Your last thread got somewhat derailed so I thought I would treat you to a lovely shiny new place full of real open fires, fluffy blankets and an aga for baking bread and warming soups and stews. Back on with the job in hand ladies, lets have a round up of who's doing what and when.

keepitgoing · 24/11/2013 06:25

Hi everyone, sorry I've been a bad poster recently

cups I'm so pleased things are finally moving forwards. Would you still rather move clinics given the choice? Brooking af won't be late this month unless for a very good reason!

geek yay for starting. I would try not to worry about lh etc. Let science take over and just roll with it. I am brooking like mad that this is your time.

Scarlett no way are your long cycles anything sinister. Dump that dhea and we are brooking for your bfp shortly.

musical I guess it may take a while for af to return, so just have fun trying for a bit before cracking out the tests.

Ooh, I couldn't believe it when I read geek has given up mist of her preg tests!!

All is good here. My beautiful little girl was jaundiced for a bit, but is over it now and putting on weight. X

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 24/11/2013 09:32

Geek can prostap delay AF? I know normal down regging can make AF late. I remember going crazy as my AF was about 5 days late when I down regged.

Keep really glad to hear little kips jaundice is better and she is gaining weight Smile how's motherhood? Does she feel real yet?!

I'm really torn about the clinics to be honest. I'm quiet keen to try short protocol due to my poor egg quality. I would be interested to see if it made any difference. The private clinic don't do short protocol, we went to an open evening and they said everyone does long as they think that's better. On the other hand their success rate is 38% as opposed to 19% at my current clinic plus I would have the option of paying for extras like embryo scope etc? I think as long as the clinic start on my next AF like they have said I will then I will stay with them.

keepitgoing · 24/11/2013 09:51

That's tough cups. I often wonder how much of the success rates is due to the private clinics choosing who they let cycle, and taking only easier people on, iyswim.

Motherhood is amazing in the day, and exhausting at night! She seems real, but having her forever doesn't really.... My edd wasn't until next Friday, which is weird too.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 24/11/2013 10:20

That is a tough one Cups. My clinic only did long protocol too. Is there anything you can do to improve egg quality? I can remember, did they imply it was a quality issue?

DrBoo did you enjoy last night Wink

Geek, any sign of AF yet? Why is it that when you want her to come, she doesn't?!

musicalmrs · 24/11/2013 21:30

Keep, you have plenty going on at the moment. Just getting as far as loading MN is impressive enough Wink Hope you're having a wonderful time with your snuggly DD!

In terms of testing.. I'm not a test addict :) I only used two tests last time (one normal, one digital to confirm). I'd had AF 7 days previously, and only tested because I was feeling really weird and ill, and I needed to go to the doctors the next day, and thought I ought to test just to make sure I wasn't PG so I could say that - and hey presto, surprise BFP!

Think I'll be taking a similar approach this time round. The ones DH bought for me yesterday were digital ones - I have one normal one too.

Geek, hope AF is making an appearance by now? Or hinting at it?

Cups sounds like a really tricky decision. I suppose changing to the private clinic now would be a bit of faff though - I mean, when you could start next cycle with short protocol?

Bit fed up of aches and cramps a lot of the day. And a very heavy feeling womble. Afraid it's gearing up for the most mega AF in the world..! (note: I'm not afraid of the big bad AF.. just the potential mega-ness!).

ControlGeek · 25/11/2013 05:53

Morning brookers!

musical def stay unaddicted for as long as possible! Hoping all your twinges are from a nice nestly emby or that if AF does feel she has to put in an appearance that it's a light and painfree one.

keep so pleased you and dd are doing well and that she has got over her jaundice.

cups I'm quite surprised that the private clinic only does long protocol, it's not recommended for ladies with PCOS as it can increase the risk of OHSS. Does this mean they don't take PCOS ladies, or that they dismiss the risk? Will your NHS clinic do short protocol? That difference in success rates is pretty large though. No wonder you are torn. I'm really surprised in the NHS having a contract with a clinic with a low success rate, surely they would save themselves money by going with a clinic with a higher success rate therefore not so many second/third rounds? Sorry, rambling here. Too early in the morning Wink Brooking that your NHS clinic are true to their word and take you on your next AF.

