Come one, come all and join our rollicking new thread with slightly updated brand new rules

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

temp today sal aka grotbag? Wink

nerdy that's confusing. perhaps you ov'd earlier than usual?

sorry that your temps are dropping too over.

seaside i thought that I was feeling ovulation... but now I think that it might have been my brain playing tricks on me. not quite sure why I have that feeling, I just do.

Feeling quite positive so far today. Yesterday AF was quite heavy - heaviest yet since my mc. I've been worried that it was too light signifying a too thin uterine lining due so i'm very happy that this is a GOOD SIGN for things getting properly back on track.

sorry sal cross posts.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO
that really sucks.

Sal1977 · 24/09/2013 10:38

Yep, it would seem I am a spotty fartmonster. Nice.

We haven't stopped walking and cycling since we arrived in Amsterdam which has made me realise how out of shape I am (plus I've been caning the cigarettes)! So, fresh start this cycle, no cigs, loads of fruit and veg and some regular exercise should hopefully help. I'm still carrying an extra stone that I put on when I was PG at the beginning of the year, so that needs to come off as well, otherwise it may affect things if we do get a referral!

Also, as DH only has 1% normal morphology, I figure we need to get as much of the white goods to meet my egglet as possible. So gonna try and DTD as much as possible this month!

What are you lovely lot changing for this cycle?

OveranxiousUnderated · 24/09/2013 12:31

My temp rose a bit this morn but was earlier then I usually take it so it's all over the place. I know I'm definitely out as I have already done two tests and would be showing a bfp now as due tomorrow or thurs latest.

My new plan for Oct is to hold off the shagathon untill closer to ovulation, use lots of preseed, eat healthy and exercise, keep temping/opk/cbfm because I couldn't stop even if I wanted to, reflexology every week, cuddles with my friends newborn (someone said that can help?! I am desperate) and would like to give the cough medicine a go...what am I asking for? If someone could advise that would be great. Grin

Seaside...I almost always think I 'feel' ovulation on my right side which unfortunately is my tubeless side :( last month I thought I had left side pain but no luck and this month I barely felt anything...wtf?! I'm also debating going to see the Dr as this month I've been getting sharp pain in my ovary/tube area sometimed it's almost unbearable and as soon as I need a wee the pains get worse, it's like my bladder can't hold anything. The pains are pretty much where I'd imagine my missing tube to be...did you ever experience this?

Boo to temp drop Sal Angry

x

NerdyBird · 24/09/2013 13:11

Sorry your temp's gone down sal. I'm only trying it for the first time this month so not too good at doing it regularly.

On the topic of 'feeling' ovulation, I had thought I might be getting twinges, but I've come to the conclusion they are just random. I've had sore nipples around the right time a couple of times, but not really this month.

aly for a while earlier this month the FF app had me down as ovulating on CD9! Which is pretty unlikely as I'm on a 35 day cycle. It was because of my inconsistent temperature taking I think.

Anyway, I tried a cheap OPK this morning and there was a bit of a line, but forgot a stick to bring to work with me so I might pop to the chemist and see if they have any. Fairly well tempted to just write this month off and start again next cycle.

SeasideLily · 24/09/2013 13:31

Oh poo, sal, what a bummer. I did the pineapple this month, but hopes are pretty nonexistent can't wait for Friday anyway.

Love your idea of symptom bingo missc! I'd lose this month - other than some vague imagined lightheadedness and the usual raging 2ww appetite I've got nothing, which is a first. Is having no symptoms a symptom?!

NerdyBird · 24/09/2013 14:03

So I just went and bought some OPKs. There is a line, but it's still a negative. I'll see if I can do another one later. Also TMI ALERT when I was in the chemist I felt a sort of rush of something and then a lot of wetness. I don't think it was EWCM as it looked too opaque.

I just wish all the other problems I've got down there would clear up so I can DTD!

alyant79 · 24/09/2013 14:12

nerdy i only did opks for three months, but i never EVER saw a second line as dark or darker than the control line. It was always very very faint. I know that i ov though because everything else confirms it, plus i got the 21 day bloods done and they looked fine.

seaside my surefire pregnancy symptom is no symptoms at all....

if you recent bfp girls are still lurking I want to apologise for feeling jealous yesterday. Of course I am a little bit because I want it to be me too, but i'm obviously over the moon for you guys.

