Just a quick fly by post to send all my best wishes to wish x x I have been thinking of all of you but have had a really busy week - not sure how as dont seem to have actually done anything useful but don't seem to have stopped!

wishwash · 12/10/2013 10:38

I think we can safely say I won't be the next BFP. I know OTD isnt until Monday but this morning I did a FRER and clear blue plus (not digi) and got 2 BFN.
The discharge and cramping has pretty much gone but I think it's the progesterone holding it off Sad

We've been told our embies are great quality and they say my lining is nice and healthy every time. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? What is my body doing wrong?

bugger I have a Zita West relaxation CD I listen to - I always totally zone out and feel better after. Last time I was very conscientious about doing it every night, not so much this time. So another thing to beat myself up about.

wish I think it can be just bad luck - even people with no problems who ttc don't always catch on the first month. I hope you make your way through this dark time OK, and that your DP is supporting you.

starsandmoonandback · 12/10/2013 11:50

Wish honey, I'm sorry it's not better news. Sending you a hug. How many cycles have you done? I do believe it can be a numbers game partly, but also other factors can be at play too, like immune issues. I won't bang on about that as I'm not entirely sure if this is your first cycle or you've done a fair few. If the latter then I would definitely look into immune issues. It's not cheap but can be an answer for lots of people as to why with such good embryos it's not happening for you. I hope OTD has a different result for you, but I'm sure you know your body and your instinct. Look after yourself sweetie.

Tallullah, what is your naughty lining playing at? Are you drinking tons of milk? That helps, have a few Brazil nuts each day and a high protein diet over the next few days. I'm keeping everything crossed its thickened up by Tuesday and you can get the transfer on the go :-)

I'm on my phone and rushing so not got time to a ill and copy paste, save etcetera to do personals but will try and catch up more later.

I'm feeling fine after the hsg now. Was blinkin uncomfortable for a couple of days though. Now I'm wondering about results! I bet I won't be able to go ahead and cycle next month and will have to have another hysteroscopy instead! I just have a feeling! In that case I won't be cycling til January as don't want to ruin Christmas by starting in November/December time.

Sun is out her but it's still brrrrrrr!

Wish, I am sorry to hear about your BFN. Can I ask what your clinic's practice is? Do they use an embryoscope and take the embies to five days?

Choco, not sure if you saw this on the IVF pregnancy thread so I've popped over here to let you know. Over on the Assisted Conception thread Frosticle is waiting to see how her eight donor egg embryos are doing in Spain. Pop over and have a chat.

Hello everyone else. You may find the Assisted Conception thread useful, go and take a look. One gem to come out of that thread last week was this, from a lady who miscarried her IVF baby at eight weeks recently and had extensive tests done:

'So, I had my follow-up with the consultant. All chromosomes were normal as were all the tests in my recurrent miscarriage panel, bar one. I have a double copy of the same MTHFR gene. Yes, I read it as the motherfucker gene too. With a name (Almost) like that it is the one part of this whole process that has finally made sense.

So, it increases the risk of miscarriage but the good news is it can be neutralised by prescription strength folic acid (5mg as opposed to the standard 400ug)'

I'll butt out now but just wanted to share that with you. I wish you all success X

prambo2thereturn · 12/10/2013 12:07

Um..I fear my last post didn't make much sense. It was really for those who have miscarried or had chemicals or whose embies don't appear to stick despite their cycles going really well.

stars it's my first FET and got a complete BFN with my fresh cycle. I bled before OTD last time. I'm still not bleeding this time but I wish i could just get it over with.

pram I'm NHS but pretty sure my clinic don't use embryoscope anyway. They took my embies to day 5/6 and froze them. They say any problems I have will not be my embryos because they are great quality and thawed perfectly.

I guess it's either me or genetics... Or as Talulah said bad luck.

DP has told me he's starting to think it's never going to happen and now doesn't understand why that hurts so much! I feel for him because he has no one to talk to but I don't want to hear that. its me stopping him from having what he wants

talulahbelle · 12/10/2013 12:31

wish huge hugs, I know how you feel. The one good thing that has come from our struggles with IVF is that mine and DHs relationship is rock solid. I really hope you can comfort each other, and remember, your DP wants you and children with you, not just anyone.

Fabuluce · 12/10/2013 12:50

Hi Wish I have the same problem; textbook ivf process, fabulous embies, award winning womb lining (! according to my consultant anyway!) and yet over 2 ivf cycles with 3 embies each I've had 1 missed miscarriage at 8 weeks and 1 bfn so there is clearly an implantation problem. I've had the Chicago tests done (auto-immune tests) and the results are finally in however my clinic screwed up my consultation appointment yesterday and have told me they can't fit me in for another 2 weeks now. I am displeased with this response as you can imagine! I'm giving them until Monday then bollockings will be dispensed. But I'm hoping once I finally have the damned bloody consult that we will finally have some idea what our (my) problem is.

