mejust · 06/06/2013 18:13

great news tam im really pleased for you

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 18:19

"ROAAAAAARR!" Tortie! what fabulous news! How do you feel? Amazing? Still cautious? Oh, wow, I am so, so, chuffed for you, lovely girl Thanks

Mejust, I hope you are patting yourself on the back because every day you are losing 'the fear' just a teeny bit. Well done, love!

Karbea, no idea what day she's on. I spent my mock cycle on Cyclo-Progynova (HRT) and then, latterly, progesterone pessaries. Now I'm on the transfer cycle I am taking Prednisolone (steroid) and Climaval (oestrogen). This weekend I begin three days of Cetrotide injections (to stop eggs from being released. This keeps me in synch with my donor. I then inject Otrivelle to trigger at the same time as her).

Lots of us on the FF 'cycling at ReproG' forum have been querying how the clinic can guarantee us 2 x 5-day blastos on the day of transfer. This is from one of the ladies who enquired with the coordinator:

"Everyone,
I looked thru my original emails from Helena and she said that they always run a back up donor with the same bold type and characteristics as the original donor should the original donor for some reason not produce enough eggs. Should the back up donors eggs not be needed they freeze them for future use. I guess this is why they can guarantee 2 blastos."

I had no idea they used back-up donors but I am chuffed they do. This is obviously how they can guarantee their promise.

buzzybee123 · 06/06/2013 18:20

tortie that is excellent news, really excited for you Grin

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 18:20

*she means 'blood' not 'bold', obvs.

buzzybee123 · 06/06/2013 18:24

juicy that doesn't make sense at all, if they had a back up donor they would have to tell you by law and you would have to pay for their drugs and compensation, it sounds very weird at your place

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 18:31

Yikes! do you think so? I think the drugs for the back-up donor is part of our payment package according to one of the other ladies who has just responded. I have no idea, I shall sweep it all under the carpet of my mind along with everything else I don't understand Grin

chocoloco1 · 06/06/2013 18:33

tortie that's fab, well done x

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 18:34

...I've just emailed the clinic for a definitive, no-holds-barred answer. I've a feeling I've opened a can of worms here Confused

NookNook · 06/06/2013 18:42

Tame that is amazing news! So happy for you.

tametortie · 06/06/2013 18:50

Serum use back up donors. They then use them to create the embryos that they use for double donation. I think it sounds like the normal practise for European clinics joos. Check out the agate file on serum- think you will find its the same there. X

buzzybee123 · 06/06/2013 18:52

juicy I can understand that they would have someone in mind as a back up should anything happen to your original donor, that make sense, but surely they should inform you of what is going on as you should have a say as it is your money and future, I thought their donors were 'proven'

Karbea · 06/06/2013 18:54

juicy it's so interesting. They could just keep loads in the freezer and get them out when needed couldn't they. I mean if they always have a donor backup, they'll always be producing double the amount they'll need.

buzzybee123 · 06/06/2013 18:54

juicy I would ignore FF for a bit you've only got 3 days till you're out there, that is what matters not what is being said on a website, its a stressful business as it is without fuel being added to the fire :) i'm only saying this because I care

Karbea · 06/06/2013 18:55

I wonder how many times these ladies donate eggs?

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 19:04

You're right, of course, Buzzy, but I am intrigued by how all these clinics work? Do you know how Reprofit operate if/when a donor doesn't some up with the goods? It's something I had never even considered until you and others questioned how ReproG could possibly guarantee 2 x 5-day blastos. My guess is that every clinic with high rates of success has its methods Hmm

Karbea, I'd love to know the ins-and-outs. I have a feeling that the donor I 'rejected' in favour of my chosen one is my 'back-up'. Who cares? Grin

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 19:05

...thanks, Tortie x

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 19:06

*'come' not 'some'!

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 19:08

...I wouldn't be at all surprised if clients don't get told if a back-up has had to be utilised.

tametortie · 06/06/2013 19:18

Joos, you sound in good hands chick. I wouldn't give a shit whether they came from a bloody chicken as long as the eggs they gave me were decent quality and had the potential to make babies. Grin

We are still cautious here but I have hope. More hope than before.

Perhaps I should just be happy for a bit and just be miserable when something bad happens? Rather than just feeling stressed and miserable constantly???

I want this this ball of cells in my life sooooo much Sad I hope all the bleeding hasn't hurt it. X

Nokkie73 · 06/06/2013 19:53

tam wooooooooohoooooooooooooo. I have put my Farah's on and am funking it on down to track seven from my Studio 54 compilation. Just for you and your ball of cells. And let me tell you, I am HOT HOT HOT. You need to be happy I reckon, just for a couple of days because this is excellent news. X

joos it will be interesting to see what their answer is. I thought you could choose your donor - do they then have a shadow donor with the same interests etc as the one you chose ? Are you ok ? You haven't told us how you are feeling. Xx

Hello to everyone else. Sorry it's a quick one. We're off out for fish and chips at our local country pub (yum fucking yum) in a min.

MotorcycleMama · 06/06/2013 19:58

Tame you have every reason to be happy and optimistic - enjoy! 'Tis my new philosophy because there's plenty of time to be miserable if things do go wrong, which they are not, and there is nothing to suggest that they will. In fact things are going great for you - congratulations!!

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 06/06/2013 20:02

Jeeeeee, you lot TALK. No way I can keep up - as euro can testify I am a slack poster at the best of times.

But HURRAH for the doubling hcg tame. You wrote that you MC-ed a page or so ago. But something good must be going on!

Well done on the follies karbea. Didn't we meet before, were you a 10+er for a time? Good luck in any case.

I am intrigued by the forrin'going ons. I really hope it brings that awsome souvenir. I haven't had to really look at all that, as apparently from my AFC I should have okay eggs where the hell is that baby then?

Not much news here apart from popping the pill in advance of DR. As to virtuousness. I had two beers yesterday and two vinos today. I intended on a t-total IVF, but I guess that is starting with the beginning of DR...

JuicySteak · 06/06/2013 20:03

Tortie, this is the time to dream and to have hope. Motor makes a lot of sense when she says there is a time to despair when and if despair should befall us. Right now your numbers are terrific and your little embryo is doing just what it's supposed to X

NokkedKnees, here: have a Kahuna burger to go with that funk you're strutting.

I did indeed choose my donor. The one I rejected was a bit girlie: Loved animals and nature and all that crap. So, if my baby turns about to be some daisy-chain wearing little hippy begging me for a pony I'll know who my back-up donor was Wink

You asked how I'm feeling: really happy as it goes. I'm very, very grateful for you loons on here. I seriously find all your personalities and quirks so comforting and I know that, even if a BFN is on the horizon for me, I will have had the best hand-holds any girl could ever have

I love you all xxx

buzzybee123 · 06/06/2013 20:15

juicy any clinic using 2 donors should be able to guarantee more than 2 blastos to freeze, if they are saying they guarantee at least 8 eggs per donor, I doubt Reprofit use this method, I'd also prefer my children were from the same donor, if they weren't then I would want to know and then make the choice of using the same donor later on or having a new donor. This would be our decision to make not theirs, I'm the one driving the bus not them
