your friend over here for some support. We don't bite Wink
Glad you're feeling better iwant. Wait 'til we've got the pessaries to moan about too. Joy!
mittens you definitely would not want the headaches I've been enduring on LP. I was on SP before & had very few symptoms. Hopefully you will be the same Smile
Anyone watched GBBO? Brilliant! No spoilers in case anyone needs to catch up, but my favourite won Grin
Hi to everyone x

BrookerC · 22/10/2013 23:20

Hey choco. Nice made up word! Is there a shortage of donors at your clinic? Are you able to discuss with them? Of course you want to match closely to yourself. That's only natural - so would I. It never fecking ends all this stress does it?
Right, onto my bruises before I start to get too heavy. I haven't had anymore & the half a dozen I have are now fading. You should have seen me trying to hide them from everyone in the changing room tonight Blush Next scan & bloods on Thursday x

IWantOneNow · 23/10/2013 12:14

hi All. My mum has just told me about an article in the Daily Mail, about mini-IVF:
www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2463640/mini-IVF-boosts-chance-getting-pregnant-half-price.html

It says that its half the price of normal IVF due to less drugs (only a pill every day for approx 20 days), and is especially beneifical (more benefical than tradeitional IVF) for those ladies between 35 - 45.
The only problem is that i cannot find any clinics in the UK who are doing any trials on this. Has anyone heard of this in the UK?.....

nobeer · 23/10/2013 12:23

brooker I think I should name change Grin I've already chucked out loads of clothes and papers. Think I need to be ruthless and chuck out crap Christmas presents i've never liked!
Re GBBO, I was delighted with the result too and cried

bikesaregreat · 23/10/2013 14:18

Hi all!

Have been off the computer for a bit - keep looking up ivf things on That There Fancy Google and it's doing my head in. Must refrain...just do what the clinic tells me and not go terrifying myself with news articles...

Bugs - I'm stabbing Buserelin at the moment - is that what you mean? Not up with t'lingo, I'm afraid...! Started on day 21 of my cycle - is that what you've been advised? I'm on long protocol. Aye - this shit is frealz.

Brooker - yup, this is my first cycle! Teetering between excited and terrified of crushing defeat...argh.

wave to vall - nice to have a cycle buddy!!

vallinnapod · 23/10/2013 14:33

Choco - how frustrating. It takes so much to pyschic yourself up for these things.

iwant - it's often referred to as natural IVF. They let you cycle naturally and then harvest your egg and do the rest as standard IVF.

AFM - I start on Gonal f tonight.

vallinnapod · 23/10/2013 14:34

Bikes forgot to say, my DS was my first cycle.

This one is a little harder Confused

IWantOneNow · 23/10/2013 15:24

Oh right vanilla. Well I've heard of that! Thx for telling me that. Is there anyone on here who was tried natural IVF? Any good? Would love to hear from u.... X

IWantOneNow · 23/10/2013 15:39

Actually Vanilla, i've just read about Natural IVF, and that does not entail taking ANY fertility drugs at all. the mini-IVF which i've just read about actually uses Clomid pill for about 20 days before egg retrieval.
Also, the natural IVF results don't look particularly good, but with the mini IVF it says that it is 2 times more likely to be successful for ladies over 40 than conventional IVF treatments..... any further advice or experience from anyone please?.... thanks.

wishwash · 23/10/2013 18:30

Hello ladies,

I just wanted to chip in about the mini ivf. I have indeed seen it at one clinic in the uk but I can't remember for the life of me which one it was! I didn't know what it was at the time so didn't think anything of it! Grrr.

Keep looking iwant it is around x

nobeer · 23/10/2013 21:02

I'll be doing natural FET but EC was definitely medicated!

vallinnapod · 23/10/2013 21:38

First Gonal f done!

BrookerC · 23/10/2013 21:45

Well done val! How did you find you find it? The sharpness of the needle compared to the crappy, cheap ones's for the buserelin is most welcome! I actually quite like stabbing with them x

Fabuluce · 23/10/2013 22:17

I don't understand the egg collection section in the mini ivf article - how do they do it in 5 mins??

BlindKitty · 23/10/2013 22:26

brooker ah no, we're keeping her for ourselves on the berries thread! It's just sometimes you guys know more stuff than us so we have to seek help haha!

starsandmoonandback · 24/10/2013 07:56

Wow it's been busy on here after being so quiet!