Still no AF here. I'm almost at the point of giving up caring, but I really want to wear my new cream linen suit to work and I'm scared in case it tempts fate and I have a nasty accident

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 25/11/2013 09:26

Geek don't wear your lovely new suit, it's not worth the risk! Stupid AF. Why does she turn up when she's not wanted and then has the nerve to be late Angry

Keep that's lovely Smile

I don't know why they only do long, I remember thinking it was weird at the open day but it's hard to argue with their success rate. DH asked about their success rates as he also thought it might be skewed due to them picking patients. However they said that they often take cases with worse AMH/FSH and more overweight people as the NHS won't give them funding. The consultant said egg quality did seem to be an issue. I've started taking royal jelly as that is meant to improve quality. I'm really reluctant to take DHEA, I'm not sure why. I just feel like it's not a good idea.

ScarlettInSpace · 25/11/2013 10:30

Morning all.

I absolutely think the success rate in private clinics is due to them picking & choosing patients based on bloods/conditions etc, as opposed to the NHS's loose guidelines of age/weight and I take them with a pinch of salt, my NHS clinic hasn't got the best stats, and the nurses are a bit twatty, but I love my consultant, although I haven't seen her for while!

cups personally if I could turn back time I wouldn't have taken DHEA. I've had random hairs sprouting in weird placed big black muthas on my boobs and last week I'm sure I could see really fine downy hair on my face, OH says it's only me that can see it, in the bright light in the bathroom with a white wall behind me Grin athough I made it pretty clear his teen wolf comments were entirely inappropriate. But the final straw for me has been OH putting 2+2 regarding my super long cycles, CD21-23 EWCM [!] loss of pre-AF symptoms [not a big loss but I kinda got used to the pre-warning, and it also made me feel like everything was working ok] and gushing-heavy bleeds...

If I do any more IVF I may use it in the run up but only because I have it in the house, I won't buy any more.

I'm thinking about going to see a chinese herb practitioner...

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 25/11/2013 13:02

Hello all!

Scarlett, a Chinese herb practitioner sounds interesting! What do they do?

Cups, Brooking that the royal jelly does its business - so excited for you that you get to start soon!

Geek, grr at AF! What does she think she's playing at? I suppose you haven't POAverysmallS just in case?

Musical, Brooking for you that all this cramping and heavy womble stuff means something good!

ControlGeek · 25/11/2013 15:00

Good luck cups, think the Royal Jelly is a good idea. I can't remember what DHEA is supposed to help with, but I think it's pretty specific. If you're not comfortable, don't do it - especially with Scarlett's scary experiences omg black hairs on her norks???

scarlett do you get to find out what is in the Chinese medicine? I've always been terrified that it will contain rhino horn or powdered tiger tail or something after reading a news article a few months back! Arf at Teen Wolf though :)

too if I hadn't have given away most of my tests to scarlett I would probably have peed on a few things by now, but all I have in the house are three ICs and the FRERs and two confirmation posh tests ready for IVF. I will not be buying more. No doubt AF will rock up the day after I spend a fortune on tests when she's ready.

I decided to play it safe and not wear my cream linen suit today. Whaddaya know? No AF Grin Officially due last Thursday, so currently only 4 days late. I'm going by cups' five days late experience at the moment so not really too worried, other than being a bit concerned I misjudged ov hardly likely! so had my prostap too early.