I would recommend getting 'is my body baby friendly' by Dr Alan Beer as it will really help with your general knowledge in this area. The biggest problem with auto-immune issues is that it is a minority of the fertility professional community that agree with the diagnosis and treatment of it. Some doctors still seem to think that even when women have had multiple ivf rounds failures/miscarriages that it is just 'bad luck' and don't seem to feel there's any reason to look into this issue. My understanding is that the nhs doesn't promote it so you would probably have to go private for the tests and treatment if you wanted it and nhs for the FET but don't quote me on that - I'm private all the way as the nhs think I'm too old to bother with and as a consequence I have not had any reason to do any real research on what they do and don't provide I'm afraid.

wishwash · 12/10/2013 13:10

Thanks fab. We have some money behind us from family so I think we may look into some tests. Do all fertility centres do the scratch? I've googled it and I can't find anywhere apart from Bristol. Is it advertised normally?

How much did the immune tests cost you?

After our last BFN we had no follow up appointment it was just 'call us when AF arrives and onto the next' type thing. We haven't spoken to any professional about anything!

Sorry I'm dominating the thread x

Fabuluce · 12/10/2013 13:26

Our clinic now advises everyone to do the scratch but didn't ehen I did my first two rounds - proof positive that the ivf world is consistently changing and upgrading!

The Chicago tests that I had were £1700 but there was an extra test which we didn't do which is where they test your partner - out consultant didn't think we needed to - and I think the addition of those tests would have pushed it up to more like around £2500.

Don't worry about hogging - you feel like poi and need some answers and support. We're giving you cuddles and handholds.

Fabuluce · 12/10/2013 13:27

Oh and I'm at Zita west's clinic in London.

And another thing (can you tell I'm on the phone and can't scroll back??) it really annoys me when clinics just drop you like that - they absolutely must do a follow up, it's so rude, uncaring and quite frankly unprofessional not too. I'd call them and demand one.

BrookerC · 12/10/2013 13:54

Oh the not knowing. wish I had 2 blasts put back with good lining but neither stuck. My clinic have recently started monitoring progesterone levels prior to EC. Apparently there is some research connecting the timing of elevated progesterone levels with poor implantation rates. Apparently your progesterone can peak too early and therefore be out of sync when the embie(s) are popped back in. My clinic now check it routinely when they take the final bloods before EC. May get worth asking about. My clinic is nhs
Also, I would be asking for a consult after a failed cycle. You need to hear what your consultant thinks & have an opportunity to ask questions. Take it easy lovely x

BrookerC · 12/10/2013 14:01

To clarify, I think with FET the bloods would be done a few days before transfer to check your progesterone levels.
prambo nice to see you in here Grin. Can you help? I thought I had remembered you posting a link sometime ago regarding DE embryo transfers and the genetics of the donor & recipient. Can't seem to find it. Hope you, DH & Prambino are all doing well x

BrookerC · 12/10/2013 14:10

Hi Fabbie! How fecking annoying for you. I do wonder if the clinics have ANY idea what all this waiting does to us Confused
talulah fx for us both on Tuesday. From what I know it's OD on protein for the next few days to help your lining. I am feeling rather blue today Hey, ho.

Fabuluce · 12/10/2013 14:36

Cuddles Brooks you seem to have been stabbing forever Hmm

Tallulah - definitely up that protein - good for eggs and lining is my understanding. X

Fabuluce · 12/10/2013 15:05

Ps - yes very fecking annoyed. Lots of grrrrring ensued last night and was only placated by a couple of glasses of vino tinto and a curry. And guess who had a sodding hangover this morning? On TWO glasses of wine??

talulahbelle · 12/10/2013 15:39

OK, so I have gone out and bought/taken/eaten:
Pregnacare conception
Extra selenium tablets
Grapefruit juice
Brazil nuts
Chicken breast sandwich for lunch
Raspberry leaf tea

Hoping something there does the trick.

BrookerC · 12/10/2013 15:52

I have just sobbed my heart out in the car for 15 mins whilst ranting 'this is not me, this is not me' . Desperately in need of some stimming drugs to regulate these fucking hormones. If this is what I have to look forward to with the menopause I'll be taking HRT -fact!

talulahbelle · 12/10/2013 16:02

brooker chin up. When down regging I dried because DH asked me to cook dinner and I couldn't cope. Hormones suck.

starsandmoonandback · 12/10/2013 16:05

Oh brooker honey. Keep telling yourself that. It isn't you! It's the blasted buserilin! I suffer so badly ob it myself, but my consultant says its nothing like the menopause! It fecking better not be is all I can say!!! When do you start the menopur? You will feel soooo much better.

Wish, my immune tests costed £1000. Mind came back ok but I was still glad I'd had them as I didn't want to be cycling for nothing if there was something else preventing it from happening. (Although I'm repeating one of them, find out on tues). Although, having had one fresh and one FET, it may well be third time lucky Smile It really is a numbers game too Hmm but if you are like me, you need to do things that make you feel you're learning new things or ruling things out for each cycle.

Fab, that is highly annoying about them messing up the appointment, after all that time. Do they not realise how hard it is to wait as it is! GrrrrConfused

Tallullah, fab list. Not sure about raspberry tea though as it's used a lot for bringing in labour as meant to make the uterus contract!?! But as always, mixed messages we read!

I'm sorry I can't remember anymore posts off the top of my head but hope everyone is having an ok Saturday xx