Hello everybody. Smile

Just wanted to say To choco, sorry you're feeling all confused. It must be really hard with the donor matching and figuring out what's really important or not. I think I would feel similar to you that I'd want a close match in lots of ways. But....I do think that perhaps the things that seem so important now, won't be so important after you have your baby in your arms. I know that doesn't make your decisions easier now though. Hugs

Brooker, glad you're 'enjoying' your gonal f injecting!! Lol. It is blissful the nice fine needle and no drawing up of liquids like a chemist Wink So, where are you at follie wise?

Nobeer, moving is great for getting rid of stuff! This time I am actually having things packed for me! I've always enjoyed packing myself but there's so much going on and we aren't intending to move for a long time after this so we are treating ourselves!!! I feel a bit stressed already though, that the day before I move, no boxes will have been packed! Arghhh! Hope your packing is coming along nicely.

Bikes, well done on first jab. Hope buserilin (down regulation (dr) drug) doesn't have any nasty side effects on you.

Hi to everyone else!

Ive not heard of mini Ivf either, so will have to head off to DR google to find out Grin

I had my apt for hsg results yday and I do have two areas of scarring in my uterus which could well be stopping implantation. I thought it was because it reduced the area an embryo could implant but he explained really well it was that it changed the whole environment if the receptive uterus in terms if white blood cells etc. he even drew me a picture! Hee hee! Anyway the end result is another (expensive) hysteroscopy and removal of adhesions! So I'll have this in a couple of weeks time and then we won't cycle until January. At least I can enjoy Christmas and move house Ivf free!!! That's gotta be better hasn't it? Of course I worry my eggs will be much older by then, but I'm telling myself surely a few more months won't hurt Blush

I so am going to watch the GBBO next year!!! Everyone is talking about it!!!!

BrookerC · 24/10/2013 12:56

Hi all.
Quick update. All good at my scan today (no bloods). Lots of follies developing. The largest is only at 11-12mm so not back in until Monday. More stabbing - YAY!!

starsandmoonandback · 24/10/2013 18:28

Sounds good brooker. Nice and steady stimming makes for good eggies :-)

OP posts:
talulahbelle · 24/10/2013 19:37

Well, today I have what seems to be a full on AF, despite starting estrogen priming again Monday evening. No idea what my insides are doing but it doesn't seen to be working in terms of growing a lining. I have a scan booked for Monday but I'm not sure there will be any lining to measure. Meh.

chocolocodowninacapulco · 24/10/2013 19:40

Hello lovely ladies,

brooks really glad to hear your update! great that lots of follies are developing Smile. Boo to the stabbing though. I absolutely know what you mean about the Gonal F stabbing, I enjoyed the whole injection process Blush

stars thanks for the support Smile. Glad you have your results back and you can be treated. Waiting is tough, but as you say, you want things to be right and it means you can get on with 'normal' life for a while. Nice that you had a good consultant who explained things properly, that makes all the difference.

val great news that you have started stabbing. How's it going?

bikes still doing the early morning swims?! How are the jabs going?

talulah sorry to hear that things don't seem to be going well Sad. Hopefully you'll get some answers on Monday. What should happen once you start the patches then?

I have good news, phew! Our original donor had a meeting at the clinic today and she is going to be going ahead with treatment and things are only now a week behind. So, ET w/b 1st December. I can't say I understand, but am chuffed to bits after the world falling apart feeling I had on Tuesday night. Woo hoo!

Hello to everyone else Smile

vallinnapod · 24/10/2013 20:15

Brooker my last jabbing experience was Gestone. Nothing is worse than Gestone. This is child's play. My arse has only stopped aching (over 10 weeks after my last Gestone injection!)

Gonal f is very much the same as the puregon I was on for DS. I will have centrotide and menopur too this time which will be new experiences. And on a (very minor) plus, no cyclogest but, on a huge negative, 100mg Gestone - two vials SadShock

Sounds like you are growing nicely though!

Hi Choco all going well. Next scan/E2 on Monday. Fabulous news on your donor!

Llw2 · 24/10/2013 20:42

Congrats brook, that's what we like lots of lovely follies!

Great news choc, December will come round so quickly, you should plan a fun thing to do a week for the next few weeks and it will fly by, yummy dinner somewhere extravagant and fun followed by a girlie spa day with cream tea lunch is what I'd plan !!!!

No news my end until Tuesday but I'm feeling quietly positive if for no other reason than I've been sick as a dog, every cloud and all. There is a gaping GBBO hole in my life which can only be filled by TOWIE, made in Chelsea and Geordie shore ( yes I know they are shite but it certainly takes my mind off of butt bullets and sickness)!!!

Love to you all x
