WishWash, go with CARE and their embryoscope technology

bikesaregreat · 17/10/2013 09:59

Morning all!
fab - god, that all sounds complicated - I'm beginning to think you need a science degree to go through this ivf malarkey...good luck. Great that you can go through with next November round though.

bugs - happy to report that I've had my first banana-omelette after a very long, cold swim this morning - DELICIOUS! Thanks for the recipe!

Day 14 of DR drugs today - feeling a bit better, just quite tired. I have a day off work today so may have a nana-nap at some point...!

Oh no - I wish you hadn't suggested chocolate spread...that stuff is like crack to me!! It was really filling and satisfying after a chilly dip - stopped me eating ALL the food in the house! Grin

Your halo shines so bright I can see it from here...!

BrookerC · 17/10/2013 22:12

Evening all!
llw what a right royal pain in the arse! I haven't had any issues with the app. How are you doing lovely? Still watching GBBO?
fabbie Wowzers! Sounds very comprehensive . So pleased that you're able to plan your next cycle. When do you have to start all those drugs? You'll be rattling m'lady! Can't help with the cost I'm afraid.
bikes I'm on day 17 of the DR drugs. Hope you managed that nap -I'm constantly whacked. When are you in for a scan & bloods?
iwant how are you getting on? Have you had your scan yet? Hope you're ok.
twinks are you looking at an FET soon? Let us know how you get on at the clinic x

Hi to everyone else

I've started with the stimming tonight & hoping that the effects of the DR drugs disappear sharpish. The headaches are really getting annoying -anyone else had the same? I'm getting through a ridiculous amount of paracetamol Confused

nobeer · 17/10/2013 22:27

Sorry to hear about the headaches brooker. I definitely suffered with more migraines than usual when I started deregging, and they were worse too. I hope they fuck off soon!

BrookerC · 17/10/2013 22:42

Hey nobeer how's the packing going? Thanks for the reply. I'm really hoping that they fuck off soon too!

Keep forgetting to say, due to the amount of water I'm drinking, I seem to spend half my life in the loo! They must think I'm bonkers at work...

nobeer · 18/10/2013 08:58

It's going slowly, but it is happening! I keep running out of boxes or I can't find the packing tape! But we're getting there Smile

bikesaregreat · 18/10/2013 09:57

hey brooker - yup, headaches can bugger off any time now... hope your stimming drugs make you feel better! I'm on day 14 of DR, have a scan a week today and then another the Friday after, then if all goes well, egg retrieval and put-back-ification first week of November. Argh! We'll be away the whole week then, as it's a 7 hour round-trip to the clinic from here Confused, so it's easier to stay and not to have to trek back and forward on crappy roads.

I think I start the stimming drugs after scan next Friday (assuming all is well), so hopefully will feel better then. I think I have to stop open water swimming then though - is there something about regulating body temp? Or did I make that up? Anyone know? Hope not, I love jumping in the sea...

IWantOneNow · 18/10/2013 17:22

Hi everyone - sorry i haven't been around recently, but i've been lurking and egging you all on.
Hi Brooker - yes i'm doing ok thanks. I started my Menopur on thursday night too, so we are definitely in this together! It's a little time-consuming (i have 1 water to 4 powders, i think that's 300mg of Menopur), but me and DP had a laugh whilst doing it, and it went fine. How about you? How's it going? have those nasty headaches fucked off yet? hope so Smile.
Hi bikes not sure i can help you on the body temp bit, but must say you are mighty brave swimming in the sea first thing in the morning Grin
Waves to Wannabe - thanks for asking after me, i'm doing fine thanks. The hot sweats are still there, but hopefully they'll go once the Menopur kicks in.
Wish i think a lot of clinics are doing the embryoscope now, which CARE first created. My clinic is still doing trials on it, which is great coz it's free!! (i know CARE where i am charge £750 for it). I think it's a good move forward though (technology-wise).
Hope everyone is doing well, and to those who are just lurking. Hope you're ok Thoughtful if you're still around (i think we were going to be on the same timeline for this cycle)....x

Mittensonkittens · 18/10/2013 22:03

Hi everyone,
I've had a name change (was Stillhoping), I have had a few days away from this thread because I feel so overwrought about everything that I've been trying not to think about it.

wish I'm so so sorry it wasn't the result you were hoping for. I hope you get some answers at your clinic. I doubt there is anything "wrong" with you, I just think fertility is such a lottery, it's a numbers game isn't it? Xxxx I have been thinking of you.

