Welcome to the BESH plumbing thread, where we have blocked pipes, dirty u-bends and leaks aplenty.

Newbies are welcome to seek out the BESHtionnaire submit highly inflated quotes for consideration. Instadiffers will be massively overcharged and sent packing.

Hmmm, this job is gonna cost a bit Wink

frank a taste for savoury rather than sweet is supposed to mean it's a boy...

I just had the call from the clinic with my HCG blood test result. It was 1.4, which is a negative (they class 5+ as a positive), but suggests something happened, so I wasn't just imagining the faint line on the test on Saturday.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/07/2013 15:39

Sorry about the result Euro, but as you say at least you know that you weren't imagining things.

Interesting on the sweet v savoury theory, I shall file that away for future reference

The embryos tried their best, then, eh? It's all just so rubbish, euro :(

We don't have crisps or biscuits in the house, either - its just too easy to scoff and I have no willpower. HOTB is much better than me at abstaining! I do always have the means to bake, though, so sometimes I make a batch of fairy cakes, we have a few and HOTB takes the rest in to work - it's a reasonable compromise.

Favourite recipes, hmm... HOTB makes wonderful chilli, he has two recipes - one lovely beef mince one, and one slow-cooked pork one. Delicious. We make risotto (chorizo/red wine with roast veg, or dill/lemon with salmon) too, and sausages with roasted veg. Currently we're on a bit of a vegetarian kick, and having halloumi or paneer centred dinners quite often. Paneer is a superb substitute for chicken in fajitas. I've also been doing paprika fried halloumi with garlic and chilli spaghetti recently - that's really nice.

At a barbecue yesterday I discovered a fabulous new recipe for potato salad, which I normally despise, as I don't like boiled potatoes or mayonnaise. Roasted new potatoes (cooled), mixed up with a load of chopped spring onion, dill, parsley and olive oil - seriously nice!

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/07/2013 16:27

Recipe wise I have to say the Hairy Dieters book has some lovely recipes that don't feel like diet food. My favourite is Spanish Chicken:

Put quartered tomatoes, white onions, red onions, garlic cloves and new potatoes in a dish and roast for 20 mins.
Take out, stir, and add chicken thighs and chunks of chirozo. Season with herbs and paprika and return to the oven for 20 mins.
Stir again and add chunks of red and green pepper. Return to the oven for 20 mins.
Serve with a green salad.

Euro :(

I've got SUCH a headache I'm rubbish at everything, even summer :( :( :(

eurozammo · 08/07/2013 17:02

Oh poor you hest.

They certainly gave it a go by the sounds of it. It's sort of comforting that something tried to happen. Maybe we are getting close? On the other hand that means out of 5 eggs, I've had 5 fertilised embryos but none have taken - two fertilised abnormally, two looked bad and didn't stick for more than a day or two, one looked good and stuck for a while but not long enough. I need foof superglue for next time.

TWinklyLittleStar · 08/07/2013 17:23

'foof superglue.' Heh. It's a lot to think about euro, hope you don't drive yourself too mad thinking about it. Sorry again that it didn't stick.

hest why the headache lovely? Are you keeping hydrated, are you over heating? Paracetamol and an ice lolly? I'm crap at summer too, I've barely been out in the sunshine.

CD39 & no droid. I've moved on from worrying about the HSG clashing with work to it clashing with my mini holiday to Wales.

Bearfacedchic · 08/07/2013 17:34

Hey Euro sorry to hear about the embies and their non-stickage. SadThanks I will order some foof superglue for you. x

Hest - I am crap at summer too. I have bad hair because I have to wash it all the time when I get sweaty, I get sunburnt in about ten minutes, no word of a lie, and I hate summery clothes. I have a headache at the moment too. I think I'm sending too much time on MN dehydrated. I find watermelon helps if you like it.

Sorry I haven't read back through the fred, but will do so now. Apologies for not being a more dedicated BESH this weekend, but was in the pub. Grin

Afternoon hags!

Has bugs ridden off into the distance on her high horse?

We don't have junk in the house either unless my PiL bring chocolate from there hols, which they just did. Never any crisps, but often posh cheeses and olives. Food shop, I've no idea, we tend to buy about 40quids worth of veg and fish at the market, SB gets a loaf of bread every other day and we do eat out lots :) so too much.