OP posts:
SeasideLily · 24/09/2013 14:16

aly I think jealousy is definitely allowed-at least I hope so because I also want it to be me too!

nerdy I've also never had an opk that's as dark or darker. The best I've had is about 75% as dark.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 24/09/2013 14:38

Nerdy, I interpret a faint line on the OPK as an indication that ovulation is on its way as it shows that LH levels are on the way up. So I look upon that as the opening of the fertile window and it's probably advise able to get some swimmers lurking up there just in case.

Watery cervical mucus is an indicator that it's peak shagging week as well, so your rush of dampness in the chemist could be linked to the gradually increasing LH levels that the OPK is starting to pick up. I'd expect a positive OPK in the next day or so. Apparently you ovulate 12-36 hours after the LH surge and it's best to have the swimmers in there ready to hit on the egg as son as it's released. Hence a positive OPK is the signal to start DTD, but DTD prior to detecting the LH surge is often productive, given that sperm can loiter in the Fallopian tube for up to 5 days.

Re 'feeling' ovulation. I sometimes think I can and often get a sharp pain in my left hand side (never the right). But it doesn't always align to other symptoms. Also, I think the longer you TTC the more attuned to every change in your body through out your cycle you become and can start symptom spotting for ovulation as much as for pregnancy, with the same mixed results!

Overanxious the cough medicine you need to try is anything containing the ingredient "guaifenesin". It is an expectorant, so most cough medicine for chesty coughs should work, but check the ingredient list first. The brand that I have had recommended is Robitussin, but any expectorant should work. Which reminds me, time to pop to Boots as I am mid ovulation at the moment and haven't got any (recommended dosage is 2-3 times a day, starting a few days before ovulation, I may have left it too late now).

Commiserations to all those in the hut with AF. It is just unmitigated crapness. But when you feel ready to emerge from the gloom, you have a shinny new cycle awaiting you, full of possibilities; arm yourself with your temp chart, OPKs, CBFM, cough medicine, pineapple, saucy novels, impractical shoes and whatever combination of aids to conception you feel appropriate (oh, and DH / DP might be necessary as well!) and keep everything crossed (except your legs) that this might well be our bloody lucky month!! Good luck everyone. Grin

OneLittleToddleTerror · 24/09/2013 15:02

aly we are allowed to feel jealous. It's only human. I was at a childrens party this weekend, and ofc got asked when I'll have another one. I didn't say anything though. I'm just not brave enough to come out and say I've had 2 mcs already.

nerdy I'd read the gush as peak BD week too.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 24/09/2013 15:03

Well I'm in gutter week atm. I'm getting EWCM and DH is away on a work trip till friday. I'm hoping I'll ovulate late this month. Sad

alyant79 · 24/09/2013 16:40

oh no OLTT that really sucks. That's one of the worst thing about ttc - why is it such a small window of opportunity?

YTD thanks for the reminder about naughty books. i will have to get myself some.

OP posts:
NerdyBird · 24/09/2013 21:12

Thanks seaside, yorkshire and OLTT I will look on it as a positive sign. Tried another OPK tonight, just after 8pm. Line came up, but light still. Am sort of hoping I'll ovulate a bit late this month, it would be much more convenient for it to be at the weekend!

OveranxiousUnderated · 24/09/2013 21:33

Thanks for information on cough syrup yorkshire I will look into it! Flowers

aly You have every right to feel jealous...I sure do too. But equally v pleased for our fellow threadmates as if anyone deserves it - it's them. Hopefully it will be our time next. x

Fingers crossed you ovulate late OLTT - if it's any consolation my EWCM often starts around day 12/13 and I don't ovulate untill around day 17.

Seaside Giving you a little cheeky poke to scroll up to my previous post, I asked you a question regarding 'tube pain', I don't really have anyone to compare my experience to. I didn't bold your name as I was on my phone so you may have missed it. Grin

Really hoping AF comes tomorrow so I can start a fresh. That will be a 29 day cycle, which is what I used to have most months.

I find it so strange how everybody has such different experiences with opk's like some people never getting a dark line, or no hint of a line whatsoever. I get a darker than dark line every month without fail on day 16...yet even that hasn't worked in my favour yet.