I have been in a lot of pain the last few days so I'm hoping that means the giant ovarian cyst has burst but we shall see. I'm expecting to come on on the 29th so will be starting the treatment shortly after that. A friend has just texted me to say she's been for her 12 week scan and the baby is very active, great heartbeat, she and her partner are over the moon etc etc. I have had a little cry to myself. I know their success isn't my failure but my god it feels like it.

As an aside how have people found menopur? I see there are a couple of people currently stimming with it.

talulahbelle · 19/10/2013 09:17

Hi all
Just checking in quickly. Nothing happening here - on the last progesterone pessary tonight then waiting for a bleed (although I've been spotting non stop for ages) then back to patches to help my lining grow and another attempt at FET.
I've got a minging cold, so lemsip for breakfast today and lots of sitting on the sofa until I feel better.
to all.

BrookerC · 19/10/2013 17:49

Hi ladies
How's everyone doing?
bikes have the clinic given you a date for EC then? I'm assuming mine will be around early Nov too as I needed quite a while stimming the last 2 times so I'm guessing it may be the same this time. My headaches are still persisting but I am feeling much brighter in general . Hope your headaches are manageable if not buggered off entirely. Not sure about the open water swimming but think you may be ok until ET. I'd check with your clinic to be sure.
iwant thank god I'm not mixing every night! I'm on gonal-f which is very conveniently delivered in an injectable 'pen'! I love the fact that you're having fun while mixing up! I too am hoping the hot flushes disappear soon. Also, a nurse very comfortingly advised me that all these fecking headaches means that the drugs are working and my oestrogen levels have dropped. One thing I keep reminding myself is that my body is responding to the drugs. Let's just hope it's in the right way....
mittens nice name change. Sorry you're still struggling with it all. Hope that cyst has gone in time for you to start your cycle. Will you be on SP? Btw, don't worry about dropping in & out. We all need time out through this journey.
talullah how miserable for you to have a cold on top of everything. However, you will struggle to find a better excuse to keep your butt on the sofa for a few days'. Make the most of convalescing. x
nobeer just in case you're lurking, sending some virtual boxes, tape & spare pair of hands over Wink
Hi to stars maryp twinks llw drizz fabbie wish choco bugs badhair & anyone I've missed Blush
Waves to any lurkers x

bikesaregreat · 19/10/2013 18:49

Hi all,

brooker - I'm in at the clinic for a baseline scan on the 25th, then another scan on the 1st Nov, then EC on the 4th November (assuming all is well) - sounds like we'll be around the same time. Good luck!! I'll check with them about swimming as well - they said it was fine while I was on Buserelin, so just taking it as okay until I start the stimming drugs on the 25th...thanks!

mittens - lovely new name! I know what you mean about having to hear about other people's bundles of flippin joy. It's nice and all, but really? I can't ever muster up a fully sincere congratulation, which is grim and reflects badly on me, I know. I have a friend who is due in the next couple of weeks, just when we start all the stimming and EC and whatnot, and I just don't know if I can bear to hear the good news when it comes... time to put my big girl knickers on and be happy for her, I guess. Feel like a thoroughly bad friend at times...

chocolocodowninacapulco · 19/10/2013 22:39

Hello! I've been reading, but too tired to post

brooks great to hear that you're getting on better now you're stimming, crap about night sweats though, good old drugs, eh?!

bikes a 7 hour round trip to your clinic and you swim in the sea at the end of October. You are hardcore.