Favourite dinners - any most fresh fish with roasted potatoes and some summery veg, ottolenghi's lentil recipes, my lemon drizzle cake (I do bake quite regularly but not when it's hot), stews with lamb or beef and loads of veg. During the week there is a fair few roasted veg with couscous, pasta with tomatoe and anything else left in the fridge, etc.

Did any of the mildly stimulated ivf-ers get odd feeling ovaries after 5 days of stimming? I was really feeling them today when another colleague announced her pregnancy.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 08/07/2013 17:38

Right, back at you lot. So sorry euro, mixed thoughts and feelings on the not quite superglued embies. Enjoy the hols and drink that wine!

Sorry you're feeling crap hes. I am too, but blaming the hormones. Shade, sun glasses and lots of water are my plan, and they usually help!

Hurrah for pubbage bear.

Sorry for AWOL droid twinks. Is it worthwhile to pee on something to tease him out?

Fasting Shock Why moll?

HadALittleFaithBaby · 08/07/2013 17:55

So sorry euro.

My cousin-in-law and wife had been doing 5:2 and she encouraged him to stop because he was struggling so much on fast days. She said he was rather unpleasant! He teaches karate and I think lack of calories/intense exercise was just too much.

TWinklyLittleStar · 08/07/2013 18:01

driz I peed on Friday, nothing. Will POAS in the morning if nothing happens.

I could not fast. I am worse than a child for being grumpy when hungry/tired.

HWCA's favourite dinner is toad in the hole. Mine is tuna steak with tomato lime & coriander, and new potatoes. We don't do a weekly shop so I'm not sure how much we spend.

RaspberrySnowCone · 08/07/2013 18:07

Fave meal....god I have no idea. MATVmakes a mean curry, chilli, stuff with fish....I don't know. Food is much to nice to limit to one or two things!

Sorry for the official test crappiness Euro.

Yep Moll, dark chocolate is indeed good for you. Got antioxidants in it!

I was a bit :( when I saw Zara was diffed. Why never us?! Why is it so easy for everyone else. I know I'm being unreasonable but I just want a baby of my own. Angry

Rasp and Bugs - I felt exactly the same. Sad

We buy every couple of days or so and find we spend less doing it that way because we use up what we have before buying more. But that's just us. Can't think of fave foods - there's too many as Rasp said! I've just turned on the oven to make granola and this is grim but I can smell the burnt bits on the oven needs a clean and it's making me hungry! Ewwwww! Pass me the Disgusting Hat.

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 08/07/2013 19:05

Sorry about the FB woes Bugs.

Rasp, the Sleb announcements always set me off, I remember crying when it was announced the DoC was expecting.

I've spoken with HWHNN about it and we've agreed there will be no smug Facebook announcement. We will speak to/text/PM those that we feel need to know and the rest can just find out whenever. Whilst I "know" everyone on my Facebook list in one way or another, some are acquaintances that don't need to know the minutiae of our lives.

For the time being I am in D-Nile. The complete lack of "real" symptoms has me resolutely refusing to believe/get my hopes up that there is an ackshual baybee in my tum tum until a scan proves otherwise though I am still peeing on IC and the line is getting darker.

Sorry Bugs - heat must be getting to me. I completely misunderstood your last post. I thought you were talking about Zara, because of course you're FB friends with her Grin Sorry you're menkulling. Here - have some of my burnt oven smell.

Bearfacedchic · 08/07/2013 19:26

Glad the lines are getting darker Frank. If I ever manage to get upduffed, there will be no FB announcement. I'd hate for someone to feel how any of us do every time there's a FB announcement.

Fooperglue.
That is all.

JethroTull · 08/07/2013 20:10

Sorry for headache & general shittyness Hest. Can I tempt you with a go on Capt Jack? A bucket of fish? A large bottle of wine?

I always said I wouldn't do a FB announcement - SSG put a scan photo up & I mentioned it in a comment. But there wasn't a fanfare and I didn't mention the words 'mummy, bubba or ickle' Blush

JethroTull · 08/07/2013 20:11

Bugs I love the burnt cheese on the top of things like lasagne, cottage pie etc. mmmmmmm.