ControlGeek · 25/11/2013 18:27

Bugger and arse, got home to an invoice for the prostap. Guess it wasn't free after all! They've recommended I shop around to see if I can get the other two anywhere cheaper :)

CakePigeon · 25/11/2013 19:15

oh Geek are you not tempted to poaic?! Maybe you could tempt fate and wear the suit tomorrow but make sure you take precautions! sorry you got your invoice Sad

scarlett where does one find a Chinese herb practitioner? that all sounds fascinating although I think I am too much of a wuss to take anything that doesn't come with a massive instruction label about all of the assessed risks because I am a freak that likes to read instructions

musical any news on the cramps? hope they have turned into something productive for you either way!

cups I'm sure whatever you decide will be fine and now you have a start date from your current clinic, at least you know what they can offer you.

I have caved in and wee'd on an opk I had a line yesterday but fainter than control line and no line at all today so I kind of wish I hadn't done it as now I'm all confused about whether I've ov'd already or not... darn!

musicalmrs · 25/11/2013 21:48

Geek you're so brave wearing the suit today! I threw caution to the wind yesterday and went to visit my brother with no protection and a light skirt. No luck. So sorry about the prostrap invoice though! Impressed at you not having having POAS yet too!

A Chinese herb practitioner sounds interesting Scarlett. Have you got a good one nearby (with good reviews/recommendations)?

Confusing Cake Confused Part of me is quite glad I don't have OPKs - I think they'd completely confuse me. Though I am tempted to obtain some... trying to resist!

No cramp news! Aches and uncomfortableness this afternoon, but much better today. Which is making me suspect that I may have OV'd. When, of course, is the question..!

We've tentatively decided that we're going to look to move when I'm next on maternity leave (as I have private students, that's the best time - giving me time to build up a new practice on the other end). Looking at new build developments etc - great fun! :) I've told DH that we can't agree to anywhere once we have a BFP and a successful scan... but still exciting! Can't tell anyone else yet though as they'll ask why we want to move somewhere so much bigger (well, not loads bigger - another bedroom, and a separate room downstairs for my piano lessons), so have to keep it schtum from RL - so lovely being able to quickly blab about it here!

ControlGeek · 26/11/2013 11:44
CakePigeon · 26/11/2013 20:45

Sorry about the suit geek i find hips very irritating, mine have a nasty habit of expanding when I'm not watching, I then look in a mirror and get a shock Hmm it could be hormone related?

Good house move news musical it's great to have a plan would you be moving far? (What region are you in?)

Thanks for the opk advice geek however I was stuck in central London all day without my opks due to stupid bloody train chaos so I'm only just on my way home to test argh! So actually I'm not even very good at breaking my own rules!

musicalmrs · 26/11/2013 21:56

Geek, I have similar issues with my hips. Pesky things. Any AF signs? May have to take your advice on the solicitors. When we last moved (only a year and a half ago!) ours were ok - a bit slow, but it was the fault of the other side. I had just gone on maternity leave and so was able to call mine three times a day Grin

Cake we're in Essex at the moment, would potentially move to North Essex or Herts/Beds. Possibly Cambs/Suffolk. A little closer to family is the plan..! My DH used to have to be in the office/London every day but now works from home more, so we can move a tad further away from where he is based (also Essex). Very excited. It does mean I'm spending less time working and more time searching for houses - oops..

Think we need some fresh brooker blood..

Fox82 · 26/11/2013 22:02

Sorry the invoice arrived geek Sad

So exciting about the move musical! We should be exchanging next week! We went to have another look and measure a few bits tonight and it was so lovely. Totally in love with the house I can't wait! Grin

I totally recommend peeing on sticks cake Grin wish I was as restrained as musical only using 2 to confirm!

scarlett let us know all about the Chinese herb practitioner if you decide to go for it. Sounds really interesting.

Motherhood sounds like it's going amazingly well for you keep! Glad your dd is doing so well

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/11/2013 10:00

Oh Geek what a pain!! Can you find a cheaper place to get the new drugs.

Fox, when are you popping over to see us on the grad thread?! There birthday Cake and everything Wink

Musical I demand you move here!