Hi talulah how are you holding up? Sorry to hear you're poorly, do you have rough dates for your FET yet?

mittens I don't think the announcements get any easier, I was struggling today with all the bumps and babies out and about today. I found the menopur ok, DH mixed it and all I had was a bit of a rash at the injection site and stinging for a short while after.

fab sorry to hear about the immune results! I was on clexane and pred and high strength folic acid - I think it's the intralipids which are the most expensive . Good to hear you can go ahead in November.

stars sorry to hear about the results not showing anything up, IYSWIM. When are you expecting the HSG results?

wish how are you doing now? I always had a wait 5-6 for a follow up appointment at said clinic, and that was private as we weren't eligible for anything on the NHS. I am at LWC and they seem very good. I think to be honest, if you ask at the W clinic you will get, but then why the bloody hell should it have to be us instigating everything?

Hello to iwant nobeer bugger maryp res Pram twinks llw and anyone I've forgotten!

AFM, AF arrived on Friday so I've started the pill now and apparently ET will be week beginning 25th November! Very exciting and not a little bit scary!

BlindKitty · 20/10/2013 19:17

Hi guys, just sneaking in to see if I can get some advice from you wise ladies! My friend is about to embark on ivf and has been told that her amh is ok (it's 11.3) but she's googled it and apparently it's not. What are your thoughts? Thanks so much x

vallinnapod · 20/10/2013 20:03

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone remembers me, I was here a while back. Got PG end of June with an FET but had a MMC at 9 weeks.

No more frosties so full on for us now. Bikes and Brooker it sounds like we can be cycle buddies. I am doing the antagonist protocol with PGD (and possibly ICSI) this time so provided all is well with the baseline scan (likely Weds) I'll be stimming away. EC est. 6 Nov.

Asked them to run the recurrent miscarriage panel. All well part from a homogenous copy of the MTHRFR gene. Thankfully neutralised with high dose folic acid.

So, here we go again - looking forward to 'meeting' more of you all as this madness continues.

nobeer · 20/10/2013 20:58

Welcome again Vall! Good luck.

Blind I've no idea, but sure someone who has a clue will be along soon.

AFM boxes are getting filled (that's not a euphemism)! I'm going to have to work at it as I'm visiting my family next weekend. Can't wait! Will probably post again in a week or so after I've had my phone appointment with immunologist.

BlindKitty · 20/10/2013 21:01

nobeer that's what I'm counting on! Shes also been told that she diesnt get a choice which ivf centre shes referred to, is that right? She's very worried so any advice would be appreciated Smile

Fabuluce · 20/10/2013 21:34

Hi Blind, how old is your friend? Last time I was tested I had an AMH of 9.95 which is in the low range but considered good for my age at the time (I was 39) but would be considered an issue if she were say 25. I'm now 41 and have had 2 rounds of ivf - I produced 11 good mature eggs each time. My ivf failed because of my auto-immune issues sadly but my DH and I produced great looking embies so it's proof that what may sound like a relatively low AMH can still do the job Smile. Hope that helps?

Fabuluce · 20/10/2013 21:37

Unfortunately I know nothing about the nhs process - my local area considers over 34 as beyond help!! Gotta love em eh!

Fabuluce · 20/10/2013 21:38

Waves to the gang Grin am away glamping for a few days but will post on return for a catch up. Have been lurking a lot and feel it's probably time to jump back in.

Llw2 · 20/10/2013 21:39

Mittens the Menopur was ok but was a bit stingy. Ladies I've been watching and willing you all on in the background x
Afm I'm still on the progesterone which I absolutely hate. Heartbeat scan is a week on Tuesday and feels forever away. I know it's wrong but can't help but fear the worst! Lots of love to you all Grin

foxybingodotcom · 20/10/2013 22:07

Hey, just wondering if I can join in?

Hoping to do a FET this month (currently on cycle day 5) with my last remaining embie. Had 2 cycles previously the last one gave me my beautiful DS who is 2.3.

Really hoping we'll strike it lucky with our frostie but have previously been diagnosed an 'implantation failure'.

Had prednisolone and clexane on my one successful cycle but planning on only doing clexane this time round, who knows if thats a good plan or not?

Doing this at the GCRM.

BlindKitty · 20/10/2013 22:23

fab thanks for advice. she's 30

llw2 know how you feel. I'm currently 9+4 (conceived via daily menopur and iui). Pleased to say 7 week scan went absolutely fine although I was convinced there would be nothing there when they scanned me! It was actually the worst 2 week wait I've ever had!