Hope everyone else is doing okay!

x

Penguinita · 24/09/2013 22:02

Still lurking (too scared to graduate and convinced it is all going to go wrong again so don't want to go too far). But don't worry about feeling jealous aly et al. I felt it nearly every Friday since joining the thread, it is only natural when we all want the same thing. Although always with a dose of happiness too, unlike with most people in RL who haven't been through what we have, where I was just plain Envy

ArkadyRose · 24/09/2013 23:35

Fairly certain I ov'd this evening; very crampy and it's about the right time for me (cd11). We probably ought to dtd tonight but not really feeling in the mood thanks to the cramping. We dtd last night, but perhaps I'll be ok for a quickie tomorrow morning.

NerdyBird · 25/09/2013 10:53

Morning all

Just had to quickly log in to say I just got a darker line on an OPK! It was a superdrug one, not a cheapie. Don't really think that makes a difference
but it was nice and clear to see. So that's cheered me up as there is a hope of ovulation occurring.

Now, the question is, do I DTD despite the discomfort and possible thrush I've been having? I really don't want to make things worse and certainly don't want to pass anything to my boyfriend. AGH!

Wickedwiggle86 · 25/09/2013 10:57

Hi, sorry I've been a bit rubbish- asked to join you guys then became quite miserable so have been lurking only; it's hard to get out of that habit! Just at the end of my first normal AF after having tube removed so all systems go! Interesting stuff about the cough syrup- I'd never heard of it before now. overanxious I know exactly what you mean about pain where missing tube is- I had crippling pain there for about 4 days coming towards the end of my cycle; spoke to docs and they said it's just phantom pain and very common but could have it forever! :( hope everyone's doing well

OveranxiousUnderated · 25/09/2013 12:25

Nerdy...how about a cup/syringe?! Would avoid uncomfortable dtd but better than no dtd at all. Don't know how your DH would feel...

Ahh thanks wicked. I had awful pain yesterday but nothing today.

No AF for me today so think she will arrive tomorrow meaning a 30 day cycle.

x

OveranxiousUnderated · 25/09/2013 12:28

Also, wicked it's ok to just lurk sometimes. I do too when I'm feeling down. Nice to vent sometimes though! x

Oh and Nerdy... *DP not DH sorry. x

Emki · 25/09/2013 12:53

Hi ladies, like penguin would like to stay here for a bit too - feel more comfortable on this thread. Also like penguin (sorry penguin - seems I want to be you at the moment) I was happy when people for their BFPs but also very jealous -

I hope you're okay penguin I'm feeling slightly less anxious than I did when I was pregnant after my first MC (just slightly) - and keep telling myself that stress is not going to help at all!

Sorry OLLT that DH is away - fingers crossed you OV late this month.

SeasideLily · 25/09/2013 13:01

Sorry over, totally missed that. I don't get pain, as such, but sharp pangs in the general area around OV time. I got them for 3 months in a row on the left (tubeless) side, and then on the right for the last 2 months - I don't know whether I'm imagining it on the right side, because how could that be affected by surgery on the other side of my body? I'm reasonably sure I do feel it though. Acupuncture is also quite often very painful on both sides around the ovary region, and usually sore on the left side. I don't get bad pain out of the blue though, or when I need to pee - maybe you should speak to the Dr about that to put your mind at rest. I suppose they'll say the same as they said to wiggle though?

NerdyBird · 25/09/2013 13:02

Hi over

Don't think he'd go for a cup and syringe thing. He wasn't keen on having to DTD to order and wanted things to be more spontaneous. I haven't even told him it's fertile week. I could probably grit my teeth and get on with it, but I am worried about giving something to him if it is thrush.

One day my boyfriend might be a DH, we have talked about getting married, but so far I'm lacking a sparkly diamond as well as a baby!

wicked, just join in when you think you're ready. I think lots of people lurk for a while beforehand. I know I did.

alyant79 · 25/09/2013 15:34

thanks guys for making me feel better about my evil Envy feelings.

nerdy i was once very worried about infecting my DP with thrush. In fact I thought that he was infected and was infecting me and then it was going in a vicious circle! I spoke to the doc about it and they said that apparently it is quite rare for men to catch it (as long as they have good hygiene) BUT you can feed them the oral anti-thrush pills and it should clear it up if they did catch it. Sounds like i'm talking about feeding a dog worming tablets Grin
i can't remember what we ended up doing in the end - whether or not i wormed dosed him up or not. In any case the problem went away