How are all the other lovely brookers?

ControlGeek · 27/11/2013 13:16

cake poo to train chaos Sad what cd are you on now? Sadly, my hips are all my own Grin I am sure the tummy is hormone related but need to get back to shredding once I get AF out of the way.

musical are you a glutton for punishment or what - two house moves in (potentially) two years!

fox how are you feeling lovely? How did telling the family go? Sorry if you've already said, I've got the memory of a goldfish at the moment!

maybe I'm planning on getting quotes from Boots and Asda. I am going to wet myself with laughter if I end up picking up my fertility drugs while doing the weekly shop. Supermarkets really do do everything these days it seems!

Please could I ask for a little bit of brooking ladies? I had a definite pink tinge to my CM this morning (sorry for the TMI) so I'm hoping AF will arrive either tomorrow or Friday. No further sign since this morning though. I want her out of the way so I can get on with my exercise regime and reach my weight target by Christmas and fit in my cream suit !

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/11/2013 14:06

Geek when I was dr AF took forever to come, and then when she did, she was a bit of a non-starter, so in brooking she is going to be light and pain free and not interrupt your regime. Are you shredding?

Picking up your drugs with your milk will be amazing!!

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 27/11/2013 14:42

Chatsworth Farm Park parkin you say? What did you think of it then? I wondered if you went there. Brooking for AF to turn up one last time Wink

OP posts:
musicalmrs · 27/11/2013 21:24

Maybe Happy birthday! :) Would love to move closer to you. We shall see what happens..!

Fox Ooooh how exciting!

Geek Yes we are gluttons for punishment Grin We've never lived in a place for longer than two years! In reality.. DH has changed roles, and whereas we needed to be near his work (and London) before, we can now be a bit further away. We also need a study for him working from home, and for my work.. and could do with a separate living room and dining room (or living room and kitchen with kitchen table) so I can teach without disturb everyone else - at the moment I take up the whole of the downstairs which annoys DH!

Brooking for AF to be light and pain free for you Geek, as Maybe says :)

Not sure what's going on with me today. Aching, cold like symptoms, potential migraine.. desperately trying not to symptom spot as I'm sure similar happened with DD. Need to go back and see if the old Brooking thread still exists and check! Anyway, I'm sure I'm just coming down with something.. which is rubbish in itself.

Fox82 · 27/11/2013 22:00

Happy birthday Maybe!!! Thanks Cake Biscuit Hope you've had a lovely day! I can't actually find the grad thread Blush If i do manage to I'll pop my head in

Geek brooking that AF turns up soon but doesn't hang around too long! That's mad you could be picking up your drugs from the supermarket! Grin Told my mum on Saturday and she was very excited. She said she'd already bought some nappies just in case! Hmm She said she knew something was going on but I don't know how - either mothers intuition or my brother told her!!

Oooh musical hope the poorliness turns out to be something positive! But hope you feel better soon either way

ControlGeek · 27/11/2013 22:13

Thanks maybe and Thanks happy birthday! Yes, I was shredding up to the point where the dreaded flu got me! Once AF's over and done with I'll get back into it again.

boo we had a little drive round, but P was anxious to get back so we didn't pay to park stop. As he was pulling out though he came over all weird - turns out he was having a hypo, so we stopped off at the farm shop to get something to boost his blood sugar. Ended up buying a couple of parkin cakes to take into work - they were gorgeous!!!

AF has finally landed!!! I've never been so pleased to see her. She should be out of the way by the end of the weekend now, and I can get back to exercising from Monday.

ControlGeek · 27/11/2013 22:16

sorry fox and musical xpost!

fox So pleased all went well telling your mum - such a lovely piece of news to break. I'm glad it's all starting to sink in for you :)

musical would that be the pre-BFP cold I keep reading about by any chance??? Hope you feel better soon, there are lots of nasties going around this year.
