Anyone about to start/just started TTC number 2?

mrsm22 · 03/09/2013 20:35

Hi ladies, I am 31 and have one DS already. After my DS I went back on the pill but have decided to stop the pill and start TTC baby number 2 and wondered if anyone was also just about to start trying or just started and we could follow each other and share as we go along. I literally have stopped my pill last week for the 7 day break, and am meant to start taking it again tomorrow but obviously won't be, so I am very literally just starting to try for number two but am very excited! That's why I thought it might be nice to go through it with other people who are also trying. I have heard some people say that after your first baby you are more fertile but I am not sure so I am really not sure how long it will take this time. Does it usually not take as long second time round? It has taken a lot for me to decide for definite that I'd like another as I had an awful time in labour with forceps and 3rd degree tears etc which really scared me and must admit I'm terrified of another scary birth experience.

Yeah, I'll get the poas round in Grin

mrs - £6 seems like lot for a test to me! I just buy the multipack stick cheapies. I think they're only a pound or two. I've also only been trying for a month (two weeks in fact) so this is a ridiculous level of excitement/stress I'm showing!

metal - My AF is also due monday so I'll be your poas buddy.

mrsm22 · 08/10/2013 22:16

ATruth - where do you get those multipack sticks from? I agree £6 is a lot for a test and won't be spending that again. The cheapest ive seen are £3.50 for a two pack in tesco but not really looked anywhere else.

Home Bargains. I love Home Bargains Grin

I'm pretty sure that poundland get them too.

It just means I can poas as often as i like!

mrsm22 · 08/10/2013 22:26

That's handy to know, I'll have to go have a look.

I got 30 tests for £3.95 on Amazon. I POAS whenever I feel like it! :-)

Mrs, no more nausea. Lots of dizziness though. I may have to see a doctor. Suppose it could be related to sleep derivation though.

ATruth, it's so easy to get carried away TTC. I fear madness may be upon me soon. :-/

Stacks · 08/10/2013 22:53

You guys should get the real "Internet cheapies" I did, and got a bfp on one before a standard test with my DS. They're the ones used in labs and are cheaper basically because they don't have the plastic holder. amazon link. They have similar for ovulation too, about the same price. You really can poas every day!

utopian99 · 09/10/2013 03:07

I've got the same - 30 for £3.50 or so.. Poas frenzy here! not that it helps

Operation night weaning has commenced tonight, to try to boost fertility as it's been over 3 weeks now and no af. I have a bottle with water so he's not thirsty, and as many cuddles as needed - he slept through last night so I know he can do it, but it's taken 50 minutes to settle just now..

Fx it's worth it!

BetterNotBitter · 09/10/2013 08:28

Good luck utopian, what age is your little one?

I have the same amazon cheap tests for ovulation & pregnancy. They came the next day too!

Metalhead · 09/10/2013 09:08

Morning all, last day of the working week for me - whohoo!

Well I couldn't help my myself and poas this morning - BFN. Oh well. I thought I might as well do it, because I'd have just kept thinking about it and wondering otherwise, so I haven't really lost anything (apart from a stick). Just ordered a bumper pack of 50 Amazon cheapies, so that should see me through til Christmas! Grin

DD had another screamathon last night over her duvet falling off her bed, but this time we didn't pick it up for her, just told her to be quiet and do it herself, and in the end she did. Hopefully things will improve soon...

And mrsm, don't worry about your post yesterday, I didn't take it as you trying to tell me what to do, I'd have told myself the same! Trouble is when you're ttcing all rational thought seems to go out the window.

utopian99 · 09/10/2013 10:41

He's 9.5 months better. It seems soon but we originally were going to start TTC from 6 months so I'm really impatient already!

HungryHorace · 09/10/2013 11:08

Boo to BFN, Metalhead. :-( I've not POAS today as I can't be arsed with seeing BFNs anymore!

All pre-AF type feelings have gone too. So I'm not sure what to do. Maybe start DTD again?!

Internet cheapies are great for price. Shit for not going POAS crazy! I think 3 in a day is my record. :-/ Utter lunacy.

DD seems a little out of sorts today. No temperature, but not much appetite. We think she may be teething a touch as she's been chewing her dummy and my poor fingers! loads. We have the HV coming later to discuss weaning so we shall see what she thinks if I'm still worried then.

BetterNotBitter · 09/10/2013 13:48

metalhead sorry for your bfn! :(

How confusing hungry no harm in starting dtd again. How did it go with the HV?

utopian 9.5 months seems like a good time to drop night feeds, he shouldn't be too hungry in the night anymore by this age. Do you dream feed?

My news today is a positive ovulation test result, my app said ovulation was due on Friday, so could be tomorrow or Friday for actual ovulation, but at least I know we're deffo in the window!

HungryHorace · 09/10/2013 14:57

Get DTD Better. You're more likely to get pregnant DTD before OV rather than on the day / after. Apparently sperm has to be inside you for 10 hours before it's ready to do its job and an egg only lasts for 12-24 hours. It's such a small window. Good job sperm last for 3-5 days else there'd be no hope!

