I think it depends on the EC Val - after my first I felt properly mauled over but the second time I was mostly fine. Paracetamol, a hot water bottle and a blankie for you I reckon.

vallinnapod · 19/11/2013 17:54

val hope you are getting snuggly on the sofa. Keeping everything crossed with your embies
fab have absolutely no idea. Stranger things have happened though isn't that right mis?

Thanks for the warm welcome back, really missed you all.

Fabuluce · 19/11/2013 19:55

Am I right in thinking Mis is having twin boys?

Missmidden · 19/11/2013 20:31

No Fab, that's Beetle, I think! I am only 6 weeks and waiting for my first scan on Sat.

Brooker and IWant so sorry for the BFNs- there are no words, are there?

Talualh if you are still dropping in many congrats! I have seen you on the antenatal boards, where I am not brave enough to post yet- waiting til after the scan.

Rabbit I really hope your IUI gives the result you deserve, fingers crossed.

Hi again to Marypops, good to see you back and I hope DS is on the mend now.

Hi to everyone else. I won't bore you with my anxieties, which are numerous, but will let you know how the scan goes.

Optimistic13 · 19/11/2013 20:58

Hello everyone am I ok to join?

So I'm 29 have been with my partner for 10 years, we have been TTC for 7 years. I have been pregnant once in this time but unfortunately it didn't work out, since then I have been on clomid (double dose) for 7 months ... Nothing, as a result of being on these for so long with no scans or monitoring I managed to grow several cysts and was told I have endometriosis (the clomid really didn't get along with endo) which then led to a laparoscopy. Tbh I'm confused about my fertility as such as one consultant said the endo is the cause and another suggesting it has no impact on my fertility and it's unknown my partners tests all came back fine and raring to go ...
Anyway We start IVF on Thursday all our tests are complete and it's injection time - feeling very anxious but excited to get started this has been going in motion since January!! I suppose I'm looking for hope/tips .. Evan a heads up.. Also curious on success or not for ladies around my age with endo suppose I want to prepare myself (not to be negative just have all possibilities thought about).
Xx

eurochick · 19/11/2013 21:41

Hi Optimistic. I'm glad you found us. Are you doing short protocol or long?

I'm having an endometrial scratch on Thursday, then waiting for AF to arrive, probably at the weekend. I'll be starting short protocol drugs on day 2 I think (not quite sure yet - our teaching appointment is also on Thursday which will confirm what we are doing) so I won't be far behind you. nobeer should be starting an FET cycle around the same time, so you will have a couple of cycle buddies. :)

vallinnapod · 19/11/2013 22:05

Hiya Optimistic! I can't help with being 29/endo but I was 29/PCOS and got pregnant with my son on our first IVF cycle Grin Number two us not proving so easy Hmm

nobeer · 19/11/2013 22:24

Welcome and good luck Optimistic. I'm having a frozen embryo transfer sometime in December, depending on when my period rocks up. I'm not in your age group I'm afraid, I'm an old codger (41) who met DP late in life!

Pipbin · 19/11/2013 22:56

Evening ladies, I will pop back properly later as it looks like my IVF won't start properly until my December day one as my next one is due in about 3 days and might not fit in due to xmas.

However, when I was having my last egg collection there was a couple in the bay next to us and DH couldn't help but overhear that they had only managed to collect one egg. Well today when I was having a pre IVF chat with the nurse we were talking about odds etc and she said that there was someone recently who only had one egg taken, it fertilised and she is now pg. Isn't that lovely?

Optimistic13 · 20/11/2013 08:40

Hi Everyone - thanks for letting me in :)
hmmm... how on earth do i tag your names in this? :P

eurochick - im persuming short protocol as she told us the injection/embryo phase will be just over 2 weeks? they have changed the original plan which we had been advised takes about 7 weeks in all including judgment day (Dont no why...maybe as xmas is approaching)?

Vallinnapod - Thank you, first cycle success :) that gives me hope hehe so you will be starting january?

bobeer - thats very exciting you may get the bestest xmas present/start to the new year ever :)

Lifeasafish · 20/11/2013 09:27

Hey all.

So I'm struggling. We had tears this morning. I just don't feel any different and I don't see how this can work and I just cannot imagine myself pregnant or with a child. I'm really struggling and think I instinctively know that my embies have gone. Has anyone got any advice for me? What can I do to get out of this mindset?

Thanks fab for your offer hat is sweet especially when you have so much on your plate. I think you should POAS

val Its a bit late and I hope you feel better now, but the nurses informed me that the follicles fill with fluid after EC draining. This was just before EC when I mentioned I was looking forward to being much more comfy (OHSS over here). Oh how she laughed... Next day I couldn't stand straight or walk Hmm.

Well done on the embies. It really is quality not quantity.

optimistic welcome!

euro good luck for the scratch. I have my fingers crossed for you this cycle, you are so brave as I know how hard(er) it all is for you.

nobeer glad the move went well!

Lifeasafish · 20/11/2013 09:29

I had ET 5 days ago with x2 5 day frosties.

I just do not feel that the future is 'bright' as so to speak. Just more of the same shit and constant disappointment.

bikesaregreat · 20/11/2013 10:52

Hi all,

Popping back in! I had to have some time out as was going nuts with all the fertility crap. fish - I know what you mean - I feel a bit the same at the moment. I'm due to POAS on Saturday, but am pretty sure of what the answer will be, bugger it. That's the day of a pal's wedding as well, so we'll have to go and smile and pretend to be normal and coo over other people's friggin' babies. Gah. At least I'll be able to have champagne if it's a BFN...

Sorry for lack of personals - looking forward to reading through and catching up with where folk are xx

nobeer · 20/11/2013 11:13

sorry to hear that fish. I went throught the same with my FET, so i really feel for you. I was off work at the time so was constantly symptom checking/googling/mumsnetting which didn't help. My only recommendation is distracting yourself with whatever you can, a good book, tv, exercise etc. Wish I could be more helpful Sad

eurochick · 20/11/2013 11:26

fish sorry you are having a tough time. I agree with nobeer's distraction recommendation. Throwing myself into work helped me.

pip that's a great story. It really does only take one. One of the 10+ers I think only got one egg (maybe 2?) and her second attempt worked.

optimistic if you want to highlight names, put the symbol above the 8 key either side of the name.

I just mentioned to mr euro that I could be injecting as early as Sunday/Monday if my period arrives when I expect it to. He hadn't realised and doesn't look happy about it. I feel fine about the idea! I suppose that's the main thing as I have to go through all the treatment and he just has to jizz in a pot, but I wish he was feeling ok about it too.

vallinnapod · 20/11/2013 20:42

Euro men don't really get it, no matter how hard they try. When I told DH we would be going again in Jan he's first response was "But I am sick of Becks Blue" Hmm I'm sick of having my hormones manipulated, injections, dildocam and blood tests but focus on booze why don't you Angry

Fish I am sorry. I can empathise. I am at the random crying stage too. Work isn't really helping as I am getting very short tempered with other people's issues and 'priorities'. If anyone asks how I am it makes me cry, which pisses me off (my crying, not their asking) and makes it worse. Confused You're PUPO. Hang on to that and don't do what I would do and POAS

AFM, hoping that my 3 embies are hanging on. Will be in the office when I get the call tomorrow so trying to plan where I can go so I can club if needs be. They will also decide whether to freeze tomorrow (their preference - to then culture to day 5 and biopsy when we have the next batch on Jan)

nobeer · 21/11/2013 08:19

Good luck today Val. Got my fingers crossed for you.

AFM I think AF is on her way. I've started spotting and it's a bit heavier this morn (tmi). So hopefully this means we'll be doing FET in December! Do any of you gorgeous ladies know about acupuncture? I've found a clinic in my city which according to its website does acupuncture for IVF. I know it's supposed to help, but do you know if you're supposed to go before or after ET (frozen or fresh)? I'm going to ring them sometime or pop in, but I like to have an idea of what to expect beforehand!

vallinnapod · 21/11/2013 09:47

Nobeer I am a big acupuncture fan both for IVF and in general. I have it weekly, which is expensive but in my eyes worth it. I also have it twice on the day of ET, before and after. The only cycled I didn't get PG was when I thought, sod it I can't be arsed and didn't have acupuncture.

Feeling awful. My clinic are scanning my for OHSS at 10:45 Sad

nobeer · 21/11/2013 10:12

val you have my sympathies. They were concerned about me and OHSS and I felt rubbish. Drink plenty of fluids and take it easy. Oh, and thanks for the advice, i'll ring this place and find out if I can get an appointment.

vallinnapod · 21/11/2013 11:07

2 above average day 3 embryos being frozen today. This will be thawed and biopsies with whatever I get in Jan.

Just waiting to see a nurse having been scanned of OHSS but only having a tiny amount of fluid in my abdomen. Look 6 months PG!

vallinnapod · 21/11/2013 11:11

Ladies, when in your cycle do you have a scratch?

resipsa · 21/11/2013 13:55

Hi everyone. Just popping in to say "hello" before this thread disappears. Sorry for my absence but it was a mental-health necessity (an dwork has been mad which is a good distraction as has been said). Hope everyone is well (beyond the ups and downs of why we're on here, anyway).