And DD is still following her centile perfectly. We also talked about weaning. DD does seem to eat more in the afternoon, so perhaps she'll perk up later. I'm not worried though, given her good weight gain. :-)

My right ovary is still aching. I can't be having the longest OV ever, so goodness knows what's going on with my body. DH is up for more DTD though. What a surprise!

Metalhead · 09/10/2013 17:38

Hungry is right Better, get busy tonight!

Hope your DD is feeling a bit perkier now Hungry.

I guess dtd a bit more can't hurt if you're not sure where in your cycle you are. I totally get the frustration with your body doing weird things! I've been getting lots of cramps, backache, slight nausea and bloating between ov and AF the last few months, and I'm not sure whether it's all in my head or if I might have endometriosis. My last two AFs have also been very painful, so if it's the same again next week I think I will go the GP and see what they say.

BetterNotBitter · 09/10/2013 18:10

metaldefinitely get gp to check it out if you've a feeling something's not quite right! better safe than sorry & you know your own body.

hungry pleased you DD is coming on well, it's always nice to have confirmation from HV too!

Luckily, we dtd last night (and used conceive plus for the first time too) so will get on it again tonight & tomorrow too. I'd read about it being a greater chance in the days before ovulation, but I hadn't heard about the 10 hours till they're ready to do their thing! Lazy little buggers lol. It really is such a small window hungry, it's amazing there are ever any 'accidents' (coming from a person who's first one was an 'accident', albeit a very happy one)!

HungryHorace · 09/10/2013 19:08

Better, I've just remembered the 10 hour thing is called capacitation. Could be spelt wrong!

I only ever read it in one place. I got pregnant by DTD the 4 days prior to OV last time, not actually on the day, so it definitely works. :-)

Metalhead, definitely see a doctor if you're worried. Better safe than sorry.

HungryHorace · 09/10/2013 22:23

Well...I finally have AF!!

My next step is to buy some OPKs from Amazon!

Bit gutted, but never mind.

Oh, and MN is a bit borked tonight, isn't it?

utopian99 · 09/10/2013 22:42

What does borked mean??

To whoever asked about dream feeds I'd stopped as he normally woke for a settle anyway around our bedtime, but am giving him one tonight as he flaked out after only 5 mins bf after supper today, poor tired thing. He had a happy tiring day though..

HungryHorace · 09/10/2013 23:16

Broken, utopian. A viral thread has killed the servers. :-/

Here's hoping your DS sleeps really well tonight.

utopian99 · 10/10/2013 07:11

Ah, whoops.. Thought it was more lingo I'd missed.. Blush

Ds was great till 4.15 then took an hour and a half to settle (both me and dh, finally gave up at 6 and fed him to sleep as we were all shattered by then..

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 10/10/2013 07:20

Morning ladies. How is everyone? I stopped off for some more Home Bargains cheapies (hbc) & can confirn it's 79p for three. Bargain.

Utopian - I'm impressed with your commitment to weaning. We kept trying and giving up. Only finally cracked it when he was 16mo.

HungryHorace · 10/10/2013 09:11

Utopian, sounds like our night. DD woke at 3.20 then took about 90 minutes to settle. Then she grumbled on and off so I was awake dummy wrangling. I sent DH downstairs with her just after 7 and had an hour's sleep!

AF isn't too heavy yet, but the cramps are building up nicely. Hopefully it'll be done by our wedding anniversary at the weekend.

And 79p for 3 is great if you've not got time to wait for an online delivery. I cracked and ordered 2 boxes of posh Clearblue OV tests last night. I love the smiley face they have. :-)

Stacks · 10/10/2013 09:50

Morning all. My internet cheapie tests are taking ages to arrive - 5 days so far! I'm impatient to poas. Oh well. My app says AF is due next weekend, though it originally said this weekend. It's changed my ov date based on my temperature changes, however I don't really agree with it. Unfortunately because I'm up at different times every morning with DS my bbt hasn't been as clear and stable as it used to be. We're still trying to dtd every so often just incase.

Utopian I did night weaning at about 7 months with DS, alongside CC. He adapted within a couple of nights, going from feeding 1-2 hourly all night, to sleeping 7-5 then 5:30-7. I hope your DS starts sleeping through soon without needing that early and long resettle.

Sorry for AF turning up hungry I was fairly sure you were due that bfp. This will be your month though.

Better enjoy your dtd and the break you get when you know it's post ov so you don't need to make the effort anymore :)

Metal I hope everything is ok. Of course, you won't need to go to the dr though as you'll be pg instead if getting AF :)

Truth where are you in your cycle now?

HungryHorace · 10/10/2013 09:59

Thanks, Stacks. We're going to go for it as much as the month we fell with DD this month. God knows how with DD, but we are determined! I'd only have to go back to work for 9 days if we got pregnant this cycle. :-)

HungryHorace · 10/10/2013 10:01

I'm not sure BBT works very well like that, Stacks. :-( It's why I can't be bothered with it. Far too much faff!

That is a long time for your ICs to arrive. How annoying. But I suppose it's doing you a favour so you can't test too early!
